Anime Pulse

We’ve done quite a few Nicolas Cage films so what’s a few more? The question is can we keep finding themes within his filmography as it shrinks while we review it? Can he grow his library faster than we can review it? There’s only one way to find out and that’s to press on boldly. We opted to try and find three films where Cage was a thief or a conman. First up is Stolen[2012]. Cage plays a thief,...

This week on VG Pulse, tis the great season of scandals! We start off with side notes of me finally escaping my retail prison and everyones vehicles feeling extra needy, before diving into the regular news where we go through the multitude of major blowouts the industry has experienced over the last month! We go over the latest from the Mastercard/Visa situation, before diving into the newest shit...

Two boxes of farm fresh reviews. Hand selected, never touched by AI. That’s our promise to you. Those dastardly clankers won’t get their oily mitts on our work. We’ll keep doing this our way because our listeners don’t tolerate stilted voices reading barely sensible scripts cranked out by someone with excess tokens to waste. Tim has Mars Red. It’s set in Japan in the nineteen twenties. There are v...

This week on Anime Pulse we got the last episode of previews in a special Gattai show, popular anime are passed on, and chicken burgers are shown off. Up first Joseph talks about his experience with the Director's Cut of Deus Ex: Human Revolution, and Andrew is gauging our cooking skills with what anime foods we think we could recreate. Then in the industry news we got nothing. And finally it's th...

It’s been a hot minute since we’ve had a solid theme episode around Nicolas Cage. But just grabbing three movies of our patron saint is too easy. The man has a long filmography which makes it way too easy to cherry pick. So we decided to narrow things down and focus on Westerns made with Cage. First up is Gunslingers[2025]. We start off with some atrocious CGI establishing the era and time. Three...

This week on Anime Pulse we got horny islands, painful walks, and fighting games. Up first Joseph recounts his journey on Friday of walking 16 miles, and Andrew is still on that fighting game grind after a rank reset. Then in the industry news we have none, don't worry though Andrew will talk about something later on. And finally round four of previews has Joseph escaping from horny women so he ca...

Another manga show, so another pair of manga and a pair of ratings. Just another day in paradise where the manga is always ready to be smacked down or uplifted. You would be wrong though and gloriously so. We actually have three manga today though one dovetails right into the other. Like a box joint of mixed metaphors. Tim has a request in Dragonball. Yes, the manga the really made Akira Toriyama...

This week on VG Pulse, a lot of things blew up all at once! We start off with side notes of how miserable this summer is, before diving into the multiple fallouts of the last week! Including but not limited to, Ironmouse pulling the pin on the VShojo grenade and igniting a VTuber revolt, Visa and Mastercard pushing for hardcore censorship of media, and multiple platforms trying to force people to...

This week on Anime Pulse we got round three of summer previews, another end of a vtubing era, and flat tires. Up first Joseph recounts his time driving home on a flat tire, and Andrew reached High Master. Then in the industry news Vshojo shuts down with plenty of drama, and VISA gets told down by Japan to quit throwing around its weight. And finally the previews get Joseph reincarnated into a land...

We have bad news for you, bank teller person. The robbery is coming from inside the bank! Of course robberies usually happen inside a bank if they are bank robberies. Ones conducted outside of them are can be classified as cash in transit heists if the thieves are stealing from the vehicle itself. Important notes if you’re planning on being listed on the FBI’s list of most wanted bank robbers. Tha...

It’s hot in Topeka so we recommend that you stay hydrated. Also don’t forget to grab a string cheese on the way out. We bought them in bulk and don’t want to see them expire. Hell, take two and have one for later. We also have the knock off bag juice products. Capone Solar really isn’t that bad if you don’t mind the taste of old orange and pickle juice. Tim has Dazzle. Which is a Tokyo Pop product...

This week on Anime Pulse we got round two of previews, nuclear radiation, and sports. Up first Joseph talks about his father's birthday, and Andrew is back on that Street Fighter grind. Then in the industry news an alarm clock designed to give you an excuse to be late. And finally another round of previews with Joseph being kicked from his party twice just to be targeted for assassination, and And...

This week on Anime Pulse we got a return to previews, a return of Andrew, and a very empty community topic. Up first Joseph finds out his unboxing stream won't be until late August, and Andrew regales us with his trip to Switzerland and it's really tiny meals. Then in the industry news Netflix gloats about being used mostly for anime. And finally the summer previews round things out with Joseph ki...

