The Say Report

Devon is excited to go around the horn this week to discuss some sports, but Sejohn has other plans when he rightfully declares this the perfect time to discuss politics. We also give a brief synopsis of the last day Rhode Island Comic Con and examine some of the flaws in the whole Convention system.

In this Halloween themed episode we explore the horror comedies from our childhood, the timeline of Scooby Doo, the merits (or lack thereof) of Scrappy Doo, and the World Series champion Red Sox. Then for a bit of a change we examine strong females in cinema when we discuss Tea with Dames and Mystic Pizza before rounding out the episode with some exploration of modern video game DLC practices.

Just in time for Halloween this month’s very special episode is all about Marvel’s forgotten vampiric hero of the silver screen… BLADE. Join us as we discuss why these films work, why they don’t, and whether or not we could fold these webos into the current MCU as it exists today.

It’s time for another Time Capsule episode and again we journey back to the far off year of 2001 with the film Shallow Hal. Join us as Devon finally sees the film for what it actually is and Sejohn uses a word to describe the work of The Farrelly brothers that had probably never been used before.

Devon learns a lesson in acceptance when he opens up the floor to Sejohn so he can discuss his habit of taking baths. As a counterpoint Sejohn learns a lesson in humanity since he has now become an adult and is finding it harder and harder to find time to do the things he loves with his new nerdy family.

This week we introduce “Say Vocabulary” where we come up with our own new words to describe the types of things we are dealing with in the modern age. Sejohn talks about his attempts at making a new Halloween Tradition, Devon recounts his celebration of Mega Man Day, and we confess that for Spider-Man on the PS4 it does not get better.

Devon completed Marvel’s Spider-Man on the PS4 for a second time and that awoke all sorts of thoughts and feelings within him about Arkham City… which just so happens to be one of Sejohn’s favorite games ever. What will happen when a man who has nothing but admiration for something is forced to discuss it with someone who has nothing but disdain? Listen to find out.

While Sejohn was busy moving Devon spent the last two weeks practicing and learning fifteen retro video games to prepare for the “Ultimate Gamer Challenge” at Retro World Expo. This episode Devon shares his experiences at the event prompting Sejohn to examine the merits of being passionate in the activities we choose to fill our time with.
