Ermis Z.
Yet another Expat
A short comedy podcast by a tired Greek millennial in Berlin. Shower thoughts, weird internet garbage, science, tech, AI, geopolitics, microplastics, and other 2 a doom scrolling thoughts stuck in my brain. Also jokes, observations, everyday chaos, and the occasional moments of clarity. So basically it's thoughts, stories and news, combined with an "existential dread / old man yells at cloud" energy and a quiet hope for some alien intervention to save us all. Or I'll go and grow tomatoes back in my village. Anyhow, I’m just talking so you’re not alone with your thoughts. So, press play ;)

E98 - Europe Is Boiling, EasyJet's Second-Class Passengers & Oversea Rants ft. DOGE's Worm Comeback 28.06.2026 47:34
It's the hottest day I've ever lived through in Berlin, the asphalt is melting, my phone is peeling, and yes, I'm recording this with no clothes on. Why does EasyJet make you choose your level of suffering to board a plane? How do you cut a $15M worm program and end up paying a billion? And how exactly do you paint a national monument's pool, drive your car through it, and turn the...
E97 - Vacation Is Dead, AI Is Scared & Facts Are Optional Now 08.06.2026 31:01
Who does an ultramarathon in the desert and calls it a vacation? Who's building a new free public swimming pool at the center of Berlin? What's the latest in Trump's agenda vs anything that ever made sense in the world, and why Anthropic is calling for a pause in AI development? These and more. Come we can laugh and cry together. Follow me on my socials if you can find them. Leave a co...
E96 - Rants, Lakes, AI and Pollen Attacks 01.06.2026 32:17
I propose modern public holidays, starting with a yearly “check your backups” day (USB sticks, external drives, photo chaos) and I campaign for using exclamation marks again. Then I rant about workplaces adopting Claude so heavily that company chat starts reading like AI-on-AI communication: people use AI to generate overly long polite messages and recipients use AI to compress them back into one...
E95 - Parenting Adventures & Game Development with Claude 18.05.2026 32:26
Links at the bottom. Greece won. Three years in a row. The title of the most complex country in the world to do business in. I open by complaining about it, then quietly admit I still keep an accountant there even though I left, because the complexity is also why I cannot leave. (Before you read further... You know who writes these descriptions... right? Right. Ermis out) Then a small thing about...
E94 - Alligators, UFOs, and Rebrain Greece 11.05.2026 27:13
Zoo Animals as Influencers, a Shoe-Hoarding Alligator, and Greece’s “Rebrain” PR Yo I'm too tired so got an LLM to summarise this episode below, sorry. No need to read ittttt Ermis records episode 94 from Berlin, reflecting on modern zoos and their conservation narrative, comparing captive animals to “trapped influencers” funding protection of wildlife, and noting the northern white rhino is f...
E93 - 1st of May in Berlin & the Rise of the Pasta Toddler (And some AI News) 04.05.2026 23:00
Click me! What a chaos. Freshly converted by the city’s May 1st mass awakening, moving through the people-rivers. Listen as we try to hold a family-friendly corner in a park while DIY DJs multiply, and I attempt to sleep a baby in a stroller like a Game Boy game, and a million things to avoid. He’s good. Charming strangers, cautiously worshipping dogs, and steadily evolving in unpredictable direct...
E92 - Google is hiding bad reviews in Germany so I built an extension 27.04.2026 18:53
Fair Google Ratings, Remote Cashiers, Polymarket Scams, and Ryanair Leaves Berlin This episode covers a new Google Maps change in Germany that shows how many reviews were removed under defamation-law claims, and my free, open-source Claude love built Chrome extension called “Fair Rating for German Reviews" Extension here The episode then looks at ethical gray zones in tech capitalism: New Yor...
E91 -Dried Mangos, Reels, Trump vs the Pope, Artemis and Reiner's Ballet 20.04.2026 28:34
I praise dried mangos, while the orange man is fighting the pope, and AI fakes are ruling the world. Some nostalgia for old times, a story about my date with an old man to see ballet, and a few thoughts on the Artemis mission splashdown Thanks for tuning in Timestamps 00:00 Mango Delusion 00:55 Apps Became Casinos 02:33 Episode 92 04:00 Trump vs Pope 07:40 AI Is Fooling Everyone 10:24 China’s “Sho...
E90 - Greek Scandals, Good Espresso & The New Messiah 13.04.2026 21:58
I got one extra hour of sun and one surprisingly decent espresso, which is weird because I usually drink instant dirt and pretend it’s a personality. I spiral a bit about Nestlé, then I put on Placebo and immediately time-travel back to being an embarrassing teenager. So yeah: music, memory, and how to hack your brain without buying another app. Then I peek at the news: Greece doing Greece things—...
E89 - Mostly Animals 06.04.2026 32:02
Us or them? An AI dog cancer vaccine and birds using quantum physics. Here's whats up: Growing the podcast - ads, stickers, mild criminal energy. Expat dad life in Berlin. Trump's committee guts the Endangered Species Act so Gulf dril...
E88 - Spiritual Bird Watching ft. Hipster Cafe Battles 23.03.2026 30:07
Hello world, hello spring. It's been a while. Recording on a Sunday with a kid playing horrible flute through the wall. Divine. Back pain, tooth pain, and a norovirus. Living the dream. Sewages exploding at home and abroad. Also a lovely 14-month-old who points at things until they happen. But life is good and I'm trying to keep this episode light. Succeeding partially - Maybe spiritual bi...
E87 - Sleeping like baby 08.03.2026 21:48
Sunny days and deceiving titles. This one's worse than usual! Thanks to whoever did that 21st rating, you're the real MVP.
E86 - Sun, War, Babies & Robots 01.03.2026 39:27
The sun is out in Berlin. Leonidas eats sand at the playground. Sterilizer is gone, it's his immune system against the world now. He also fell off the bed. He's fine. Probably. Claude AI refuses the Pentagon autonomous kill systems and gets threatened for it. A Spanish guy accidentally controls 7,000 robot vacuums with a PS controller. Iran, AI war simulations going nuclear, and wasps in G...

