Bald Move Pulp

Special thanks goes to Alafia McMurty for commissioning a podcast on the 1985 sci-fi comedy classic, "Back to the Future". Starring Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd, we've seen this movie a million times and love every second. Please enjoy the following mammoth podcast that covers nearly every aspect of the film, from the absurd to the poignant to the sublime. Thanks again, Alafia! We had a bl...

We feel like "Banshee" is well and truly back this week with some nicely executed action set pieces including a pulse pounding foot chase as well as a double/triple cross snipe-fest, they payoff of which was good enough that we'll both forgive a little Fat Au Ex Machina. Episode 403, "Job, featured bombshell reunions, revelations, and some hot former-neo-nazi sex, and we get around to discussing i...

Welcome to another "Banshee" edition of Bald Move TV, this time featuring episode 402, "The Burden of Beauty"! In this podcast, A.Ron and Cecily try to unravel the mysteries of Amish drugs, Neo-Nazi politics, investigatory yarn collage art projects, absentee fathers, and wind up uncovering A.Ron's latent fear of dogs. And Job! And feedback! The Russian import "Hardcore Henry", directed by Ilya Naishuller and starring Sharlto Copley and Haley Bennett, is either some brilliant, imaginative, humorous, over the top action flick, or it is an over-long, boring, tedious, graphic waste of time that may or may not make you physically ill. Or maybe it's both? Jim and A.Ron debate the film's merits accordingly. If you're curious about the origi...

A.Ron and co-host Cecily take a look at the new season of Cinemax's action series, "Banshee", with the season four premiere, "Something from the Bible". Maybe it's the location changes that cause so much catching up on, but we found it to run at a bit lower octane than your typical adventures of Hood and company. Or maybe it's the lack of Job. But this episode is "whelming"; neither over nor under...

We review Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. We didn't like it. If you did, I'm really happy for you, but I'd recommend skipping the podcast because we're going to sound like Lex Luthor explaining Greek history, which is to say utterly deranged and insane. This podcast is an abridged version of the full, spoiler-filled discussion available only to our club members. Check out our Club Bald Move pa...

This was a long time coming. Jim has avoided seeing this movie for going on 30 years. Today, he has no where to run, no where to hide. He's locked in a steel cage match with "The Princess Bride", directed by Rob Reiner and based on the novel of the same name by William Goldman. Confronted by the beautiful faces of Cary Elwes and Robin Wright, the absurdist comedy of Miracle Max, how will he react...

Jim and A.Ron took in the psychological thriller "10 Cloverfield Lane", and have a lot to say about the performances, the plot, and the trailers previewing movies we may or may not be interested in. The movie is directed by talented rookie Dan Trachtenberg, and stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead, John Goodman, and John Gallagher Jr, and is being called the "spiritual successor" to the original J.J. Abr...

Jim and A.Ron saw the latest kinda-sorta-Marvel movie, "Deadpool", and found it defied their expectations. Rather pleasantly so. What we were expecting is some kind of Dumpuary disaster, and what we got was a slick, action packed, very hard "R", very funny send up of the super hero genre. If you like movies in the "Cranked" franchise, or the latest "Kingsmen" flick, you'll be right at home. This p...

Special thanks once again to Aaron Spaulding, who for his double commission feature selected the wonderful, weird, and fully preposterous Luc Besson joint "The Fifth Element", of which Jim and I are very familiar with. We delve into the depths of Jim's annoyance with Ruby, while A.Ron explains how he quit worrying and learned to love the Rodd, Besson's partly crazy, partly insightful look into lif...

A.Ron is joined once again by Shayne Bowman from the Heisenberg Chronicles and Film Schlubs to discuss the latest season of Cinemax's The Knick. We discuss our feelings on the themes and characters of season 2, the future of The Knick, Cinemax, and the art of film in general. Thanks for helping us out, Shayne! Jim and A.Ron have a LOT to say about Netflix's documentary, "Making a Murderer". Lots of spoilers ahead, but if you just want our opinion on whether the show is worth watching or not, rest assured that it absolutely is. We discuss the case, the defendants, the evidence, the criminal justice system in America, and ask what can we do individually and collectively to fix the numerous issues that are...

Special thanks to podcast commissioner Julie Webster for pulling the trigger on the Mitchell Lichtenstein film, "Teeth", starring Jess Weixler. It is a frequently funny, sometimes creepy, yet often insightful look at the mythology behind vagina dentata, or "toothed vagina". This movie has severed peen for days, ya'll. They guys spend the better part of an awkward hour discussing the film and relat...

Jim and A.Ron have seen the latest Star Wars, and declare it worthy of the name. Don't expect Empire Strikes Back, but if you set your navicomputer expectations somewhere in Return of the Jedi's neighborhood we think you'll have a good time. We give about five minutes of non spoiler review up front, but then get hardcore old school Star Wars nerd talk. Meet us over in the forums if you want to tal...

Andrew "The Commissioner" Mount "strikes" again from his hidden rebel base, this time forcing us to watch Episode V of the Star Wars saga, "The Empire Strikes Back." Which, incidentally, depending on the age of the A.Ron you ask, is either his favoritist movie of all time, or top three. Either way, it's a treat. Once again, Jim and I try to sort through our childhood and adult memories of this hol...

Today's commissioned podcast is on 1994's Stargate -- brought to you by Dr. Brandon Devito, official dentist of Bald Move and international man of mystery. Directed by Roland Emmerich and starring Kurt Russell and James Spader, it is a star spanning intergalactic tale of ancient Egyptian themed aliens, slip-shod archaeology, and gun toting shepherd boys. The boys ponder how movies change as we age...
