Spoil Me

Thank you very much to George for commissioning this episode! In these chapters, we FINISH THE BOOK! And shit ends on a helluva cliffhanger. We've got Shera working with an Awakened weapon and apparently she's Soulbound now! Meanwhile, someone gets away with the Heart, and Calder says that they're going to have to team up together. Meia gets captured somehow (she was unconscious lol) and the cliff...

Thank you so much to Heather for commissioning this episode! These chapters are the ones where we find out that Doctor Spears is an alien from another planet who has been here on earth for what SOUNDS like millenia, and I'm so curious what could be going on back on his home planet. Will they be sending follow-up folks if their agents don't return? Also, there's a badass scene with Jordan that I re...

Thank you so much to Jacob for commissioning this episode! Here's the link for the document that Jacob thoughtfully made comparing the updated version of this section with the original. I hope that you all find it as helpful as I did! https://docs.google.com/document/d/1tWAwmN8Tx7UQ85FK0d9ELafZK685leziizz14sGxJuA/edit?usp=sharing I will let this episode speak for itself. See you soon with the fina...

Thank you to George for commissioning this episode! I can't believe there's only one episode left after this. It caught me by surprise! We start here with the first time (I think) that Lucan Reads Shera's blade, and it's really interesting to learn about the origin of this metal and the various levels of intention and meddling it's gone through. This is all a prelude to the Emperor's big moment on...

Thank you so much to Heather for commissioning this episode! So in these chapters we get to see Dr. Spears, who sucks, doing some experimenting from what is apparently a remote facility, located on perhaps a whole different continent from the test subjects themselves. He's trying to do the thing that Tretyak can apparently do with just a sip of blood; Awaken a normal, average human being. However,...

Thank you to George for commissioning this episode! So these chapters are the ones in which Calder shows up with the Emperor's crown on his head, and he's able to command everyone around him because they'd sworn oaths to obey the Emperor and apparently their bodies are just gonna....do that. But not Shera. Why not, though? Why can she resist him, and why was she able to resist the Emperor's comman...

Thank you very much to Heather for commissioning this episode! I'm excited that we're getting further into this plotline, and I am really interested in what poor Jordan being a target of particular interest is going to look like. They don't want to kill her, they want to recruit her, which is so much worse. But first, there's the fight on the Dunleavy which is very cinematic and really gave me a b...

Thank you very much to George for commissioning this episode! In these chapters we get a return to the Grey Island, and Yala proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that she's not to be fucking trusted. And she's not even like, trying to be subtle, she's just straight-up suspect and expects Shera to go along with it? Bitch, do you know who Shera IS? I guess she either doesn't know, or she's got some oth...

Thank you very much to Kyle for commissioning this episode! Due to a scheduling problem, I wound up having to record this one on a Saturday, but it was worth it! I am super curious what's happening because I thought that I was sort of getting it, but I'm beginning to think I had it all wrong. And of course we get another murder because people aren't smart enough to just vacate like they CLEARLY sh...

Thank you very much to George for commissioning this episode! So the first thing that we find out in this set of chapters if that Lucan cheated on their training exercise, and that his impressive use of the sheets didn't happen; he was just taking advantage of poor Ayana's ignorance. I mean, I guess that works? But the main event of this set of chapters is the hideous, sickening, DISGUSTING island...

Thank you so much to Ashleigh for commissioning this whole series! Apparently the series will be returning at some point in September (less than a month from now!) so I'm hoping I get to pick it back up again because this show has really been a delight. It hasn't been perfect but I really appreciate the way they coped with so many things this season, and especially how they addressed Otis and his...

Thank you so much to George for commissioning this episode! We're slowly learning a little more about the lore of this universe, and we get to see just how specialized and secret the Gardener faction of the Consultants is. Lucan, as it turns out, is a rare badass with his reading abilities, while Shera is in a different league from everyone else by virtue of her attitude if not her lack of empathy...

