Anthony Whitlock's Podcast

June has arrived and with it comes the latest edition of Pride Anthems. This 9th edition is filled with original classic songs that filled dance floors at Pride parties around the world as well as some updated remixes. Dirty Disco and Swishcraft Music have been putting out some truly awesome Pride remixes over the last few years and I have used three of them for this compilation. Australian female...

The May '22 edition of UP! starts off with some great commercial house hits and moves into main room floor fillers. Kicking off the set is the David Guetta, Ella Henderson & Becky Hill collaboration "Crazy What Love Can Do". Ella Henderson features again later in the set with her track "This Is Real". Division 4 turns in a funky house mix of "Sold My Soul" by Dan Slater & Zoe Badwi and Dav...

I was going through my back catalogue of podcasts and realized that it has been ten years since I posted a vocal trance episode. I don't play a lot of trance anymore but I thought I would dust off some classics for this edition. Remixers such as Darren Tate, Lange, Airbase, Darude and Le Nord turn in amazing efforts on this traditional vocal trance collection. These 10 tracks hit a little harder t...

The April '22 edition of UP! is a little late coming out admittedly, but makes up for it with a collection of funky and big room house vocals. I've used quite a few male vocals on this edition as well. The set kicks off with the song "Trust" followed by Becky Hill's "Run". TRAIG has been pumping out some new music and his latest "High On You" gets the Division 4 remix treatment. Some funky house t...

This years edition of Mardi Gras Men, celebrating all male artists who have topped the charts and been heard at Mardi Gras parties over the years, has a diverse range of artists spanning five decades. With this set, I flipped from 2000's to 80's to 70's a few times to break up the sounds. The set kicks of with Wayne G's remix of "God Walking Into A Room" by Darren Hayes then jumps back to Feargal...

Following hot on the heels of Mardi Gras Anthems 17 come Mardi Gras Anthems 18. I had to squeeze this one in before I go away for my birthday which happens to be Mardi Gras party/parade night on March 5th. This edition again covers artists with big hits from the 2000's onwards however there are a few classics from the 70's and 80's thrown in to keep the mix interesting. Once again, a huge thank yo...

It's that time of the year again, March which means that the Mardi Gras festival and party is in full swing and that means another edition of Mardi Gras party anthems. Songs that set the dance floor on fire but with  updated remixes. This 17th edition covers artists from the 80's through to the 2010's. Before I get into it, I have to give a very special thank you to Mark from Dirty Disco and Rober...

It's getting closer to March and Sydney'd Mardi Gras but before that I have the February '22 edition of UP! for you. This edition has some commercial pop and house tracks blended with some big, floor filling anthems. The set kicks off with tracks from Ashley Paul, Jessie J and Gayle's massive hit "ABCDEFU". Dirty Disco turn out a stunning remix for Taylor Swift's "Message In A Bottle" as well as f...

Just scraping in before the end of the month comes the first edition of UP! for 2022. The January edition is late because I moved from Sydney to Melbourne in December and have only just set up my decks. This is also the reason there wasn't a December 2021 edition. This set starts with some funky house tracks and transitions into uplifting, main room anthems. Kicking off is the Chris Brogan track "...

The November '21 edition of UP! is a little funkier in the house department for the opening four tracks or so. The set kicks off with the 2K21 Remix of "So Many Times" by Taito Takiro and is followed up by the new Mark Knight remix of "Believe" by Ministers De La Funk. Great house tracks from Bauuer and Cactushead lead into some more commercial pop tracks from Kylie Minogue, Tiesto, Alex Adair and...

The second remixer/producer in this limited 'Best Of' series is Wayne G. I can't remember exactly when I first met Wayne. I have a feeling it was back in the late 90's at either a Mardi Gras party or when he was guest DJ'ing at ARQ or The Midnight Shift in Sydney. I do remember hearing him play for the first time and making my way to the DJ booth to introduce myself (naturally). Like most of the b...

It's been six years since the last edition of Euphoria. I guess time flies when you're battling your way through a pandemic. Anyway, I decided for this edition to get back to basics with some classic extended anthems from days gone by. Tracks from mark Morrison, Katy Perry, Kim Sozzi Lisa Frazier and Melanie C are remixed by Matt Darey, Almighty, Tony Moran, Shanghai Surprize and 7th Heaven amongs...

The October 2021 edition of UP! kicks off the first half of the set with some uplifting, commercial house tracks from artists such as Little Mix, Zara Larsson, Tommy Marcus, Matt Goss and Madonna. The back end of the set moves into main room anthem territory with tracks from Ray Azuma, Ricki Ben Ari, Lil Naz X and Olivia Rodrigo. So many good remixes from Dopamine, Ray Isaac, Division 4, Dave Aude...

