90 Under 90

Jer's selection is a Michael Keaton movie for the month of May: "Multiplicity!" Harold Ramis directed this under-appreciated comedy from the mid 90's, which feels very much of its time but still holds up in multiple ways.

ORIGINALLY PUBLISHED NOVEMBER 16, 2021 We bring this franchise to a close with part 3 of the third season of Twin Peaks.  We also reveal the franchise we'll be talking about next!

ORIGINALLY PUBLISHED NOVEMBER 2, 2021 We're breaking formula this week to catch up with old friends and discuss the FULL ON Lynch-ness of episode 8.

Originally published May 2021 The inaugural episode of "90 OVER 90" was the Coen Brothers' "No Country For Old Men" from 2007 starring Josh Brolin, Tommy Lee Jones and Javier Bardem.

ORIGINALLY PUBLISHED OCTOBER 19, 2021 It's 25 years later and we're back!  Sorta.  We kick off the 2017 Showtime revival "Twin Peaks: The Return" with our discussion on the first 6 episodes, which is just as dense and complicated as season 1.

ORIGINALLY PUBLISHED OCTOBER 5, 2021 The series has ended, but there is so much more story to tell.  We go back to how this all started with "Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me," a movie that can (and did) easily piss off the fanbase who didn't know what to expect from a big screen transition.

Dan brings us this month's OVER 90 selection: The Coen Brothers' "The Big Lebowski" from 1998 starring Jeff Bridges and John Goodman. A movie that by all rights IS a comedy, yet somehow most of the humor still eludes Jer.

ORIGINALLY PUBLISHED SEPTEMBER 22, 2021 We finish out the series proper and head into the Black Lodge where we will stay for a very long time.

ORIGINALLY PUBLISHED SEPTEMBER 7, 2021 Mike warned Jer that the show gets weird and bad at this point.  Does he feel the same way?  We discuss episodes 8-15 of Twin Peaks Season 2.

ORIGINALLY PUBLISHED AUGUST 25, 2021 Back in the town of Twin Peaks, only this time we're much more efficient with our review of what goes down!

ORIGINALLY PUBLISHED AUGUST 10, 2021 It's Jer's turn to experience a franchise for the first time, and Mike has chosen the series "Twin Peaks!"  In a marathon episode, we break down the first season (as best we can.)

ORIGINALLY PUBLISHED JULY 28, 2021 We conclude our first phase of the Star Wars franchise with a movie that everybody thought they wanted, but nobody really did.  That being said, what we got is so much better than what Jer remembers!

ORIGINALLY PUBLISHED JULY 13, 2021 We've completed the Skywalker Saga, and now we branch out and expand the universe.  But...do we even care about this entry?  Based on the conversation...well, you'll have to listen for yourself!

Jer's choice for this month is a family movie which just celebrated its 10th anniversary in February, and is greatly elevated by the last ten minutes of its runtime. We discuss the brilliant "The Lego Movie" directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller.

ORIGINALLY PUBLISHED JUNE 29, 2021 We've reached the end of the Skywalker Saga and the lowest rated Star Wars movie in the series.  But how does it stack up for newcomer Mike?

ORIGINALLY PUBLISHED JUNE 22, 2021 We have arrived at the Star Wars movie that's so divisive we couldn't even be in the same room to discuss it.  Rian Johnson's "The Last Jedi" is the topic today, so be patient with us and hear our thoughts in the most civilized manner we could muster.

ORIGINALLY PUBLISHED JUNE 15, 2021 There's been an awakening at the same time there's been a silencing (of George Lucas, at least.)  We're now heading into the sequel trilogy with the movie that feels very familiar, yet somehow is very convoluted despite being a very fun watch.  What a mixed bag this one is!

This month we bring you Paul Verhoeven's 1987 EXCESSIVE satire "Robocop" starring Peter Weller as the titular robo-cop. It's another insanely R-rated movie that somehow spawned a children's cartoon!

ORIGINALLY PUBLISHED JUNE 8, 2021 We've come to the end of the prequel trilogy and the original saga.  It's taken us several weeks to get here and now we're racing through hyperspace to reach the creation of Darth Vader.  So let's break down this slow-paced yet still rushed conclusion to the time before the Battle of Yavin.

ORIGINALLY PUBLISHED JUNE 1, 2021 Dan joins us once again to talk about a divisive movie in the series.  A movie the separates the true fans from the weak.  A movie that changes people.  And opinions have changed...

ORIGINALLY PUBLISHED MAY 25, 2021 You couldn't escape Phantom Menace Mania in 1999, but somehow Mike avoided it! We get into the much maligned prequel trilogy with this initial entry and discuss our own potentially hot takes on "Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace."

ORIGINALLY PUBLISHED MAY 18, 2021 Widely considered to be the worst of the original trilogy, you may be surprised to hear where Jer and Mike would place "Return of the Jedi" on their rankings of the original trilogy.

ORIGINALLY PUBLISHED MAY 11, 2021 We continue Mike's journey to a galaxy far, far away with the next logical stop: The Empire Strikes Back.   It's no secret that this is the most beloved of all Star Wars movies.  So it's also no secret that Mike greatly enjoyed it.  So our evolving format mutates once again to something a little more familiar for the time being. A good ol' scene by...

In this cold month of January, we discuss the cold space thriller "Gravity" from 2013, directed by Alfonso Cuaron, and starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney. This is still the most terrifying movie Jer has ever seen.

With the main show being over, we decided this year to unlock all of our Patreon episodes to the public! All previously released Patreon content will make its way into the main feed over the next several months, including new and old episodes of our monthly 90 OVER 90 show. But first, we present you with the premiere episode of a side show we used to do called "Franchise First-Timers" wh...
