Pathfinder Church Messages

More is not always better. Although material possessions can be a blessing they can also become a burden (so are all the monthly payments, maintenance, and cleaning that comes with them). Sometimes by having less, we can enjoy the things we have even... For many of us, life is lived not only in a constant state of momentum, but a constant state of acceleration. The key to slowing down isn’t necessarily slowing down the world around you (sometimes you can’t!) but it’s learning to slow down your... Most of us feel “the squeeze” of too much to do and too little time. But while time management allows you to squeeze more chaos into limited hours, what we really need is something more significant than that. We need to reestablish a clear sense of... There’s nothing like a new year to make you feel like you get a fresh start. But the reality is that every day is a chance to start fresh before the Father who forgives us and has compassion for us each and every morning. This weekend we’ll leave... The Old Testament prophets and even John the Baptist, talked about Jesus not just as Light, but as one coming with FIRE. Fire brings light, warmth, and protection, it purifies and refines. Maybe obscurity does it to you after a while, you just stop caring. Or maybe distraction was to blame. But when a very pregnant woman arrived in Bethlehem in need of shelter, the town looked the other way. But instead of moving on to the next town up... Hearing Mary’s story and assuming she was lying, Joseph gave into to cynicism, a judgmental spirit, and had in mind to cast her off, gently, but definitively. Yet, God in his mercy appears to Joseph and gives him another chance to do the RIGHT thing... To be the focus of everyone’s gossip, that’s a difficult place to be. We often hear there’s more to the story, but this time there really is. Still, that God would choose such a scandalous start to his plan to redeem the world? It seems unwise... Sometimes it feels like life moves on for everyone else but forgets about you. Childless and never advancing in his position as priest, Zechariah and his wife Elizabeth must’ve felt passed-over, forgotten by God. But God visits this overlooked couple... After a season of “leaning in,” now is the time to step up. God is allowing us to do something that few people get to be a part of, something few churches are healthy enough to do. The sacred opportunity is before us, now it’s time to take hold of it. Generosity is necessary to make our vision a reality, but the real benefit of your generosity isn’t only in seeing our vision filled. The need for helping children grow in their faith is well established in the Bible and in most churches. But at STJ, we believe the Next Generation is our great hope. When the culture moves away from God, it’s pretty clear where the responsibility lies. It’s always the responsibility of those who know God to pursue those who don’t know him. This week we’ll explore what it means to own that responsibility and what... Although STJ has had a great history and has been a very successful church, the needs of our present world demand that we sacrifice our comfort to keep moving forward. There’s no doubt God is at work at St. John. We‘ve prayed for it, and He has been faithful. The evidence of life change is all around us. Not all of us are capable at handling the truth; sometimes it’s just too hard to hear. Who hasn’t experienced a season in life where you really needed a friend and someone stepped in? But in order for you to have had a friend, someone had to be willing to BE a friend. There’s a fine line between intervening and meddling. While meddling usually makes a mess of things, interventions save lives. Machines are built only for the sake of productivity and efficiency, people are not. While work is a part of our God-given identity, we too easily let it become the measure of our existence.
