Sacred Hearts for the Age of Sedation: The Miracles of Sister Ignatia Gavin
Hear the story of Sr. Ignatia Gavin, one of the first medical professionals to treat addiction as a disease. She gave out Sacred Heart Medallions to her patients at St. Thomas Hospital in Akron, Ohio, during the 1930s and 40s. Her colleague Dr. Bob Smith went on to help found Alcoholic Anonymous with Bill Wilson. The podcast mixes the Promises of the Sacred Heart of Jesus with the 12 Steps of Recovery, with the hopes to help people heal.
