Coaster Radio: The Original Theme Park Podcast

It's the start of a New Year!  Happy 2013! To celebrate, we'll look forwards and backwards. We'll take a look at all of the Best New Attractions from 2012 and how they affected parks across the world. Which rides were hits?  Which ones were misses?  Which one will be crowned the "CoasterRadio.com Best New Attraction of 2012?"  We'll find out on this week's episode. We'll also have an in-depth disc...

This week, we do something on the show that hasn't been done since October 10, 2005! For the first time in seven years, an episode of Coaster Radio will not be hosted by either Mike or EB. Instead, we welcome several guest hosts! First, as master of ceremonies, we're happy to welcome Ricky Brigante... host of the extremely popular and longest running Disney podcast in the world, Inside the Magic ....

Earlier this year, we were amazed when we got to see "World of Color" at Disney California Adventure. It was absolutely amazing what the Imagineers could do with water, light and music.  "Backyard Imagineers" can do something similar around the winter holidays.  They take thousands of lights and animate them to music using computer technology!  It's like having a mini World of Color in your front...

We're just a few days away from Christmas... but the presents are here early! My friends, it's time for the 2012 Coaster Radio Holiday Spectacular! There are a ton of gifts under the tree, including... * Mike and EB's eerie predictions for theme parks in 2013. * A Live Trip Report from Silver Dollar City * A new "Christmas Carol" from one of the most famous theme park figures of 2012. * The return...

Here's a trivia question for you... Besides Walt Disney, who was Mike Collins' hero when he was growing up? The answer: Bob Barker from The Price is Right. Mike never got to meet Walt, but he did get a chance to meet Mr. Barker shortly after he retired from his game show. On this week's show, Mike and EB will channel Bob's spirit as they unleash a new game show...  THEME PARK SMARTS! CoasterRadio....

One of the great things about being a fan of theme parks is getting to know the creative stories and legends behind each attraction. With all due respect to other theme park companies, no one does this better than Disney. The story and immersive atmosphere of the "Haunted Mansion" attractions captivate guests around the world. Recently, a group of filmmakers, special effects artists, composers and...

We're about three weeks away from Christmas... so now's the time to start looking for holiday gifts for family and friends. OR... it might be the time for you to start dropping hints about what you're interested in seeing under the tree. Odds are, whether you're giving or receiving, you have theme park fans in your life. On this week's episode of Coaster Radio, we're here to help! It's the 2012 Ho...

On this week's show, EB and Mike let the listeners vent on what they are most (and least) thankful for at the theme parks this year. It's a chance to give thanks and complain at the same time! Plus, the guys discuss some of the big announcements made at the amusement industry's major trade show - IAAPA. Mike and EB will be joined by Clint Novak and The Legend from the "In The Loop" podcast. Clint...

We've all been at the park and seen a parent or other adult forcing a kid onto a roller coaster or other intense thrill ride. Maybe the kid is just a bit scared... but other times the kid is shrieking in sheer terror. On this week's show, we ask the Coaster Radio audience... What Would You Do? Would you get involved?  Would you stay away?  Would you watch as if it were bonus entertainment that you...

Sometimes there are big stories in the amusement industry... Maybe a new roller coaster is announced or a new park is being built somewhere. But sometimes there are stories that come along that entirely change the landscape of the entertainment industry. One of those stories happened this week. The Walt Disney Company announced that it would be purchasing Lucasfilm for $4.05 billion. This includes...

All Hallows Eve is almost upon us.... This week, we have the perfect show to get you in the "spirit" of Halloween. Mike and EB start this week's show with a bit of talk about whether or not Walt Disney World and Disneyland should consider an "adult-oriented" Halloween event at their parks. Universal Studios has pretty much cornered the market in Orlando and Southern California... but could Disney...

Here at the Original Theme Park Podcast, we love Halloween. We also love good horror movies from the 80's. So, imagine if someone made a throwback horror film that was set in an old, closed down amusement park... Yeah, they'd have our attention. On this week's all new episode, we talk with Cary Hill.  He's the writer and director of a brand new 80's-style horror film - Scream Park. The entire film...

