*New Series* We are BACK babyyyyy with a brand new Halo book. Well it's an old Halo book but it's new to us. First Strike was written by Eric Nylund and released in 2003. It is the THIRD Halo book in the ever expanding Halo Novel Series. So throw on some Mjolnir armor and let's put the body in the marsh. On THIS verry special episode of Pixel Lit, Kevin and Phil push the Floating Castle out of their lives for good and while Phil does not enjoy it, he still cherishes all the memories he made of King's Quest when he was a kid. See! You too can experience media that doesn't ruin your childhood. Look at me, throwing shade at online discourse from like 2016. Anyway. Socials Twitter: https://twitter.com...

Welcome back! To the Floating Castle! It's floating? Well not anymore. It was only floating for the first few pages of the book. Now it's just Castle. And not the Nathan Fillion kind. ANYWAY, there's a lot of padding in this book, so this episodes seem to move pretty quickly. One more episode to go after this, and then on to something else! *New Series* Kevin and Phil crack open the first King's Quest novel, subtitled the Floating Castle. It was written by Craig Mills and published in 1995. King's Quest for those of you who don't know was an adventure game series created by Sierra On-Line in which the player controlled Graham on his adventures to becoming king. The series later has a few different characters take the lead, including...

We had a Q&A with Resident Evil and Marvel's Midnight Suns author SD Perry! She is a bit shy when it comes to podcasting, but was generous enough to write responses to a list of questions that we asked her. We covered a range of topics from how she got started in the write-for-hire business to which characters from Midnight Suns were her favorite. Our dear friend, and first guest EVER on Pixel...

More Bionic Commando coming hot and ready at your face! That doesn't sound right. But remember, the Bionic Commando has a HOT FINGER, so take that for what you will. This is a kid's book right? Because this was recorded at the same time as the last episode, the crunchiness is still there. Special thanks to HotCyder for joining us on this adventure! Heyyoooo, new series! Come aboard for this two parter featuring special guest HotCyder of the Bullet Time podcast. Not only does he host the preeminent podcast on shooters that have missed their mark he is the thumbnail king of youtube, and a pretty spiffy YouTuber in his own right. Bionic Commando is another Worlds of Power special, which were produced by friend of the pod Seth Godin back in the...

Heyyyyy we are finishing up ANOTHER SERIES! Would you look at that. Marvel Midnight Suns is a fun game, and a fun book. We give both our hearty PixelLit recommendation! Sometimes I write things here but I'm never sure who is reading them. So if you read the episode description today, send me one word on twitter: rutabaga. Howdy! So, I’ll be honest, right around minute 45 Kevin’s audio gets all robot voice for a few minutes. It comes back to normal! Don’t worry about it! Seriously stop worrying. FINE. You can worry about it a little bit. Anyway, in this episode we cover the middle third of Marvel Midnight Suns: Infernal Rising, and let us tell you, these villains are hilarious. Show Notes: 6:00 – Starting with Chapt...

New series! Marvel Midnight Suns: Infernal Rising is a prequel to the game of the same name and written by our most frequently read author, S.D. Perry. We are big fans of her AND the game so join us in checking out this book. Show Notes Author Bio   00:02:34:02                      Ga...

In the final episode of the Alien Isolation series, we have more flashbacks! Because we know everyone was begging for them. Also, Phil and Kevin give their final thoughts on the book, talk a little bit about Marvel's Midnight Suns and Signalis, and then Kevin rants for nearly 7 uninterrupted minutes about Elon Musk. Seriously it was impressive how fired up he got. Socials Twitter: https://twitter....

Heck yeah! Let's hear more about Amanda Ripley and her exploits on Sevastapol station! But first a flashback! And then another one! And then another one! And then another one! You get the point this book has a lot of flashbacks. Socials Twitter: https://twitter.com/pixellitpod Instagram: https://instagram.com/pixellitpod Website: https://pixellitpod.com

Happy New Year! We are back kicking off 2023 with a three part series on Alien Isolation by Keith R.A. DeCandido. The game that it is based on, also called Alien Isolation is by far one our favorite games of all time. It's set a decade or so after the disappearance of The Nostromo, the ship featured in the original Alien film. The main character is the 20-something daughter of Ellen Ripley, named...

It's our Game of the Year Episode! Phil and Kevin take turns listing their top ten games of the year, counting down to their favorite game this year. Take a listen! Do you agree with their picks? Shoot us an email over at pixel.lit.pod@gmail.com if you want! Or not! I dunno. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for joining us for our FIRST full year doing the PixelLit Podcast. Today we are looking at a short story set in the Bioshock universe with special guest Evelynn from the YouTube channel I Am Error ! The story takes place shortly before the events of Bioshock Infinite and was released as part of the leadup to the release of the game. If you are looking for something that is a "good nuanced handling of the issues handled in Bioshock Infinite" well, you're looking i...

In today's episode we wrap up Ico: Castle in the Mist! Overall: great book. And we get through the episode without too many side quests. (That's what I'm going to start calling it every time we get off topic). With Castle in the Mist wrapped up we will have a few one-off episodes to end the year on before starting next year with Alien: Isolation, so look forward to that! Show Notes 2:11  - Bo...

Welcome back to our series on Ico: Castle in the Mist. In Part 2 we find out a bit more about Yorda and her backstory. Phil has some (minor) concerns about the direction that the book is heading, but Kevin is full steam ahead for the flashback train. Ico: Castle in the Mist was written by Miyuki Mizabe and translated by Alexander O. Smith. In the Whaddya Playin segment, Phil talks about the Rose's...

New series! ICO was a game made by ICO team in the early 2000s. The game released after it, Shadow of the Colossus is must more well known but a lot of the "quiet world" design elements were first shown off in ICO. This book which was released a few years later, was written by Miyuki Mizabe and translated into english by Alexander O. Smith. So far we have been having a great time with the book! In...

Welcome to the FINALE of Dark Souls: Masque of Vindication. This book was terrible. Not going to pull any punches. What you are about to listen to is a podcast episode featuring two men just absolutely losing their faith in a book. During the Whaddya Playin segment, Kevin gets really nerdy about Marvel Snap, a collectible card game for your phone featuring Marvel Characters. See it's actually real...

Welcome back to Dark Souls: Masque of Vindication! We had a little more trouble with this section and it feels like we are starting to go off the rails a little bit with this book. We are introduced to some new characters. Those characters go away though so don't get too attached. Phil's cat interrupts by trying to climb the grate on his computer. It's a barrel of laughs and fun!  We really w...

New series! We are tackling Dark Souls: The Masque of Vindication, by Michael A. Stackpole. The book follows the adventures of an Undead named Ferranos who is traveling through the land of Trafaram on a quest to figure out why he has been awoken from death. Along the way he meets friends, enemies, bonfires and more! Show Notes 1:25 - Opening back and forth. Recap of Kevin's new podcast he is co-ho...

On Today's post-Halloween episode we are taking a look at Harlan Ellison's dystopic story and video game of the same name: I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream.
