The Micah Hanks Program

This week on  The Micah Hanks Program , as the James Webb Space Telescope makes its way toward the next phase of its mission following a successful Christmas Day launch, we turn our attention toward developments in space, science, and unidentified aerial phenomena in the last twelve months for our final program of 2021.  Joining us this week are Jason McClellan of Rogue Planet and Ryan Sprague of ...

They represent one of the greatest architectural wonders of all time... and are among the most enduring mysteries of the ancient world. The pyramids at Giza were an engineering marvel when they were erected thousands of years ago, and even today scholars and laymen alike continue to ask questions about these enigmatic ancient monuments and their construction.  This week on  The Micah Hanks Program...

In 1966, as UFO sightings were occurring across the United States, one man became determined to solve the riddle of these mysterious aerial objects... and in doing so, found his way into the heart of one of the most curious episodes in modern American folklore.  This week on The Micah Hanks Program, we look at the adventurous life of Fortean researcher John A. Keel. From his pursuit of answers to...

This week, as members of Congress continue to weigh in on the Department of Defense's decision to launch its new effort to investigate unidentified aerial phenomena, Micah is joined by his cofounders and team at The Debrief, which has brought in-depth coverage to the ongoing UAP investigations by the U.S. government, and a range of other issues in science and technology.  Along with guests Tim McM...

In recent days, we have learned of the establishment of a new UAP investigative group within the United States Department of Defense, called the Airborne Object Identification and Management Synchronization Group (AOIMSG). While the DoD move has been met with some controversy, it does signal that for the first time since the end of the USAF Project Blue Book in the 1960s, UFOs are being taken seri...

Rancher Mac Brazel had no idea what a "flying saucer" was, nor had he heard any of the numerous reports of strange objects that were allegedly being seen in the skies over America when he rode into Corona, New Mexico on the night of Saturday, July 5th, 1947. The events that transpired over the next several days, while largely forgotten until the late 1970s, would eventually become known as the Ros...

A pilot has a harrowing near midair collision with an unidentified flying object... a group of fishermen encounters a strange object producing a beam of light under their boats near Pascagoula, Mississippi... and a former fighter pilot is pursued by a massive object over Alaska. What do all of these cases have in common? They all involve instances where unidentified aerial or submerged phenomena h...

Since Project Blue Book ended in the 1960s, there has been no official office of UAP investigations within the U.S. government... but events of recent days indicate that this could soon change. A proposed amendment to the Fiscal Year 2022 National Defense Authorization Act recently called for the establishment of an "Anomaly Surveillance and Resolution Office" within the Department of Defense, in...

A strange light moving through the sky... the word "STOP" scribbled across the side of a parked vehicle... and a young man discovered lying face down in the mud, unconscious. Having all the workings of a true-crime mystery, these were among the actual events which gave rise to the bizarre story of the disappearance of Gerry Irwin. A USAF volunteer, Irwin was on his way back to report for duties in...

During the Second World War, Allied pilots began to log reports of encounters they had with unusual aerial phenomena during their flights over Europe. According to  a once-secret memo from 1945, officials from XII Tactical Air Command intelligence staff wrote that "We have encountered a phenomenon which we cannot explain."  Later dubbed "Foo Fighters," the reports of odd aerial encounters over Eur...

Do UFOs represent exotic technology from another world? Will advances in the coming decades produce "warp drives" and other UFO-like technologies that will close the gap between the observed behavior of unidentified aerial phenomena and Earthly technologies? And what do aviation professionals worry about the most when it comes to reports of unidentified aircraft in our skies?  Joining us to discus...

On March 24, 1967, ten ICBMs at an underground launch control facility at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Montana became inoperable, while the security personnel aboveground observed a UFO hovering near the facility's gate.  Joining us to discuss the Malmstrom UFO incidents and similar events involving UFOs at nuclear sites is Robert Salas, who was the on-duty commander of the launch control facility...