Punch, kick, it’s all in the mind. Or that’s what weirdos will tell you. Then you strike them in the face and ask them if that was simply a personal construct or not. Of course they will go call the cops which is the adult version of tattling. Which is really the only reason nihilists and solopsists get away with being smug jerks in a civilized society. Let us bring that around to Chuck Norris. We...

This week on VG Pulse, we’re in flash news central! We start off with side notes about how hot and muggy it is here, before melting our way into the regular news, where we discuss World of Tanks continuing to be awful, more countries waking up to the various monopoles in the gaming sphere, and Gamestop turning their stapled Switch 2 situation into an amazing charity opportunity! After the news we...

Who the hell posts descriptions for this show at six PM? Off in the distance you might faintly hear us. Oh boy, six PM, time for another show description! Then the sounds of a comically large wooden mallet crushing an alarm clock. Not because that’s the only way to silence it but because big alarm clock has convinced us that they are disposable. Tim has Radiant. There are evil creatures randomly f...

This week on Anime Pulse we got some good bloody food, edge lords, and isekai contests. Up first the IRL news has Joseph excited for his upcoming 4 day work week, aka a 3 day weekend, and Andrew is back from his time away to ask us about the anime that give us those vacation vibes. Then in the industry news an upcoming ecchi anime is going to have varying levels of censorship, and KADOKAWA wants y...

Let’s look over the stack of papers on our desk. Doesn’t seem anyone has died too recently but everyone is talking about scary weather. So it must be summer and that puts us right in the mood to talk about frightening beaches where people die suddenly. No, we’re not talking about sharks or any famous movies featuring them. We have The Fog(1980). Yes, on the heels of making an iconic slasher film,...

You might find leprechauns ridiculous and unbelievable. Little gnomish folk with magical powers that hide gold at the end of rainbows? Dismissed with prejudice, you would say. Just as you might dismiss that we would do another manga episode. Yet here we are, in all our glory. So if we can come through, who is to say, truly, that you will never see a lookalike that could hawk you a sugary cereal pr...

This week on VG Pulse, get ready to talk about Not-E3 and all its Not-E3…uhh…glory? We start off with side notes of work and muggy weather, before heading into the main news where we discuss all the interesting things shown at all the various chunks of Not-E3! We also discuss the many continued failings of Nintendo, such as fresh joycon drift and many canceled preorders! Meanwhile Blumhouse is mak...

You might not think that we ever get stuck for movies to pick for the show. What with Hollywood alone having been making films for over a century. Giving us a library of media you probably couldn’t watch in your lifetime without sacrificing your personal life and a significant portion of sleep. But that does happen and then we hear about an actor’s passing and it reminds us of their work. We have...

This week on Anime Pulse we got Aku Joseph, unsolved mysteries, and ten full miles. Up first Joseph hits his goal of a ten mile walk by visiting a cemetery named after his patron saint, and Andrew puts in his PTO for next week. Then in the industry news Crunchyroll makes one of the most idiotic polls ever. Finally in the reviews Joseph unseals a horrible version of himself to talk about why it is...

This week on Anime Pulse we got bad new for criminally minded foreigners, CyberDemon 2099, and blinding bangs. Up first Joseph provides a couple updates to the unboxing stream and the giveaway prizes, and Andrew wants to know who your favorite characters with hidden eyes are. Then in the industry news Japan is so tired of the arresting foreigners they don't event want to known what they're saying...

Prepare for stubble, shave in your bubble. Take a walk along the rubble. Uh, I think we’re out of rhyming words for the moment. And we’re not going to run to some generative LLM for help. So you’re stuck with this free form nonsense we cobbled together for the intro of this description. Enjoy it for the artisan goodness or badness as it were. Just know a real, dumb, human made it by punching a key...

Either we’re buying in bulk or we have a coupon. Because once again we have another twofer. Perhaps it’s time to open a bulk review store where you can roll around. It might do gangbusters if we offer hotdogs and soda for a competitive price. Perhaps something like a dollar thirty five to undercut someone else. So if you find us dead, a certain CEO is responsible for it. First up is the movie ever...