Welcome to a new limited edition series called 'Best Of'. These episodes will focus on the artists who remix and produce some of the best songs to hit the dancefloors around the world. To kick the series off, I wanted to start with Division 4 (aka Robert)  who is a good friend of mine here in Sydney. We have worked at several venues together in the pre COVID club era at events such as UP! and Rise...

This second edition of Essential Justin Bieber goes in a completely different direction than the previous one. Some of these tracks appeared on the first edition but I've used mostly different songs and the remixes are very much in the electro house/big room territory. Remixers such as Afrojack, DJ Laszlo, Paulo & Jackinsky, Roberto Ferrari and Thiago Antony did not come to play around and lau...

The September '21 edition of UP! is a commercial house journey featuring artists such as Katherine Ellis, Rita Ora, Little Mix, Jonas Brothers, The Weeknd and even new music from Deborah Cox. Outstanding remixes across the board from producers such as 7th Heaven, Division 4 & Matt Consola, Dirty Disco, Offer Nissim and Mark Knight to name a few. As the pandemic drags on around the world, let's...

I can honestly say that I never thought I would have done an Essential mix for Justin Bieber. When he first burst onto the music scene as a 14 year old or whatever age he was, it was safe to say that I wasn't his target audience. But I have to say that as Justin has grown and matured, so has his music. It was virtually impossible to do a chronological playlist of his hits because the remixes are s...

The August '21 edition of UP! is jam packed with vocal house and club anthems. The final month of summer in the north and winter in the south (Hooray - I hate winter), are fare welled with some uplifting, melodic tracks from artists such as Jessie Ware, Marcella Detroit, Kelli-Leigh, Jessie J, Ed Sheeran and the Jonas Brothers to name a few. 7th Heaven and Dirty Disco feature two excellent remixes...

The July 2021 edition of UP! was supposed to be ready for the American 4th of July long weekend but I dropped the ball on this one - apologies. This edition kicks off with some strong house tracks from Cedric Gervais, Mark Knight and Christina Grimmie. Dirty Disco feature three outstanding remixes in this set for Katy Perry, P!nk and Ani respectively. Ralphi Rosario and Craig J Snyder have teamed...

Continuing the all male vocal sets comes Men 15. The past editions of Men have related to Mardi Gras Men which have been a mixture of gay and straight male vocalists. For this first edition of Pride Men, I wanted to feature only male artists who identify as gay or non binary. I wanted this set to be Pride personified for gay men but still be accessible to all lovers of great male club anthems. Art...

I know I said I was going to post the 8th edition of Pride Anthems in July but I got bored waiting :) So here it is now, Pride Anthems part 8. This edition heads back to the 90's and 2000's with some classic remixes from Hex Hector and Dezrok respectively for I5 and Jennifer Lopez. I had a tough time deciding which Moto Blanco remix of Mary J Blige to use but eventually settled on "We Ride". Wayne...

It's that time of the year again where summer kicks off in the northern hemisphere which means Pride celebrations also kick off. For this 7th edition of Pride Anthems, I've reached back to the 90's and early 2000's for some classic, uplifting vocal house anthems. The set kicks off with the Almighty mix of Obsession's cover of "If I Can't Have You". Up Yer Ronson had a big club hit with "Lost In Lo...

The May 2021 edition of UP! leaps out of the gate right from the start. The set kicks off with Olivia Rodrigo's new track "Deja Vu", masterfully remixed by Dirty Disco. Mark from Dirty Disco features three additional remixes in this set for The Weeknd, Bebe Rexha and Dua Lipa. Mike Soriano puts a great spin on "There Must be Love" by David Morales and Brett Oosterhaus has a great new anthem with K...

The April 2021 edition of UP! is a little late off the press but, you know - reasons. The set is a blend of smooth House/Electro and Club mixes. Kicking it off is Joel Corry's "Sorry". This is followed up by Olivia Rodrigo's massive hit "Drivers License" brilliantly remixed by Dirty Disco. I continue to thank Mark from Dirty Disco for his generous releases and 4 of them feature in this set. 7th He...

I was a little surprised that it's been 6 years since I made the first Essential Taylor Swift back in 2015. She has released so many great songs since then with some superb remixes to go along with them. With this second edition of Taylor Swift I wanted to use completely different tracks than I did on volume 1. The only repeat track here is "Blank Space" because the Luis Vazquez remix is awesome....
