All my own AI assisted tracks, are free to download. I do not monetise any of these tracks; I do however claim copyright in all but a few of the lyrics and the music in many of the lyricsI have been writing songs "on and off" since1959 until the present. As a songwriter, I write purely for the pleasure it gives me. I have always been pleased with my songs which have been mainly from genres such as folk/blues, rock and roll and general pop (in the style of the sixties). My musical skills are quite limited and the early demos on Soundcloud, prior to two years ago, are of me singing and accompany...

Statuette 21.02.2025

A Country song to complete another playlist/album. The second iteration, Sometimes Suno works so well on minimalist prompting, Yep, I know that some folks want some originality, but I find I am satisfied with a good solid backing for my song, the AI is so random anyway. It also helps so much when the lyric is structured, making it easier for the AI. Hope you like it, and thanks for dropping by.

Where there's no blame 21.02.2025

This song brings ot one of the issues with AI for me. I am alwways saying that the lyric structure "makes or breaks " a song. In this case the verse lyrics are of six lines and the rhyme scheme is AABCCD, an intelligent singer would sing the stanza as 2 X 3 lines, but early iterations, by the AI, were 4 + 2 lines. Detroying the rhyme scheme. The AI eventually got it right, but along the way I lost...

That's Another Story 20.02.2025

A feature of Suno v4 which I am coming to realise, is that v4 no longer models an uploaded audio voice clip accurately neither in cloning the voice or the original melodies. This is very disappointing. Probably something to do with copyright ,etc, in view of the current court cases. I had been hoping to used a cloned model of my own voice, but I think I am giving up on this idea. I am also having...

You've Got To Be Tough 19.02.2025

Need I say not my usual genre/style. I very nearly gave thes lyrics a miss (I have actually done this with several from this period) but I thought to myself, "I haven't used this genre at all yet, what can it do for me?" So here it is, yes very repetetive but I was hoping the solos might take up the slack here. Went thru' a few iterations before find one that was beginning to work for me. Then did...

In A Little Corner Of My Heart 18.02.2025

A slightly slushy country number written 8th Feb 1981 - a good year for me. I am so surpised how I am loving how my old songs are revitalised by a dusting over in 2025 (in this case).

You Think You Know Better 18.02.2025

Time for an up-tempo, anthemic pop-rock track (or at least Suno's interpretation of that). I wrote this song 24/2/1981. Looking for original themes at the time. Hope you like it. What was that? The artwork? I just liked it whist skimming thru Pixabay.

Don't Hide Yourself Away 17.02.2025

After the barber shop exercise, I have used the prompt of a close harmony group again. Took awhile to find a backing / genre which carried the song but I think I have achieved it. The song's cover image took me longer to sort out. Early attempts were far too literal, hiding behind curtains, etc. Here the couple are close BUT the girl is still finding issues after the break up with a previous partn...

Here Comes The Sun Again 17.02.2025

A little more in line with my own style of music (except I am very limited to one instrument on which I know few chords :-) ) All these lyrics have no connection with reality, they are all from the ether, prompted by many different things. None of the them actually have any real life connections. Hope you like this one it has become my new favourite

I'M Trying Hard To Understand 16.02.2025

A interesting track, I wrote the song for myself to sing; so it was a male singing to a female friend. Suno came back with a version witha female singer, and I was frustrated and ready to tash the track. But i listened and loved the vocal, and I decided would be OK, even better, for something a female would talk about with a female friend. So here it is after a couple more iterations. Hope you lik...

Alibis 16.02.2025

I was so pleased with a recent song in a similar style, I just had to try another. Barber Shop Quartet, 1950's style. The song was written 21/1/2025 and one of many that were forgotten at this stage of my writing songs. Lots of lyrical ideas but the songs never seemed to work with a simple strummed guitar; so they were never really sung very often. Plus the fact that I was writing so many lyrics,...

She Said 13.02.2025

With the the end of the 1980 songs, Here is something completely different (well just letting my hair down really) from January 1981. I always played this song with just an acoustic guitar backing. (Certainly up-tempo, and certainly with a particular group in mind - not an acoustic band?) but certainly with a syncopated feel. Using Suno, I at firts tried to obtain a heavy bass, vamping in a partic...

