Discipleship Parenting

The school year is fast approaching and with it comes a calendar packed with activities. Yet there is only one thing that needs to be on it. So, let's start with a blank page and begin imagining this school year with God-centered priorities.

Who is king of your life? As Christians, we know that Jesus is our king. Yet the temptation is to keep God out of certain areas of our lives, to choose instead to do what is right in our own eyes. Let us follow Jesus' example and fully submit, trusting that God's ways are best.

God commanded the prophets to tell everything he shared with the people of Israel. As Christians, we are called to be disciple-makers, ambassadors that teach all the Bible to the world. Are we faithful to this calling?

God and power go together. God works powerfully to bring us to faith. God works in power to make us new creations. God fills us with the power of the Holy Spirit to do His work in the world. The next generation needs to know God and His powerful acts, not powerless religion.

What parts of your life aren't working? You can usually identify them by the areas filled with anger, anxiety, selfishness, or pride. Are you willing to be humble? Are you ready to hear what God says? Are you willing to do what it takes to align your life with God's Word?

Imagine a home filled with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. One where we bear with each other and forgive one another. A place that is defined by love that brings unity. A home full of peace, thankfulness, encouragement, and singing praises to God. It sounds heavenly and it is what God desires for all families.

God has ordained sowing and reaping. The Bible says that if we sow to please the flesh, from the flesh we will reap destruction. If we sow to please the Spirit, from the Spirit we will reap eternal life. So, what are you sowing in your life?

The disciples told Thomas that Jesus had risen but he wouldn't believe it until he saw it for himself. Jesus appeared to Thomas and told him to stop doubting and believe. It is a message we all need to hear. What areas of your life are your struggling to believe God and live by His Word?

We understand the responsibility to raise kids prepared with the life skills they will need to succeed as adults. We want them equipped for everything from how to wash laundry to how to file taxes. But what if one needed skill stands out as more important than all the rest?  

It's time to look at the state of the family, specifically yours. God created marriage and the family and gives clear directions in the Bible for what they should be. So how is your family doing?

Parenting is a hard. What am I doing wrong? How do I turn things around? The Bible has the answers and encouragement we need to faithfully raise these little humans.

As Christians, we are to go and make disciples. The harvest is plentiful and the workers few. Let's obey God by praying for opportunities, going where it is uncomfortable, while remembering the blessing of doing what we were made to do.   

We live in a culture that says that truth is found within ourselves and we should live out that truth. It is a lie. There is one God and He is the only source of truth, and it is in Him that we will find what we are truly searching for. 

In a world full of anger, malice, slander, jealousy, filthy language ,  being hated and hating one another, biting and devouring each other, God calls us to be devoted to one another in love.

We are all influenced. Do the biggest influencers in your life drive you closer to Jesus or pull you further from him?

What God desires for us as his disciples is so much more than we often realize. Being brought to faith means a new mind, new desires, and a new identity - all tied to oneness with Christ.

Isaiah 40 is a powerful chapter in the Bible that gives a stark contrast between God and ourselves. It is a humbling, yet needed reminder from God and it drives us to a proper place of awe, humility and obedience before Him.     

God knows that we need Him. It is why God established numerous ways for the people of Israel to remember who He is and what He has done. As Christians, we should continue this practice, commemorating our amazing God with our children every day.

You belong. It is not because you have discovered yourself and found people that accept you as you are. No, our belonging is rooted in the God that created us, knows us, loves us, redeemed us, and called us.

War has been in the news every day this year and our emotions are running high. Which side is going to win? How long will this last? What if more countries are forced to join? War is an important topic to talk about as Christians. God addresses war, actually two kinds of war, in the Bible and His words offer us the strength and peace to live through these tough days.   

Life is hard. The struggles we face are real. Sometimes, we can feel like we are desperately clinging to life. Yet that's actually the best thing we can do as Christians. Join today's discussion as we encourage fellow Jesus followers to cling to Life.

Now is not the time to get comfortable, lose heart, or fall asleep. No, stay awake! It is the command of Jesus to Christians living in a dark world nearing the end. Yet what does this look like in our lives? How do we overcome the heaviness and weariness? 

In the Old Testament, King Josiah is grieved by the idolatry of the people and goes to work cleansing the temple of God. Fast forward to today, the Bible reveals that Christians are now the temple where the Holy Spirit dwells. Is it time for us to cleanse the temple?

The Bible is packed with life-changing truths. One of them is why God created us. As Christian parents, we have the amazing responsibility to tell our children the answers to these big life questions.
