Countdown #492   ... NINE ...   Do you have a few films that you love and yet which, to your befuddlement, failed to make any kind of splash at the box-office? In fact, they went so poorly, they belly flopped into that box-office pool and lost approximately all the money?   Paul and Wayne most certainly do. And this week they're counting their ten favourite films which completely tanked at the box...

Countdown #491   TEN.   It's barely the spooky season and Wayne is suffering in his jocks (again!) for your amusement, this time by doing the horror-adjacent topic of the Top 10 Stephen King Adaptations.   Of course, another fantastic podcast was required to make up for Wayne's many, many shortcomings, and this time that role is filled by John and Lloyd from the fantastic The Pint: A Pop Culture p...

The only way Wayne could have been any more ready for this George Clooney and Brad Pitt starring action crime comedy on Apple TV would have been if Henry Cavill and Tom Cruise were also both involved!   So how did Wayne take this Jon Watts written and directed film? Was he completely in love with its cool factor? Or did this one promise too much and deliver too little? And could it be that Paul is...

Countdown #490   The Countdown marks the beginning of the "spooky season" by convincing Wayne he could do such an episode if it was about the WORST horror films. Namely, the Worst 10 Horror Films of All Time!   But for such a massive topic, the boys needed some help. And it came in the form of the magnificent So Wizard Podcast ! Joey returns and this time, instead of Markellus, he brought with him...

Be it Conchords flying to a lonely island by way of a weird Willis, there's a littl...

It's September and while prestige TV may still be dropping things of interest, the blockbuster season at the theatre is certainly over, as evidenced by Paul scraping the bottom of the cinematic release barrel to review Afraid for you. It's Blumhouse and horror (supposedly) so Wayne was going nowhere near it - which turns out to be a very smart decision - instead opting to focus his attention on th...

Wayne or Paul's?   Make your choice by listening to this one post-haste, as The Countdown continues...   Time Stamps: Blink Twice NON-S...

Countdown #486   In their first TV-centric episode in some time, Paul & Wayne take aim at those once good TV shows that unfortunately dropped the ball and turned to seed. In other words, they're counting down their Top 10 Shark Jumping TV Shows.   Is there anything worse than The Fonz on skis and wearing his iconic leather jacket jumping over a shark? And which show jumped that shark harder: D...

It's been a lean 38 years if you're an Alien film franchise fan. From the disappointment of Alien 3 to the bamboozling direction Ridley Scott chose with the last two films, it's fair to say no old-school fan has been especially happy. So the question becomes, can Fede Alvarez do what many others before him could not and deliver a genuinely good Alien sequel?   Paul and Wayne certainly hope so, and...

Countdown #485   Wayne loves the guy and he's the flavour of the month as the messiah Marvel promised, so the boys decide to count down the very best performances from one Robert Downey Jr.   It takes about seventeen seconds for Wayne to debate the nature of this list, and only about five minutes more for Paul to reveal he's a bit down on the Downey and doesn't actually rate that many of his movie...

Countdown #484   This week the lads are talking the very best prequel films that have been made.   Now generally speaking, prequels are not exactly beloved, so listen in to hear what tenuous links the boys are making to justify their choices? Are the left field calls that Wayne makes actually prequels? And is there anything more certain that Paul having a Mad Max film on his list?   Learn the answ...

Exploding heads, fists through chesty cavities, genitalia (of the female AND male type), profanity, kink and cake farting. If that sounds like an episode of The Countdown, you haven't been watching The Boys. But Wayne and Paul have, and they're to weigh in with their thoughts on the more-divisive fourth season of the massive Amazon Prime show.   Does it hold up against the rest of the series? What...

Countdown #483   What's the discussion everyone who's a film buff has? If it's not "What's your favourite film?", it most certainly is "What film would you recommend everyone should see?". It's a truly tough question to answer, but fret no more, film buffs. Paul and Wayne have your backs this week, with 20 films (actually 18, there are two crossovers) that you can now say to people when you're ask...

34 films deep the MCU fires off its only shot for 2024 by bringing in the R-rated Merc with a Mouth and combining him with a character who had one of the best send offs ever in Wolverine. Can two characters previously owned by 20th Century Fox resurrect the fortunes of the MCU and add to Disney's coffers? Or is this just the latest in a string of failures, even if Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman wi...

Countdown #482   Music returns to the Countdown this week as Paul and Wayne square off over their favourite Pop songs of the 1980s! Two shorter reviews for you this week, as Wayne checks out rom-com Fly Me to the Moon, while Paul goes dark with the serial killer horror, Longlegs, starring everyone's favourite, Nicolas Cage.   Could there BE less in common between two films? Will Wayne be able to get past the 60s fashion in the rom-com to actually determine whether it's a good film or not? And will Paul be all about the shockin...

Countdown #481   This week the boys give some love to Sony Pictures and their virtual armada of different production companies as they countdown the best ever films Sony has produced.   Will Spider-Man films take up most every spot? Or are there a number of 80s classics for you to chew on? And has Wayne done proper research to ensure all the films on his list are actually co-produced (not just dis...

Remember that natural disaster film from the mid-90s that had a flying cow? Well, Universal Pictures, Warner Brothers and Amblin Entertainment are hoping you recall only enough to want to see another film about a bevy of twisters laying waste to Oklahoma while people chase the things across many, many flat rolling plains, because this film literally has nothing else to do with the original.   But...
