The Path Pod

This week marks the beginning of Missions Month at Lafayette First, and Derrick and Jason interview Donna Dean from Restore 6:34 after they discuss the sermon from Sunday. Listen to hear about great missions work that is happening right in our own backyard and hear how you can be a part of it.

This week Derrick and Jason dig in to what it means to use the spiritual gifts that we receive from the Holy Spirit when we come to faith in Christ. It takes some work to determine what that gift is for each person, but it is through the gifts that God makes his presence known among his people.

As followers of Christ we have an identity that is rooted in Christ. This week Derrick and Jason begin discussing our new series, This Is Us, as we consider the vision statement of Lafayette First over the next few weeks.

This week Derrick and Jason look at what is found in Revelation 9. It is a dismal picture of the judgment of God being poured out on sin, but we still see the glimmers of grace and mercy found in Christ.

This week Derrick and Jason discuss the nature of God hearing the cries of his people and how he answers those cries. It is an interesting discussion about how our expectations as Christians at times do not exactly match the way God works in our lives. Join us and be a part of the conversation.

This week Derrick and Jason talk about the importance of exegesis as we study Scripture, especially when it comes to the Book of Revelation. Revelation 8 is a tough chapter, but we see God's mercy and justice both on full display. Join in the conversation by emailing us at thepath@lafayettefirst.life

This week Derrick and Jason consider the incredible comfort that we find in knowing that Christ is on the throne at all times, even when life seems to be at its craziest. When we trust in God's sovereignty, we find hope that cannot be found anywhere else.

Derrick and Jason are back for Season 5 of The Path Podcast! They jump right back in to the book of Revelation and pick up in chapter 7.

This week Derrick and Jason discuss Revelation 6:9-17 and how suffering impacts our lives every day as followers of Christ.  They also talk about how God uses suffering in our lives to grow us and shape us into the people he created us to be.   The Path Podcast will be taking a short break after this week, and we can't wait to talk with you over the summer.

This week Derrick and Jason discuss Revelation 6:1–8 and how Jesus begins to break open the seals on the scroll he took from the right hand of God the Father.  There are some very specific things that happen as each of these seals is broken, but ultimately it all points back to Jesus sovereignly reigning over everything.

This week Derrick takes over host duties as Jason helps us get a little deeper  understanding of what it looks like to see Jesus in our everyday lives.  Revelation 5 gave us an incredible image of the Lamb lifted up and glorified, and it affects our lives today.

This week Derrick and Jason take a look at the incredible importance of remembering that God is on His throne and He has all things under His control even while our lives may feel chaotic. We can find hope and confidence in this truth that we see in Revelation 5:1-7.

This week Derrick and Jason point our attention back to Revelation as we move into Chapter 4 and are given a picture of the Almighty God seated on the throne in heaven.  When we rightly understand that God has everything under control in heaven, then we can live with confidence here on Earth.

This week Derrick and Jason wrap up the Rescue series, and they look back at the celebration of Easter.

This week Derrick and Jason continue to discuss the rescue that we receive from Christ.  Derrick preached this week about the rescue in the quiet that is found through God working in the 400 years of silence in between the Old and New Testaments.  God's timing is always best, and his timing teaches us to trust in him more deeply.

This week, Derrick and Jason continue to discuss the rescue that God gives us in this life.  This week Jason points our attention to the Davidic Covenant in 2 Samuel 7, and we see how God advances his rescue plan that will culminate in the person of Jesus.

This week Derrick and Jason begin a discussion of the fact that we have been rescued by God from sin and death.  This series will lead us up to celebrating Easter.  Join in and let us know what God is doing in your life.

After taking a week off, Derrick and Jason return to celebrate 75 episodes of The Path Podcast!  They take a look back and then anticipate what is coming ahead.  This podcast is a tool that God is using to help people continue down the path toward Christlikeness, and we appreciate you being along for the ride.

This week we start a new series at Lafayette First called Pathway.  Derrick and Jason set the stage for what brought us to this point, and take a deeper look at the idea that we are to love God with all our hearts and love others as we love ourselves.  Join us on The Path.

Derrick and Jason discuss Exodus 18:13-27 this week as we wrap up our series, Your Part Matters.  Ministry is tough work at times, but when we share the load it makes for joyful work.

This week Derrick and Jason return to talk about what it means to be gifted by the Holy Spirit and how we are supposed to use those gifts within the context of the local church.  We are gifted by God for the purpose of unity and the glorification of God.

This week Derrick and Jason begin looking at the idea of being a member of the body of Christ who has been given a gift by God to serve the body.  We have a job as Christians to shine the light of the gospel wherever God plants us.  The best way to do that is to see how God has specifically shaped each member of the body to serve the local body in a way that glorifies Him.

This week Derrick and Jason discuss the last two letters to church found in Revelation 3.  God has called us to holiness as His followers, and He has called us to depend fully on Him for all things.

This Derrick and Jason break down what Jesus says to 4 of the 7 churches in Revelation 2–3.  Jesus wants us to understand that He is sovereign over all things, but that He also deeply loves us enough to not let us stay in our sinful state.  Find rest in that truth this week, and celebrate the fact that He is in control of all things.

Derrick and Jason return this week for the first episode of 2022!  This week they recap the first three weeks of our series through the Book of Revelation.  In this letter we get an incredible picture of how awe-inspiring and loving our Savior truly is.  If you have missed any of the sermons you can view them here: lafayettefirst.life/watch
