Creativity Wasted

Creativity Wasted is a podcast where a group of creative people get together, and we each share an idea that we're not planning on pursuing in real life, such as an invention idea that's outside our area of expertise, a futuristic sci-fi movie idea, or an evil prank idea. And rather than just letting the idea quietly slip away, we get some fun out of it by joking about it together.

Personality Bracelet (Ted Moss) 07.02.2020

Idea: A bracelet (or a hologram of a bracelet projected by a smart watch) which, when you shake someone's hand, (optionally) shows them your personality quiz results, and (mandatory, by law) shows them your criminal record. That way, when you meet new people, they instantly know if you're a good person or a bad person Originally from Creativity Wasted episode 72 Alwin Sheriff (Twitter: @AlwinTheSh...

Time Tube (Kevin Smith) 07.02.2020

Idea: A sci-fi device and Netflix-like video streaming service to allow you to watch video of the past, anywhere and any time throughout history. Although, maybe it should be limited to stuff that happened more than 200 years ago, so you don't need to live in Stepford-like tyrannical politeness because people could catch you lying and/or watching pornography Originally from Creativity Wasted episo...

Individually Adjustable Window Blinds (Tom Walma) 06.02.2020

Window blinds are designed wrong, because when they are half open, they expose your groin to your neighbors and block your eyes from seeing out the window. There should be individually-adjustable window blinds controlled by an app, that way you can choose what you can see (and which body parts to expose) Brandon Ponke (IG: @bponke Twitter: @BPonke) Adam Walsh (Knuckleheads Comedy: IG: @khcomedy313...

Cars Without Batteries (Tom Walma) 03.02.2020

Idea: Cars don't need batteries. Brakelights can be LED lights with batteries built into the bulb. The speedometer and console (except the fuel gauge) can be a phone app. The electricity needed to start the car (i.e. ignition) can be obtained by electric car charging stations which are being added to parking spots. Originally from Creativity Wasted episode 70 Derek Brand (Instagram: @brand9470) To...

No Hot Shower Water Until You Floss (Tom Walma) 03.02.2020

Tom didn't floss. He bought a water pik, and he still didn't floss. He bought a water pik to go into his shower, and he still doesn't floss. So he thinks there should be an app to detect that you use the shower water pik, and if you don't use it, it blocks you from having hot water in the shower. That way, maybe he'll finally floss Originally from Creativity Wasted episode 70 Derek Brand (Instagra...

Twinkie Defense Offensive (Derek Brand) 03.02.2020

Idea: A change is needed to the criminal justice system to prevent the "Twinkie Defense" and other ridiculous criminal defenses, because sometimes they succeed. Or maybe it's a good thing that criminals try to use dumb excuses Originally from Creativity Wasted episode 70 Derek Brand (Instagram: @brand9470) Tom Walma (Twitter: @thomaswalma) Recorded at Podcast Detroit

Community-Organized Public Shaming (Bryan Deuchler) 03.02.2020

Brian wants community-run public shaming of people who do minor (legal) bad things like cutting someone off in public or insulting someone. Tom hates the idea, gets on his soapbox, and makes it awkward Originally from Creativity Wasted episode 69 Daniel Kumapayi (Twitter: @Kumapayidk) Bryan Harrison (Twitter: @DonnchaRedbeard Podcast: moistdefinitelypodcast.com) Bryan Deuchler (Twitter: @MrDrRobot...

Baby Translator (Bryan Harrison) 03.02.2020

Idea: A "baby translator" should be possible by now. Or at least a giant mother-scaring helmet that can analyze the baby's brain waves and figure out why it's crying, including where on its body a pain signal is coming from. Although this would lead to social pressure to use the brain-scanning helmet whenever out with the baby in public, such as on an airplane Originally from Creativity Wasted epi...

Open Mic Franchising (Daniel Kumapayi) 03.02.2020

Idea: Franchising of standup comedy open mics (and possibly other types of shows, like burlesque) by selling promotional templates, merch, and maybe even audio equipment as a package to people who want to run shows in other towns Originally from Creativity Wasted episode 69 Daniel Kumapayi (Twitter: @Kumapayidk) Bryan Harrison (Twitter: @DonnchaRedbeard Podcast: moistdefinitelypodcast.com) Bryan D...

Shock Collars for People (Steve Kaz) 30.01.2020

Idea: Shock collars or "shock ankle bracelets" for unruly children, comedians who're bombing on stage, or people who're trying to quit smoking. Also, if in public, is it more humane (or less in-humane) to discretely shock someone's ankle or visibly spray them in the face with a spray bottle? Steve Kaz (IG: @kazthecomic) Brandon Ponke (IG: @bponke Twitter: @BPonke) Adam Walsh (Knuckleheads Comedy:...

Pet Talking Device (Jacob Barr) 27.01.2020

If they invented a device to allow dogs and cats to talk, they'd be better pets.