E84 - Nothing Works 08.02.2026 34:45
Poop, algorithms, and the UN falling apart. Also: babies learning gravity, why you need a dog, Berlin's infrastructure having a moment, TikTok getting censored under new management, Jeff Bezos quietly dismantling the Washington Post, and measles making a comeback because apparently we're done with vaccines. Like always, jumping between my kid throwing food and the world doing the same thin...
E83 - Parental Leave, AI Interview Cheating, Laundering Money with Pokemon, Smart Legos Bricks & Desperate Elon 02.02.2026 35:38
Pokémon cards are apparently the new way to move money across borders. Meanwhile, Berlin has turned into an ice rink, Trump posts AI penguins in the wrong hemisphere, and lab mice are being told to touch grass for science. Parenting continues to be a content (and contént) giving journey: from the food Olympics to the floor is lava. On top of that, I interviewed an AI cheater, Lego launches interne...

E81 — Betting on the End of the World 12.01.2026 44:23
Another week of trying to keep up. Venezuela, Greenland, people betting on wars, chip wars, Greece losing its airspace for a day, Berlin freezing, power grids getting attacked, and me wondering (again) if growing tomatoes should be my plan Z
E80 - Times New Roman 05.01.2026 23:42

Like, follow, co...

E78 - Moving is Hard 07.12.2025 24:12
Moving apartments with a sick baby, zero planning, and 40 mystery boxes - my personal favourite. Spotify Wrapped lies, burnout, fake seasons, radiators with commitment issues, Greek scandals, European fines, tech-bro tantrums, Trump winning imaginary awards, and why the world feels like someone accidentally hit hard reset. But it ends on something lighter. A documentary festival, a tiny bit of hop...
