When we look around us as we can see unrest in the world, a failing global economy, and closer to home, families falling apart it is easy to get tempted to think that God has forgotten us, that He doesnt care, but as we come to Isaiah 45, we see that God is working sovereignly even when it seems like He is not.

There are two paths laid out for all of us, there is no neutral ground. We are either on a path of the world which leads to being eternally lost or on a path to God paved by the Lord Jesus Christ which leads to true life.

Everyone is building their lives on something. The question is: can it hold the weight of eternity? 1 Peter 2:410 is a clear reminder that, as Christians, we are called to build our lives on Christ, our Cornerstone. He is the author and perfecter of our faith, and in Him.

Anything in this life, apart from Jesus Christ, which we look to as our functional saviour is an idol which God wants to expose today. And even if you claim to be an atheist. You need to see that that is your religion, and your religion has its own idols which you worship, and look to for worth and salvation. None of our idols can deliver, none can save us.

What many of us would probably be hesitant to admit, simply because we underestimate the true nature of the task, is that to love as God has called us to love is without the gospel an impossible task.

Who of us is not in need of comfort today? Who in this world does not crave to know comfor, especially at times when the world is in such chaos and turmoil, when wars and violence and terrorism is on the increase, when marriages are under attack and falling apart, when families are breaking up as children rebel against parents, when corruption seems to be the new normal in politics and policing, w...