Thank you so much to George for commissioning this episode! These chapters we get to see more of how the Gardners get trained and how the Consultants are set up. Apparently Gardeners are pretty rare, judging by the reception that Shera gets when it's assumed she's going to be a Mason. I really enjoy the names for all these positions, and I'm super curious to learn more about the lore of this place...

Thank you so much to George for commissioning the first two books in the series! In these first chapters we meet Shera, who is a sleepy sociopath with a penchant for murder. Our introduction to her is really high-impact as we get to see not only her cold, ruthless side but also her protectiveness of people who grow to mean something to her. We also get our first look at the Elder Empire and at thi...

Thank you to Candace for commissioning this entire series! I'm not going to say much more here than 1) I liked this finale, and 2) I don't get wtf everyone's problem with it was. Thanks for listening, and I wish I had more time to talk about this awesome series. Candace, I can understand why you've rewatched it so much. I still think you're a lunatic, but I get it. The rest is confetti.

Thank you so much to Candace for commissioning this episode! This penultimate episode is the one in which we finally see what happened to Olivia that fateful night all those years ago, and we also get to meet Poppy. It's unclear whether Poppy is really herself, or if this is the house using Poppy as a puppet, but either way she's very effective. This episode was less scary than sad, because we kno...

Thank you so much to Ashleigh for commissioning this episode! This episode was really fun because there's so much unity going on with the girls who are forced to endure detention together, and it's REALLY good to have the air cleared between Ola and Maeve, as well as between Ola and Lily. Also, my heart was warmed by the sisterhood moment at the end when they all turn up to escort Aimee to school...

Thank you so much to Candace for commissioning this episode! Well this is the fucking episode where shit GEARS THE FUCK UP, huh? I am absolutely here for all of it, as long as y'all keep a defibrillator on hand to restore my fucking heart after the jump scare in the car. Jesus fucking Christ. Thanks for listening!

Thank you very much to Candace for commissioning this episode! So this episode was a really amazing one that was a nice sort of come-down from Two Storms without losing any of the weight. Unfortunately, the way it ends bodes nothing good, and I'm really worried about what Luke is going to do. Thanks so much to you all for listening, and we will see you soon with a new episode!

Thank you again to Candace for commissioning this episode! This is the one where the family is back together again (more than some of them seemed to realize) and it's incredibly painful and frustrating and upsetting. I really loved the camerawork and the way this episode built tension without ever actually releasing it, and I'm DYING to know who the fuck Hugh was talking to the whole time. Thanks...

Thank you very much to Ashleigh for commissioning this episode! I really enjoyed this one, if only for the fact that Adam's mother seems to finally realize everything she's been missing being married to a control freak asshole bully with no joy. However, Otis putting Maeve (and Ola) on blast in front of everyone was gross AF and I hope that he feels like a fucking chump in the morning. Thanks a to...

Thank you very much to Candace for commissioning this episode! This was a helluvan episode. I don't know exactly what it means, but I hate it. And I feel really bad for Nell because goddamn. Thanks so much for listening, and I hope you're enjoying it!

Thank you again to Candace for commissioning this episode! I'm going to be honest; this episode was such a bummer. AND YET. It was so good, and touching, and heartbreaking. I can't get over how much more I dislike Steve every time I see how he handled ANY interaction with his siblings. I'm impressed with Luke's acting, and the way that he gets played is so sad but also something that he may have n...

Thank you to Candace for commissioning this episode! This one focuses on Theo and what she experienced as a child, what she does for a living, and how all those things tie together in an effort to perhaps save some other kid the pain she herself went through. Turns out that she has a weird sort of touch power called psychometry, and she can see the history of objects AND PEOPLE when she touches th...

Thank you again to Candace for commissioning this episode! This episode was so hard to watch. Oh my god but I really am a wimp. This is the one where we get to know Shirley a little better, from her experiences at Hill House, to her personal relationship with her mother, to what caused her to get into working as a mortician. HINT: IT'S ALL TRAUMA, BABY. Thanks so much for listening, and I will see...
