The GM often wants their villains to get away and live another day. There is a lot of benefit to a villain who stick around but players sometimes get a little annoyed when the villain escapes. That's okay, let them feel the frustration, it's worth it in the end. A lot of games let the player characters get more powerful as a campaign goes on. Sometimes though, that power gets a little out of hand and GM isn't sure how to handle it. The way you frame and deliver a scene to your players is a very important skill to hone. Especially if you want them to walk through the door instead of talking about how to open the door. Vincent and Meg Baker dropped a surprise bomb on us out of nowhere and announced a Kickstarter for Apocalypse World 3E. So, naturally, Josh wants to comb over every preview that we got. Part of the GMs job in running the game is figuring out who gets the spotlight and for how long. It can be a delicate thing to manage though and is often easier said than done. It is a constant internal debate for a GM, how much should I tell the players? How much do I keep close to the chest? What crosses into too much meta knowledge? Well we got answers to this conundrum. It's easy to make combats in your game become really samey and boring. Hit the bag of hit points until it goes down isn't always the most fun option.
