Comic Patrol Pod

What do you get when you take 4 robots of vastly different classes, stick a mark on each of them and expect them to co-exist together or they all die as a group? A very unique, twisted and hilarious book in the most pleasantly unexpected way. That's a lot of words in one sentence, but listen in and trust us on this one. Read. This. Book.

It's the latest Shadowman relaunch, finally! One of us has a bit of a soft spot for this Valiant property, so with some high hopes as Cullen Bunn takes over to pen the story.  Does the first issue deliver on the expectations of one half of Comic Patrol? Let's take a first glance at it and see.

Coming off the heels of the magical WandaVision, we get the more grounded The Falcon & The Winter Soldier, and here are our thoughts on this playful, but very politically charged Disney/Marvel show. It's hard to compete with the first series that came out, because it was such a wild ride. This one is a ride as well, but not nearly as wild and not quite as fun either. Who will be the next Captain A...

Based on the graphic novel of the same name, I Kill Giants is a movie all about killing giants, and how a sassy grade school student would go about doing while still having to deal with real world issues like bullying, peer pressure and family drama.  Having not read the book before watching this flick, we definitely had some thoughts on how it all goes down. (P.S. the referenced joke in the begin...

We're finally here: the final chapter in Dawn of X (which only means the beginning of the Reign of X era, but whatever). We've covered this whole rebrand from House of X up to this point and here we can finally decide if it was all worth it. 10 fighters from Krakoa, 10 fighters from Arakko in a tournament for the future... it is X of Swords, babyyyy So without giving away spoilers in the descripti...

The "DCEU" hasn't had the best track record, but it has a couple gems - a couple winners, if you will. Birds of Prey & the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn is the eighth film in the extended universe that DC never officially named, but it's one of the few we didn't naturally hate or strongly dislike.  Margot Robbie loves herself some Harley Quinn, and we love ourselves some Harley...

If the premise of people who have sex, freeze time and decide to do criminal-y things doesn't appeal to you, then this Arc Analysis episode isn't for you. But at the same time, if that premise alone doesn't appeal to you at all, then Comic Patrol isn't for you, and live a horribly boring life. I'm sorry that you are weak and won't survive the winter. All joking aside, this book is unique as hell a...

Let's be real here: Batman TAS is one of the greatest animated shows ever made. It's not hard to see why we can't leave it alone for too long, especially an episode that touts Penguin, Joker, Killer Croc, Two-Face and Poison Ivy in a poker game, exchanging stories about how they each nearly defeated The Batman. The 35th episode of season 1 is a standout in this series, and it's a lot of fun.

It's the extravaganza we've all been waiting for! The Snyder Cut is here and we talk about it and the new features that it.. uh.. features.

Hey, at this point, people are pretty much sick of hearing the word "WandaVision", but it was a damn great show. A lot of feelings, predictions, speculations and theories have been born from it, and the internet was busy for the near two month stint of it's rollout. You know what the best part of rampant internet speculation and theories is? When they're wrong. Not because I like seeing people eat...

We both really enjoyed the first Wonder Woman flick, and we consider it to still be one of DCEU's best, even to this day... So we were amped for the sequel: Wonder Woman 1984. However, it wasn't amped for us... or whatever. It has Wonder Woman in it. And magic stuff. And hey, it's not great, but we reviewed it anyways because we love you (?).

Who doesn't love Keanu Reeves? He's breathtaking. And that is why to start our second run of our "First Glance" series (which basically means reading the comic and talking about it the day it comes out), we chose his comic book, BRZRKR. It's hardcore, guy. We'll be following this series as it drops, one issue at a time, independent of our regular episodes, and other supplemental series. Enjoy, you...

Welp, we still have issues. So many, in fact, that we decided to follow up our first iteration with Volume 2! We each went into our grab bags and scooped out 4 issues a piece, read all 8 on our own time, and came together to discuss and dive into the ones we want to continue reading and the ones we never want to see again.. Ever. Enjoy it or off yourself. Issues covered in this episodes: - Tom Str...

