Plot Trysts

You should know before you read this that it is the first book in a duology.

The Hathaways wraps up without any coitus interruptus, which doesn't seem very on-brand. We really liked certain parts of this book, but had a hard time talking about it because PTSD is scary and your wife can't be your therapist.

We don't love this plot, we don't love this conflict, but we love this book so so so much and we basically can't stop gushing about how perfect Leo and Marks are.

The third Hathaway book may have a lackluster romance, but the sibling interactions are so good we can't recommend skipping it.

This book has a LOT going on. Even though it's the second in the series it goes back in time for several chapters of set up, there's a weird murder doctor love triangle that serves no purpose, and the pairings from book 1 and book 4 in the series get a lot of time on page. There is also a sex cabin that is a significant portion of the book and absolves all sins and you should totally read this.

This book is a total fantasy. Rich dude who desperately wants to spend his money? Check. Incredible chemistry? Check. Dude who solves all problems so his lover can sleep in? Check. Yeah, we liked this.

Batshit in the demimonde isn't very batshit, but is very filled with sexy encounters.

Longtime listeners might think Laine was the first person to roar like a lion in this episode, but it was Meg!

The adventures in Tanria have come to an end, and we end up talking much more about the arc of Tanria than Rosie and Adam's immortal place in it.

There is nothing I can put in this description that can come close to describing the crazy that is this novel. Convos with God, drugging a man so he'll knock you up, being blackmailed into marriage by a will and a butt birthmark are only the beginning.

This books plays with using characters with anachronistically modern world views in a recognizable historical romance set up. Like it or don't, it's all very deliberate.

We both very much enjoyed this low-angst romance.

This book has the best carriage sex of all time, we're pretty sure. Also, everything else about it is perfect.

Not even going to pretend that this episode isn't mostly a comparison with the original and a discussion of rewrites.

This books gets an A+ for vibes, and is very unconventional. YMMV on if that works.

Look, this series is totally adorable and this book in particular is really fun. It's one of those that comes close enough to great that the parts that fall short are more frustrating than they shold probably be because you're so mad it isn't perfect. I was too harsh in this episode, but only because it was sooo close to ideal.

I'd be lying if I said this episode was anything other than Laine fangirling over Amelia Peabody and squealing about how much fun this novella is. Sethos-coded lost all meaning because it was said too many times.

Meg and Laine disagree about the amount of world building we want in a Romantasy, but agree that this book is super cute. Please uncancel My Lady Jane, someone.
