Will Bruin returns from a long time away from us to record what could be his final podcast with us. Will broke the news that his option was declined, but shared some thoughts on the highs and lows of 2022 and how a season with so much promise ultimately went off the rails. It's definitely worth a listen. Thanks to Fast Fashion brewery for hosting our recording session! Musics: "Bumped into Bigfoot...

The Seattle Sounders aren't quite dead, yet, but they are very much on life support after dropping two points at home against FC Cincinnati. We discuss how big of a deal it is that this 13-year of playoff qualification might now end.   This week's music: Perry Como - "Seattle", "RVIVR - "Ocean Song", Woody Guthrie - "Roll On Columbia", "Your Journey Begins" - OurMusicBox (Jay Man) (CC BY 4.0)...

Few would argue that Garth Lagerwey's eight-season tenure as Seattle Sounders GM has been anything short of highly successful. The trophies and finals and playoff appearances are all material accomplishments. But with him up for re-election and possibly other suitors lining up, now is as good of a time as any to reflect. He spent nearly an hour talking with us about the past eight years and why he...

It's probably not healthy, but Jeremiah and Aaron are full back on the Sounders' bandwagon for at least another week. And even if this ends in tears, at least we had a wonderful moment against Houston. This week's music: Perry Como - "Seattle", "RVIVR - "Ocean Song", Woody Guthrie - "Roll On Columbia", "Your Journey Begins" - OurMusicBox (Jay Man) (CC BY 4.0) Thanks to James Woollard, Sounders Pub...

Sure, it was only a half of inspired soccer AND it didn't even get us a win, but it was enough for Aaron and Jeremiah to be bullish on the rest of the regular season. This week's music: Perry Como - "Seattle", "RVIVR - "Ocean Song", Woody Guthrie - "Roll On Columbia", "Your Journey Begins" - OurMusicBox (Jay Man) (CC BY 4.0) Thanks to James Woollard, Sounders Public Address Announcer, for doing ou...

The Seattle Sounders are stuck in a bit of a rut right now, not necessarily playing badly but definitely not playing well. They're losing a lot of one-goal games these days and that's making it a little harder to have a strong opinion. We talked it through.   This week's music: Perry Como - "Seattle", "RVIVR - "Ocean Song", Woody Guthrie - "Roll On Columbia", "Your Journey Begins" - OurMusicB...

Since last we met -- all of two weeks ago -- the Sounders' season has taken a rather frustrating turn. They are now winless and scoreless in three straight and suddenly the playoffs don't seem quite as assured as they once were. We're pretty sure the difference mostly comes down to health but that is not itself a complete answer. We give our thoughts. This week's music: Perry Como - "Seattle", "RV...

In which Jeremiah plays out an analogy that compares the Timbers winning MLS Cup first driving a "For All Mankind"-esque space race for North American soccer dominance. Richard Farley joined us, too. This week's music: Perry Como - "Seattle", "RVIVR - "Ocean Song", Woody Guthrie - "Roll On Columbia", "Your Journey Begins" - OurMusicBox (Jay Man) (CC BY 4.0) Thanks to James Woollard, Sounders Publi...

The start to the MLS portion of the season did not quite go how anyone had really hoped but after winning 4 of 5, it now looks like the Sounders' season is back on track.   This week's music: Perry Como - "Seattle", "RVIVR - "Ocean Song", Woody Guthrie - "Roll On Columbia", "Your Journey Begins" - OurMusicBox (Jay Man) (CC BY 4.0) Thanks to James Woollard, Sounders Public Address Announcer, f...

Overall, the Sounders had a pretty good week. But they ended it with a loss in a perfectly winnable road game. That's not a disaster but it does continue a trend of not playing well for sustained periods.   This week's music: Perry Como - "Seattle", "RVIVR - "Ocean Song", Woody Guthrie - "Roll On Columbia", "Your Journey Begins" - OurMusicBox (Jay Man) (CC BY 4.0) Thanks to James Woollard, So...

We're here to tell you that it's not only good, but right to be insufferable.   This week's music: Perry Como - "Seattle", "RVIVR - "Ocean Song", Woody Guthrie - "Roll On Columbia", "Your Journey Begins" - OurMusicBox (Jay Man) (CC BY 4.0) Thanks to James Woollard, Sounders Public Address Announcer, for doing our sponsor reads. It is not hyperbole to observe that Wednesday's game is quite possibly the biggest in Sounders history. In order to mark the occasion, we're joined by longtime friend of the show Richard Farley. This week's music: Perry Como - "Seattle", "RVIVR - "Ocean Song", Woody Guthrie - "Roll On Columbia", "Your Journey Begins" - OurMusicBox (Jay Man) (CC BY 4.0) Thanks to James Woollard, Sounders Public Add...

Jeremiah and Aaron get comfortable with the idea that the Sounders should actually be favored over Pumas in the CCL final based on virtually everything except the league in which they play. This week's music: Perry Como - "Seattle", "RVIVR - "Ocean Song", Woody Guthrie - "Roll On Columbia", "Your Journey Begins" - OurMusicBox (Jay Man) (CC BY 4.0) Thanks to James Woollard, Sounders Public Address...

Hopefully you listen to this before Wednesday's game. And barring that, we sure hope the Sounders advance because most of what we discuss is predicated on that possibility. We think the semi against NYCFC is one of the biggest non-finals in team history and that's only become bigger now that we know the Sounders will host the second leg of the final if they advance. Get pumped y'all.  ...

Ryan Rosenblatt joins Jeremiah and Richard to discuss the World Cup draw and to share some of his experiences while following the USMNT around Concacaf.

Richard Farley suddenly has a lot of free time so he and Jeremiah decided to record a podcast about something they were discussing on Twitter. Effectively they argue that the fortunes of the USMNT are largely divorced from the long arc of American soccer at large. It's an interesting discussion that goes in several directions.   We're also really curious what you think of it. Do you want more...

Sounders look dominant in their first-leg match against Liga MX's Club León. Thanks to our sponsors Full Pull Wine and Watson's Counter! Garth Lagerwey joined us for Part 2 of YachtCon 22.5. We discussed what the new training center means for the Sounders, how that search evolved and what the Sounders must do in order to remain competitive. We'll also be sharing interviews with Garth Lagerwey and Adrian Hanauer before hopefully getting together for an IRL even this summer. enjoy.   This week's music: Perry Como - "Seattle", "RVIVR - "Ocean Song", Woody Guthrie - "Roll On Columbia", "Your Journey Begins" - OurMusicBox (Jay Man) (CC BY 4.0) Thank...

We sat down with Stef Frei for a discussion about his new project with Novo Fogo, his art work and, of course, goalkeeping. As usual, it was enlightening. The Sounders find themselves mired in a five-game winless run. Jeremiah and Aaron contemplate what's gone wrong and how to fix it. No matter what happens from here on out, this has been one of the most enjoyable seasons in Sounders history.