Dr John 13.02.2025

I have no idea where this song came from, except I had not long picked up my PhD award from my university. Not a serious song, but no other explanation for the theme. This was 1980 and was quickly forgotten. Finding it again, it provided, I thought, a wonderful chance to try out a barber shop, close harmony group. I honestly liked the result (first iteration again!) and so , probably unwisely, dec...

Easy Come, Easy Go 12.02.2025

A 5 minute wonder#. I used the expression in a FB comment, and then commented, "There's a prompt for a song". So a short time later, after writing a lyric, I jumped into Suno and with a minimal prompt: a title, a lyric, a genre, a style and an instrument, I had a song. This was the first iteration and I picked one of the versions, purely because it used my suggested instrument, a piano, rather tha...

Life Is Hard 11.02.2025

Again, a song from 1980, Did not realise how many songs I wrote this year. But I have found something out about Suno. I have been cloning my voice in a number of songs, and each time I was uploading a new audio clip. Suno would not allow creating a "persona" from a song created with an audio clip. (Not surprising really, if you think about potential legal issues) But it is possible to use a previo...

I'd Do The Same Again 11.02.2025

A difficult one to get what I wanted from Suno. The AI kept trying to repeat verses on me and it simply did not work with this lyric, verses very similar so repeating when not necessary was a total NO-NO. After many tries with many different genres, I settled for this version. Suno can be very frustrating at times.

Fantasies 10.02.2025

A light-hearted song, Believe it or not, at this time in my song writing, I was often inspired by popular song titles, to write some of my better lyrics. This one was inspired by "In My Room" by Brian Wilson (of The Beach Boys). Just the title, the lyrics are obviously something different). You might also notice one or two allusions to the real world in the song, John Wayne, Superman, Valentino. O...

The Green Knight 10.02.2025

The Green Knight by John Dyhouse

Electric City 08.02.2025

Still refeshing my my critical listening facilities. It is getting harder to select one version from the easily generated alternatives that can be supplied by Suno. This song was another from 1980 (a good year for me I think) but I let Suno loose on this one without prompting for the original melodies. I did try to get Suno to give me a Girl group (vocals!) but a solo performer was all I was offer...

Arthur-the beginning 07.02.2025

Another edition to my playlist of new songs written (lyrics) 2025 feb. This i think will be the opening track of an album base on Arthurian legends.

Blue waters, Sweet Sunshine 07.02.2025

At my age I have almost forgotten those great holidays, when nothing mattered except your partner. I wrote this song in 1980, before I had completely forgotten. Just a little fun to take a break from more serious songs for a while. Got 2-3 real rockers coming up. One especially would have really suited "QUO" at their prime, but thats for another day. Fun, and I hope you like it.

The Words That You Say 05.02.2025

This song wa written in 19080, but I never really sang the song very much. Although I seem to have writtenplenty of songs, I seem to have been writing songs which did not eally connform to my style. This was at a time when singer-songwriter would have described me, plus a smattering of folk and rock songs. But like this one, I was writing songs outside of these norms. At leasr that is the only way...

Anywhere You Are 04.02.2025

I chose a persona (suno) with which I had had some success getting Suno to give me a duet. My lyrics are not really suited to duets on the whole, so no real stats have accumulated, but it only seems to work about 30% of the time. Great when it works but can't keep regenerating and hoping, The more regenerations I perform, The less likely is the AI to vary what it has already given, I may come back...

No Soft Touch 03.02.2025

Another 1980 (wow, so many songs from this year) song Which I was never to record after I wrote it. I have spent a little time for this recording trying to improve the lyric, I think I have succeeded to some extent - Ihope you like it. The story is obvious??? Someone is trying to move in on this cowboys best girl. When did the guy become a cowboy? When I decided to make this a country song just no...

No Daggers Drawn 02.02.2025

A strange song. (1980 vintage) never quite got around to writing a tune for it and after writing the lyric, I was always scepitcal of it. But I put the lyric through the Suno mangle and was quite pleased with the result. I also have a version with (an ethereal) female vocalist, I like it, but this, slighthly more powerful version came through as the winner. Maybe in the near future I may consider...

Arthur & Guinevere-2 01.02.2025

This project has grabbed me by the proverbials. Another from the Arthur myths! This time Arthur and Guinevere. Using a different style, this one prompted the AI with ambient, personally I think this is anything but. 4 down 6 to go, hope the enthusiasm lasts..... Arthur And Guinevere - lyrics [introduction] Beloved by those he ruled, In Camelot, young Arthur reigned, He chose his wife, his future q...
