Jesus modeled a deliberate pattern of withdrawing to seek the Lord through regular quiet times. He also showed that he purposely makes us go out of our way to earnestly pursue him.

Summary: The Advent season is a time for extended wonder. Wonder at God's peace-making mercy. Wonder at God becoming human. Wonder at the gift of eternal life. Then we turn all that wonder into worship of King Jesus.

Summary: Just as the faithful at the time of Christ's birth longed for the Consolation of Israel, we also yearn for Jesus' coming. For when He arrives, He will complete our salvation, banish sorrow forever, order all things in perfect wisdom, and unite all peoples in everlasting peace.

Every Christian is a soldier in Christ's Kingdom, marked by gentleness, focused on refuting the lies of Satan with Christ's truth, authority, and power. The result of this battle is conversion of the lost, strengthening of fellow Christians, and the silencing of satan's influence in the church.

God loves a cheerful giver and blesses them with every kind of abundance so they always have what they need to keep blessing others. Even more, He enriches the giver with spiritual growth and fills the recipient with gratitude and worship, knitting their hearts together in the grace of God.

Summary: Those who love Jesus will demonstrate self-sacrificing generosity; not just in feeling, but in follow-through. This generosity will lead to mutual abundance, ensuring that there is no lack or hoarding among God's people.

Our sin brings sadness to everyone in our church family, but God brings his comfort and joy to his people through correction, sorrow over sin, grace for a changed heart, submission, and reconciliation.

Jesus took the judgment we deserved and earned the reward we never could. As a result we are no longer critical of one another or fear God's condemnation. Instead we live for God's pleasure and urge others to be reconciled to God through Jesus.

We can be free from the fear of death and live faithfully during seasons of persecution by yearning for what God has for us next. This body has always been temporary, and God has secured for us a better one. This body can't be where Jesus is, but when we die we are immediately in his sweet presence.

By shifting our focus from outward and temporary thriving to inward and eternal thriving, we can experience encouragement and fortitude for daily hardships.

The nature of Christian discipleship is humble hardship for the good of others in the emulation of Christ so that his surprising victory may be on display in us and lead to the widespread worship of God.

The New Covenant is superior because it produces new hearts, not just restricted behavior. Ministers of the New Covenant are validated by the gospel transformation in people's lives that God accomplishes through their ministry.

Serving God will often be discouraging, especially if we measure our success in ministry according to this world's standards. However, ministry is always victorious if done through and for God.

  The Christian life may be characterized by the mutual pursuit of joy. Pure joy is founded in God's love for us, which when experienced, causes us to lovingly work for the joy of others. The path to joy will require some sorrow as we are grieved by sin and confront one another. However, when sorrow has borne the fruit of repentance and Christian fellowship is restored, then our collective joy is...

People will doubt your actions and question your motives—but gospel-shaped confidence flows not from performance or perception, but from integrity of conscience, the testimony of the Spirit, and the unchanging promises of God fulfilled in Christ. Because God is faithful, we can live simply, speak honestly, and serve others joyfully—for by faith we stand.

Life is filled with suffering, but for the believer, it has a purpose. They will learn to trust God rather than themselves, experience firsthand the power and comforting compassion of God, and have a rich opportunity to minister to others.

Ministry is a mutual mission of love in Christ Jesus. Every aspect of our planning, living, and interacting should be motivated and shaped by love as it is defined and described in God's Word.

Paul's instructions about the collection for the Jerusalem church provide a timeless pattern for Christian giving. Our weekly offerings should be purposeful , voluntary , and proportional to how God has blessed us. They should be handled with integrity and accountability , and above all, reflect a personal devotion —giving not just our money, but ourselves to the Lord and his people.

The new creation will be a glorious union of heaven and earth, and our current bodies will be resurrected in a new, incorruptible form suited to our new home. This new world and our place in it are a free gift flowing from Christ's victory over sin and death, so let us participate in it now through consistent and abundant work for the kingdom.

As Christians, we may find ourselves or others in times of depression or a spiritual drought. When we are spiritually thirsty, we should: Remember His work in the past (verses 4 and 6) Pray to Him in the present (verse 8) Have Hope in Him for the future (verses 5 and 11). Jesus is the unlimited source of living water for all who believe in Him.

Solid food for our souls, to strengthen our faith.
