As Fall lets go of what it kept so close to its soul during Spring and Summer, what does it remind the human it should do? A place of peace. Rather than bird watching, in the Fall, the final dance of a leaf puts the human imagination in a place of being present with peace and not pieces.

Is God really the peacemaker? Look at the state of the world! Who is truly making peace? When did the word peace evolve into a thought of creating pieces first? That's when we tend to step in and try to negotiate. Do pieces have to take place before peace sets in? I've always called leaves falling in fall the final dance. It's so difficult to capture a single leaf in full flight before it rests forever on a forest floor. This season, a spider's thin web catches a leaf in frozen spirit. Maybe it's just me... I don't like focusing my energy on locating the answer to the question, "How are you doing?" It's a 50/50 shot that I or anyone else is going to share the truth.

Who decides for us to set free a moment that has challenged our empathy, sympathy and compassion? Rather than being so quick to jump into a faltering connection we tend to believe it's over. Decisions and seasons demand relationships. The daily goal should be set on understanding them better so that peace has a place to stand up and be heard.

Has God ever had to react to one who is heckling? One who interrupts with loud, unfriendly insults and jeers. The way around a heckler is to have them repeat the insult. Stay calm and pause. Ask a probing question then knock them in the heart with humor. Learning how to tame the shame.
