Anime Pulse

We want everyone to reach under your seats and pull out the old shoe box you find there. Within that box, there should be an old bit of newspaper. Unwrap that and you will find at least two popsicle sticks. Take those and carefully taste the bit of discoloration where the previous treat ended. Give those a quick taste and close your eyes. Congratulations. You are now a weirdo. Tim has Welcome to J...

What manga review show has two thumbs and two manga? Probably a lot of them actually but we’ll fit that bill for today. Though you know what we don’t fit? Take a look, there is no book. Because this isn’t the Reading Rainbow. This is Popcorn Pulse and we do movies. So how about a movie that was written by the same guy who did LA Confidential? You might remember it as the movie which got a lot of buzz back in the nineties. Going so far as to get Oscar noms. You can imagine a writer might try to get lightning to strike twice after that. Because everyb...

Spooky season is upon us. Or at least it was at the time of recording. We may or may not have picked manga that corresponds with the time of year of pumpkins and costumes. Because we have the planning abilities of a local city council that keeps getting voted out every six months. We have at least one of those cock teases which do not lead to sex in the champagne room. That’s right, Dune: Part 2[2024]. So the first part seemed kind of promising. Baron Harkonen’s plan had succeeded in driving out the Atredies and retaking Arrakis. We weren’t threate...

What do you do with a drunken sailor? You could fine him and send him off with his purse a little lighter. Or, hear me out, you could give him a podcast wherein he talks about manga. Not much snark to go here so we’ll get right into the film. We’re going old school this time with Daredevil[2003]. Nothing says summer and the beach quite like shark movies. They almost have to go together because otherwise sharks aren’t very dangerous.
