As the title suggests, this story is from real events. As the author explains in the last chapter, all of the events are true; the conversations and other minor elements have been fleshed out by the author. Jeannie Barrett comes to faith as a girl. That faith is to be tested for more than 20 years, as her health takes a sudden downturn. Added to that, her father, the breadwinner of the family, has a financial setback.
