Trinity Ky Sermons

At Trinity GMC in Princeton, Ky we believe that church is so much more than listening to a sermon, it's about being a family and joining together in our walk with the Lord.  That being said, if you missed a Sunday or would like to listen in, we invite you to join us as we seek to take next steps in our relationship with Jesus Christ. If you have found us online, you can join us on Sunday mornings in person at the Goodmans Funeral home Chapel in Princeton at 10:30 am.

9.15.24 Be with Jesus 15.09.2024

We continue our series on deeper discipleship or apprenticeship to Jesus this week as we look at the first goal, being with Jesus.  It is pretty amazing that God wants to be with us, so what does that mean for us today?  What are practices that help us turn our mind to God over and over again in our everyday lives?

9.8.24 Apprenticeship to Jesus 08.09.2024

We begin our Fall series entitled, 'A Vision for Discipleship'.  There is clearly a gap between folks who identify as a Christian and those who choose to live as a disciple of Jesus, despite the Jesus' and the New Testaments' clear call to be a disciple.  So... What does it mean to be a disciple of Jesus?  We propose the definition of: A disciple is one who organizes their enti...

8.25.24 Loving Our Neighbor this Election Cycle 25.08.2024

The Parable of the Good Samaritan has many implications for us, especially as we approach the Presidential election.  Join us as we seek to keep Jesus as our Lord and authority in our lives.

8.18.24 Women in Ministry 18.08.2024

Supporting women in ministry is a key difference between Methodist and some other strong denominations in our area, so today Pastor John looks at how we interpret the bible with an eye specifically towards a biblical case for supporting women in ministry.  Take a look or share with a friend!

8.11.24 Why We Practice Infant Baptism 11.08.2024

Today we explore why Methodist practice infant baptism.  Historically this has been the practice for the overwhelming majority of churches, but it is not necessarily common in our area.  This is an extremely secondary issue, and in no way are we trying to say you have to do it a specific way.  We love and welcome folks who were baptized as infants and those who were not.

7.28.24 Banded Discipleship 28.07.2024

So how did the Methodist spread scriptural holiness throughout the land? How did they encourage and spur one another on toward love and good deeds? The answer is the class meetings and bands.  Join us to learn more about the Method which they became known for.

7.21.24 Intentionality and Spiritual Practices 21.07.2024

Join us as we discuss practicing our faith with intentionality.  Jesus says those who put his teachings into practice are those who build their house on the rock; not simply agreeing with his message.  Are we intentional in the way we build our lives around Jesus and his purposes for our lives?

7.14.24 Holiness and Spiritual Formation 15.07.2024

The early methodists were known for their preaching on holiness.  We agree with them that holiness is not an optional add-on to the Christian life, but a necessary part of life with God following justification.  Join us as we discuss problems with holiness and how we think through holiness.

7.7.24 Available Grace and Human Dignity 07.07.2024

The early Methodists were convinced that God's grace is available to all, and that God truly wants all to be saved and offers this grace to all!  They taught that God respected human dignity and allows people to turn away from Him as they desired to.  This was in conflict with those in their day who held strongly to the view of predestination, meaning God arbitrarily choose humans to receive...

6.30.24 Intro to Marks of Methodism Series 30.06.2024

Pastor John shares a short intro to our new series entitled, Marks of Methodism for Today.  The Methodist Movement swept across England and America in the 1700s spreading scriptural holiness throughout the land.  Here at Trinity, we want to be a part of the renewal of Methodism and Christian revival in our town and around the world.  Would you join us?

6.30.24 The Centrality of Love 30.06.2024

The Methodists reminded the church of the centrality of love and marked the defining characteristic of its members as Holy Love filling and encapsulating the soul.  Pastor John teaches on our Christian understanding of Love and on the importance of receiving the transforming love of God in our lives.

6.23.24 Angry Enough to Die 24.06.2024

Join us as we wrap up the story of Jonah, with Jonah suggesting that he is angry enough to die!  God loves even the Ninevites, your worst enemy.  Are we willing to allow God's love to transform us, or will we go on pouting like Jonah?

6.16.24 God's Great Mercy and Our Repentance 16.06.2024

Today we discuss Jonah 3, the Ninevites repentance and the mercy of our God who is quick to forgive and slow to anger.

6.9.24 In the belly of the Fish 09.06.2024

Today we find Jonah praying in the belly of the fish.  He teaches us that in some of our lowest moments we can know deep intimacy with God and allow God to shape us more into Christ-like love.

6.2.24 Running from God 02.06.2024

We begin our sermon series through the book of Jonah taking a look at what Jonah can teach us as well as how we, like Jonah, run from this God who is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.

5.12.24 Community 12.05.2024

We are largely impacted by the culture of individualism around us, but life in Christ offers us a different option, living in community.  Who are you in community with?  In order to grow in our walk with God, we must have others to support that walk.  Who are you growing with?

5.5.24 Faith: The Key 06.05.2024

Life in Christ requires faith that is not a blind leap nor merely mental assent, but a sure trust of Christ for Salvation.  This includes a trusting of Jesus' view of the world, such that we would obey his commands.

4.28.24 Spiritual Growth 04.05.2024

Life in Christ includes and necessitates that we experience spiritual growth.  Jesus challenges us to move toward maturity rather than remain undeveloped.

4.21.24 The Easy Yoke 02.05.2024

Jesus invites us to take on his easy yoke and reminds us that he is gentle and humble in heart.  (We didn't get it right at the beginning this week, we apologize).

4.14.24 Abide 29.04.2024

Jesus invites us into an abiding relationship with him.

Easter 2024: Hope that's Personal 29.04.2024

As we begin our Life in Christ, Jesus offers us a new Identity.  We are valued and called worthy children of God.