Our second First Glance (it makes sense, don't worry about it) 4 months later! After a number of delays the next issue of The Last Ronin is here, and we dive into it because it's Turtles.. And you know we love our Turtles! We'll be following this series as it drops, one issue at a time, independent of our regular episodes, and other supplemental series. So enjoy it or perform seppuku, you disgrace...

Welcome to the final DOX installment before the X of Swords event. Cable blows up some stuff, Glob shows his depth, Kwannon is alpha, Magneto is the chosen one, the X-Factor team visits Mojoverse, Beast continues being Krakoa's resident dickhead, Wolverine is in Thunder Bay and Storm's techno virus story comes to an end. Covered in this episode: Cable #3, #4 New Mutants #12 Hellions #3, #4 Maraude...

What. A. Drop! Late last week, we were all dumped on by Disney's MCU plans for the next TWO phases: four and five.. And mama mia, was it ever a lot. Some of it good, some of it unnecessary, and we both have our opinions on the rollout and the choices moving forward.  Sidenote: We only cover the MCU drop in this, not the Star Wars or other reveals

We're trying something a little new (and simple) this time around for episode 45, and boy, do we ever have issues. We each went into our grab bags and scooped out 4 issues a piece, read all 8 on our own time, and come here to discuss and dive into the ones we want to continue reading and the ones we never want to see again.. Ever. This was fun to break away from the main Big Two superheroes and su...

Across the Pages (AxP) is our series where we take two similar-ish characters/teams/properties from different creators or publishers and give their various forms of media a well-deserved spotlight. This time, it's all about the over-powered, underused elementals of DC and Marvel: Swamp Thing the avatar of The Green and Iceman, the omega level, ice-powered mutant. Easily comparable characters for a...

It came out 4 years ago, yes, but we've never talked about it... So here it is. The fact that it goes on for longer than most of our Bottle Cap Reviews is enough to prove that we had lots to talk about, from Harley to Deadshot to Boomerang to Slipknot to that damn soundtrack. And Joker. The, um... very unique take on Joker. Bottle Caps away!

One thing we love doing on our Arc Analysis series: finding hidden gems, outside of the big 2 publishers, like this comic right here. It's as self-explanatory as they come and that is a nice change of pace from epic, sprawling adventures for a more focused, but grizzly idea. Check out why on our 14th episode of Arc Analysis. Or don't... but then we won't be able to save you.   -- If you want to re...

It can be a challenge to keep up with comic releases week over week, but with IDW's new release of Eastman and Laird's The Last Ronin, we couldn't help ourselves.  We'll be following this series as it drops, one issue at a time, independent of our regular episodes, and other supplemental series. So enjoy it or perform seppuku, you disgrace.

This is the Light of X, our next wave of X-Men books, and it's... Something. Deadpool shows up in Krakoa, Magneto is feeling constructive, the origins of Fantomex, the New Mutants set sights on the DOX people, Psylocke asserts herself as the alpha, X-Factor debuts, new revelations about Kate's disappearance and vampires in snow?! Covered in this episode: Deadpool #6 Giant Size X-Men: Magneto #1 Ne...

The next drop in our Dawn of X coverage: welcome to the Cockcrow of X, when the cock crows or the crow cocks... Whatever. Our first look at the Hellions team, London is under siege, Beast gets what's coming, Wolverine has a plan, Empyre hits the X-Men, Vulcan's benders, booty and Emma has a UFO!? Covered in this episode: Hellions #1 Marauders #10 Excalibur #10 New Mutants #10 X-Force #10 Giant Siz...

More Dawn of X coverage up your alley (finally) with our 5th (technically 6th) entry in this Marvel relaunch. Why is it so difficult to bring Kate back? Silence - psychic rescue in progress, some Colossus stuff cometh, the Brood, the New Mutant gang back together.. all of them! The first issue of Cable, the final issue of X-Men/Fantastic 4 and a sneak peak at what's to come with the X of Swords cr...

Once upon a time, way back in the early to mid 90's, there was this super cool, super edgy cartoon where humans had turned into mutants and they all played sports. In these sports they played, it wasn't uncommon for an athlete to lose a limb or three, or come close to a brutal death. This was Mutant League. Despite our childhood subconsciousness' best efforts to lead us to believe that this show w...