In the heart of Brazil's Chapada dos Veadeiros National Park exists one of the most biologically diverse regions anywhere in the world. However, along with the unique plants and animals found here are a prevalent interest in unidentified aerial phenomena, along with countless reports of Brazilian UFO sightings by local residents. During his recent travels to Brazil, Micah visited Alto Pariaso de G...

For decades, many people who have claimed to observe UFOs have also said they saw the occupants of these crafts. Even more incredibly, some of these purported "experiencers"  have made extraordinary claims about their interactions with such beings, and even abductions where they were taken aboard UFO craft.  How reliable are these claims, the likes of which the late Harvard psychiatrist John Mack...

The Great Sphinx of Giza is among the most widely recognized monuments in the world, and arguably one of the most astounding testaments left to us by past cultures. Archaeology has revealed many details about the way of life in Egypt at the time of its construction, although a number of questions remain. Robert Schoch, Ph. D., is a Boston University geologist who has studied the Sphinx for decades...

In 2004, the U.S. Navy's Carrier Strike Group 11 was conducting training off the California coast when radar operators began to detect unusual aerial objects nearby. Over the next several days, the objects would be repeatedly observed, culminating in a close encounter between one of the objects and a pair of fighter pilots.  Known today as the "tic tac," the object described by the pilots during t...

Many astronomers believe we are closing in on the hunt for proof of life on other worlds... but where will it be found, and how will we find it? Among the methods being used are searches for technosignatures, biosignatures, and even interstellar probes that might have been "delivered" to various parts of the galaxy by an alien intelligence.  In the search for alien life, how does UAP fit into the...

It is among the greatest questions humans have ever asked about life and our place in the cosmos:  are we alone in the universe?  While scientists believe they are closing in on answers to this long-standing question, many UFO proponents throughout the years have argued that the evidence for alien life can be found right here on Earth. On this week's edition of The Micah Hanks Program,  we wade in...

With all the attention put toward the U.S. government's recent interest in UFOs, the fact that similar incidents involving unidentified craft frequently occur in Canadian airspace is often left out of the equation.  Joining us to discuss the Canadian UFO situation is investigative reporter Daniel Otis, who in recent months has been chronicling aviation incidents and military responses from the Can...

Since 2017, the UFO debate has undergone an unprecedented renewal in interest. Following the publication of a landmark article in  The New York Times , questions--and controversies--have surrounded the topic, as the debate over the origins of UFOs, and what level of involvement the U.S. government has had in collecting data about them, has continued.  With the recent release of a new Showtime seri...

Following the release of a June 2021 report by the Navy's UAP Task Force, many scientists have now felt compelled to pursue ways science can now be applied to the subject of UAP. Among them is Harvard Astronomer Avi Loeb, who returns to  The Micah Hanks Program  to discuss The Galileo Project, an effort by Loeb and a team of astronomers to attempt to obtain high resolution imagery and other data a...

Much of the modern discussion about UFOs revolves around the Pentagon's AATIP program, which looked at aerospace threats and culminated in the Navy's current UAP Task Force. But before any of this came along, several years ago the existence of a group called the Advanced Theoretical Physics Project was disclosed with far less fanfare. John Alexander, Ph. D., the group's founder, has been a leading...

With the recent release of a government report on UAP detailing the U.S. Navy's efforts in studying unidentified objects in U.S. airspace, questions remain about the nature and possible origins of the technologies being observed. What are they, where are they from, and how might science be applied toward resolving the questions that remain about them? One organization has continued to apply scienc...

Why don't astronomers see UFOs? If there are indeed unidentified aerial phenomena in our skies, shouldn't the scientists tasked with watching the stars see them more often? In truth, some astronomers actually  have  seen UFOs... although many, if not most, are fairly dismissive of the idea that intelligently controlled objects of unknown origin are coasting around in our skies.  That's not the cas...

Answers to the question of whether we are alone in the universe are one of humankind's oldest pursuits. Many astronomers think that the discovery of intelligent life from other worlds may happen in the decades ahead, while UFO proponents believe the evidence of their existence could already be found closer to home. However, for centuries South American shamanic rituals have told of the unique prop...