It's fun to visit theme parks any time of the year, but there's something a bit more special about visting them around Halloween. We love Halloween here at the Original Theme Park Podcast!  We love it so much, that this is the first of three shows dedicated to the spookiest time of year. This week's show starts out with a bit of a shocker! You'll have to listen to the first 30-seconds to see what...

Any new listeners to our show might only know it has being hosted by Mike and EB. But back in 2005, the show was hosted by the five guys you see on the right. When the new version of CoasterRadio.com came out in 2009, Mario Flava and Greg had all moved on to other things.  But as a listener said this week, they will always be a part of the show. But over the past year, many listeners (new and old)...

EB and Mike take a look at the animation for "Gatekeeper," the new B&M Wingrider coaster coming to Cedar Point in 2013.

As we get warmed up for Season Seven, here is another "Coaster Commentary" where Mike and EB take a look at "X-Flight"...the new winged coaster at Six Flags Great America. The guys also take a virtual ride on Six Flags Great Adventure's new serpentine water slide "King Cobra."

CoasterRadio.com was recently at the Prince William County Fair in Manassas, Virginia. This is video from the midway!

It seems like only yesterday we were celebrating Memorial Day, the unofficial kickoff to summer. Now, Labor Day weekend is upon us and the hot summer will soon turn to the chilly fall. The end of the summer season also means the end of the sixth season of Coaster Radio. To celebrate, we're bring our "in-park" shows to a whole new level. This week, we podcast from not one, but TWO parks. Mike Colli...

Just like Marty McFly returned to 1955 in "Back to the Future: Part II," it's time for a sequel to your favorite "bodacious" radio show! Mike and EB return to the "80's Movie Podcast" for a look at the greatest movies from the greatest decade ever! There's a ton of discussion about favorite 80's flicks like Ghostbusters, Teen Wolf and The Goonies. But we also have interactive games, audience quest...

When you're riding a really good theme park attraction, it's a true treat for the senses. You're being bombarded with visual imagery, scents, tactile sensations and immersive soundtracks. On this week's episode of the Original Theme Park Podcast, we're going isolate one of those senses and focus on what you hear when riding some of the world's best theme park attractions. You'll want to grab a pai...

What makes a roller coaster legendary? There are probably a lot of good answers to that question. But when a roller coaster is dismantled before it has a chance to grow old, odds are is going to be talked about and remembered for a long time. On this week's show, we talk about Kings Island's Son of Beast... a ride that is scheduled to be dismantled to make way for something new. The ride was groun...

As theme park fans, we've all done marathons on our favorite rides when the lines aren't long. Maybe we've been lucky enough to stay on our favorite roller coaster for several laps in a row on a slow day at the park. But most of us haven't had to endure staying on an amusement park ride for more than 24-hours in a row. On this week's show, we'll talk to Robbie Gibson... he's better known as "Robbi...

If you listen to a weekly show about theme parks and roller coasters, it's probably safe to say that you're obsessed. (And we dig that, man!)  But this obsession of yours had to start somewhere. Do you remember your very first ride on a roller coaster? Even if you don't, a bunch of CoasterRadio.com listeners do!  This week, many of them (along with Mike and EB) will tell their stories about the fi...

There are only a few attractions in the world that a true thrill ride aficionado would think twice about riding. One may have just opened in Southern California. Six Flags Magic Mountain just unveiled the world's tallest drop tower ride... Lex Luthor: Drop of Doom. Maxing out at 400 feet with a top speed of 85 mph, this new ride has been making enthusiasts wonder if they have what it takes to ride...

As a bonus to this week's regular episode of CoasterRadio.com, we have produced one of our "Coaster Commentaries!" Yes, we know Lex Luthor: Drop of Doom at Six Flags Magic Mountain isn't a roller coaster, but it's unique and downright scary enough to devote an entire video podcast to it.
