Let’s Make A List!!

Holiday films are great and all, but what should you watch when it's "the most wonderful time of the year" and you aren't feeling the usual fare? This week we talk about the films we associate with Christmas and the holidays that have limited or no tie to the season, but fit right in. HAPPY FIFTIETH EPISODE OF SEASON TWO TO US!

Can you believe it's already December? Since it's the holiday season, we are giving you two-for-one (play)lists this month! Starting it off right, we skip all of the well-known commercial and traditional Christmas songs, and hit you with some that you probably haven't heard before. With Josh and Jack making selections, you know it will be eclectic, irreverent, and everything in between.

Sometimes the theme makes the show. This week we discuss our favorite theme songs from episodic television. This is definitely something we will revisit in the future as it was a VERY DIFFICULT EXERCISE to only pick five songs to represent our choices.

Most people have done escape rooms. They're a great way to pass the time and work on "getting out" with friends or co-workers. Some of the more "extreme" escape rooms are horror-themed, and well, that fits our aesthetic, so this week we are creating a crew of characters from non-horror-themed media and real life to attempt a run and escape of said type of room. Jack and Josh both approach this exe...

We spend a lot of time on this podcast talking about films with a PG-13 rating or above, but what about those with a more accessible rating? This week, we discuss what we believe to be the best animated films for the family to sit down and watch together. One franchise *may* end up with more than one entry on our combined list...but if that's the case, you know it's probably worth it!

This week we are discussing the roles for which some actors are best known...their most iconic, if you will. What makes a role define an actor? What makes an actor define a role? We talk through this and give examples of some of our favorites. Jack champions the horror genre, and the rankings get heated and contested!

As we close-out our month-long celebration of Spooky Szn, we look at a topic we haven't tackled since our first episode: villains. This time, we focus on those from the horror genre specifically, and pick-out the ones that scare us the most. There's a surprise entrant on Josh's list, and in a rarity, both Jack and Josh agree on the number one choice...

The Spooky Szn tribute continues with a band well-known for their macabre and horror-oriented lyrics; Ice Nine Kills. With this being one of Jack's favorite bands, you know lore will be involved. Josh starts off as a casual. Will he end up a Psycho? Link to the playlist created for this podcast below: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/1aJBDsUYqO1oaONA5eySO7?si=6155325448564ca6

Continuing with our month-long tribute to Spooky Szn, this week we attack the Halloween film franchise just like a certain slow, plodding killer for which the films are famous. From the originals to the remakes, we take a stab at ranking them all.

This year, we are honoring Spooky Szn with FOUR WEEKS of content that celebrates what this time of year is all about. For our first week, we are looking at our favorite scenes from horror and thriller movies. What makes a scene stand out for us? Do we have any in common? Listen and find out!

One thing this is for certain: if a film is profitable, someone is going to want to cash-in on that popularity and try to re-create that moment. That's how a lot of sequels come into being. Sometimes it works well and the follow-up becomes more popular than the original. Others fall well short of expectation. This week we are focusing on the latter. We talk about the films we think should have...

In this episode, we revisit a topic we explored last season; the best of the best from YouTube. Don't worry, we decided to retire any of our nominees from our previous review of the topic, so every channel on the list is new this time around. Will this be the week that Josh finally bests Jack? ...Probably not, but it's worth a listen anyway.

Travelling by car is a staple of American life. The Road Trip is the ultimate slice of Americana. Who you travel with can make or break the adventure. This week we discuss which fictional characters we would definitely want to have on a road trip. Jack's chaotic neutral side comes out.

If you know anything about us, you know that we love to talk about films. This week we dive into quotes that we find to be the most interesting, the most captivating and the most iconic from some of our favorite films. Some are quotable and some are used as sheer inspiration. "Say hello to our little list!"

THIS IS OUR FIFTIETH EPISODE EVER!!! Nintendo's mascot, Mario is a huge part of world culture. His video game adventures are the stuff of legends. This week we discuss our favorite adventures with everyone's favorite plumber. Lessa go!

Ancient entities and Midwives and Beilers, oh my! Jack and Josh sat down for a weekend and watched every single film in the Paranormal Activity franchise. Now we're ready to tell you what we like (and dislike) about all seven installments. From the origins of Tobi to his every connection to the complex story, we dissect the creepy, scary and downright silly in detail. So grab your best friend&...

Concessions at the movies are big business...sometimes the cost of getting snacks surpasses the cost of the ticket itself. If we are going to spend that kind of coin, we want to make sure we are getting something we enjoy. This week, we talk through our go-to items from the concession stand when we go see a film in the theatres. We have not touched snacks since early on in season one, and our choi...

Everyone has that certain film/song/game that they love that is universally panned, or even reviled. Even though you know everyone hates it, you still love it. This week we talk about those pieces of media that we will stand-up for or at least spend time with. With a change in format, will Jack keep his Log Cabin Maple Syrup title?

Roasting beloved celebrities and influential people has long been a staple of American culture. Everyone from singers and actors to athletes and politicians have sat in a chair and had their contemporaries brutally make fun of them coming from a place of love and respect. If the veil between real and fiction were somehow eradicated, what fictional characters would give the best roasts? In this epi...

Avocados unite! For this month's LMAPL, we are focusing on the works of Billie Eilish Pirate Baird O'Connell and creating what we believe to be the best fourteen song playlist available. Jack receives some help with his portion of the list from one of our favorite listeners, and he also goes for the record of most times mentioning the Saw franchise in one podcast. The plan to get Log Cabin...

We are back on the hate train! This week we discuss in great detail the musical artist and acts that everyone else seems enamored with that we cannot stand. There are sure to be some controversial opinions, but if the acts in question were not beloved by all, that wouldn't be the case.

Holidays. Those special days where we corporately celebrate someone or something. This week we look at and discuss the ones that are our favorites and throw shade at the ones we aren't so keen on. We run the gamut from federal holidays to special niche days and back again. Jack also attempts to snag a new sponsor.

If you had to pick your favorite film from a certain genre on the fly, how would you go about choosing? Inspired by a trip to the KC River Market, this week we "make our own six pack", choosing a favorite film from six different genres; comedy, thriller, sci-fi, drama, action and (of course), horror. Of course, the Saw franchise shows up somewhere on Jack's list, but exactly where mi...

WIth Jack away, Tara and Josh revisit one of the most robust musical decades; the 1990's. In this episode we choose one song that we think best represents every year of the decade. Sometimes these are chart-toppers, and sometimes there's a little nostalgia involved. Grab your flannels, your pucca shell necklaces and everything in between. We're going full-force 90's mode!

Let's say that a virus is unleashed on humanity that causes zombiism. Immediately, everything changes and survival becomes key. This week we assemble a five-person team we think would have the best chance of keeping us alive during such an event. We really had to use our braaaaiiiiinnnnsss to come up with our lists.
