Spoil Me

Thank you to Heather for commissioning this episode! It has been a minute since the last section of reading, but thankfully I remembered most of it and I had Heather in the chat reminding me of key details that I needed to know. This is the section where Jordan is put through her paces in the new unit, and we get some outside POVs to get an idea what else is going on in this super-powered underbel...

Thank you to Ashleigh for commissioning this episode! This is the one where Remi invites Otis and Eric to go camping, and we're left to wonder whether Remi has ever gone camping in his entire life. While they regroup in a hotel, Otis figures out that his dad cheated on his new wife too, and Eric confesses what's been going on with Adam. Meanwhile, Maeve is struggling with trusting her mother again...

Thank you to Candace for commissioning this episode! I'm restarting this series with next to know memory of what I've seen so far, and I'm really enjoying coming back to it. I am not having the same issues I did the first time with telling characters apart, and I'm making some connections I didn't bother to make with the original book by Shirley Jackson. Also, this is very scary. Thanks for listen...

Thank you to Ashleigh for commissioning this episode! So this is the episode where things finally come to a head between Otis and Maeve. I was concerned about her timing telling him how she felt about him, and it seems that Otis kind of felt the same. It winds up backfiring on him because he can't stop thinking about her when he's supposed to be experiencing his "first time" with Ola...and she can...

Thank you to Candace for commissioning this episode! I am so delighted with this film. I wish that I could watch a "making of" or something like that, but i'm staying away from anything that could potentially spoil this creator's other work (which Candace wants me to remain unspoiled on) so I will have to wait. I thought this was a beautiful, moving story with gorgeous imagery and a nice balance o...

Thank you to Karyn for commissioning this episode. What am I supposed to do now that this ABSOLUTELY PERFECT show is over? What?

Thank you to Gabriela for commissioning this episode! OMG y'all I'm just not ready for this show to be over. I'm not. I'm just not. I'm not.

Thank you very much to Patricia for commissioning this episode! In these chapters, we're coming up on the end of the book and things are beginning to get serious for Kit, who has become more wrapped up in everything than is really healthy for him. He begins to experience a distance from the world around him, and it becomes clear to us that he's displaying some of the symptoms we've been watching D...

Thank you to Lindsey for commissioning this episode! It's the last commissioned episode of Broadchurch, and we say farewell to the Danny Latimer storyline (or so it seems for now) in a very satisfying way. I was really invested in what happened to Joe, and while I'm appalled and devastated at the fact that he was found not guilty, I think the way the town chose to handle it was absolutely perfect....

Thank you to Karyn for commissioning this episode, and for commissioning the live-watch of it. I think I very nearly had either a heart-attack or an orgasm on camera, I'm not sure which. This is the one where the thing happens. You know the one. There's a confessional booth? That one. Oof.

Thank you to Ashleigh for commissioning this episode! I have some theories about the intentions of this show, and I would be interested to hear all your views about them as well. Do you think Otis was centered for the same reasons I do? Doesn't really matter either way, but I do really appreciate the diversity in cast and storytelling. This is the episode where Eric goes on a spectacular date, onl...

Thank you so much to Arielle and Rachel for commissioning this episode! I had heard very mixed things about this movie, and I actually think that in the end that was a good thing. I wound up liking it more than I expected, especially once I began to settle on the theory that the writers of the show don't like Logan any better than I do, and MEANT for us to be annoyed by Veronica's choices. I'm ver...

Thank you to Jessie for commissioning this episode! Alright, so I'm kind of hard on this episode and this season in particular. I'm gonna let the episode speak for itself. Thanks so much for listening!

Thank you to Ashleigh for commissioning this episode! This is the one in which Otis tries fingering Ola for the first time, and it DOES NOT GO WELL. Based on what he did to that poor orange, she's lucky to have escaped without tissue damage. Meanwhile, Jean makes a presentation at his school, and despite making a good impression at the parent conference, she doesn't know what to say to an auditori...

Thank you Tristen for commissioning this episode! In this section, we find out that the being who has been visiting Nita in her dreams is actually Darryl, which I guess I SHOULD have seen coming but totally didn't for some reason. She's able to communicate with him enough to get some information that she investigates further in her Manual, and we find out there's something very special about Darry...

Thank you to Ashleigh for commissioning this episode! The start of the second season is very strong so far, and I'm just getting hung up on the usual thing; I'm annoyed with Otis most of the time, and the stories tend to wrap up way too easily without a lot of acknowledgment of the trauma caused by the plot. That said, I'm excited to see where this season takes us, and I'm delighted that it looks...

Thanks to Arielle for commissioning this episode! So this season finale is a real wild example of some of the show's best ideas, because it comes right at the end of a pretty terrible, disconnected, and tone-deaf season. I spend the majority of this episode spinning out a fan-fiction of how Season 3 could have gone if the writers had capitalized on this concept from the beginning, which would have...

Thank you to Sophie for commissioning this episode! Alright, so I'm starting to get impatient with this season. I think that the first murder storyline is just so much more compelling because I actually like some of the people involved, while the Sandbrook storyline COULD have grabbed me if anyone but the victims had seemed remotely sympathetic. I really just want to focus entirely on Joe's court...

Thank you to Krista for commissioning this episode, and this entire book! These chapters wrap things up in a way that is so efficient as to almost feel rushed, but we also end at almost the exact moment that Rob is defeated (OR IS HE) so it still works. Turns out that Mathilda is the key to everything, and I wonder if the fact that she low-key saves them, or the fact that a sentient robot was the...

Thank you to Arielle for commissioning this episode! Wow, I can't believe that we're dropping a mystery like this the episode before the season (and, temporarily, series) finale. This episode was sort of overshadowed by what happens with the sex tape at the end, but I should mention that I actually enjoyed the mystery with Weevil. The only thing that bums me out is how Veronica has continued to mi...

Thank you to Krista for commissioning this episode! In these chapters, we begin to see everything come together; we've got robots achieving sentience, we've got a little girl whose robotic eyeball implants are the key to a few puzzles, and we've got the whole movement towards Alaska that will eventually result in finding the heart of Archos. Here we goooooooo! Thanks for listening!

Thank you Rachel for commissioning this episode! I really found this episode fascinating even though I loathe the whole scenario of "You have just accidentally done The Worst Thing! How will you cover it up???" because it gives me a bone-deep anxiety that I can barely handle. I really find the whole interaction between Claire and Fleabag to be so interesting, but I mean, let's be real, what we're...

Thank you so much to Krista for commissioning this episode! In these chapters, we find out that Rob has been doing some experimental shit on people and I'm super duper not interested. DO YOU HEAR ME? I WILL NOT BE REQUIRING A NEWSLETTER. I WOULD LIKE NOT TO KNOW THIS. Thanks for listening!

Thank you to Ashleigh for commissioning this episode! THE FIRST SEASON IS ALREADY OVER! I can't believe it! But I really enjoy the heck out of this show and I'm pleased to hear that there's apparently a third season on the horizon. This finale falls into the unfortunate trap that so many shows do, where the lead character is assumed to be the person we're rooting for, and it feels like he's being...
