World Explores: A World Building Podcast

Yeah this one makes no sense, I wish I could at least tell you the Eclairs tasted good but that to would be a lie.

Welcome back to World Building Basics where today we define what a magic system is and discuss some of the different types while sharing tips on how to create your own.

In this Underworld the goal is to make money. How? By being the best demon you can be. But be careful, a deal with the devil is never what you think.

In this world villains travel wherever they please while heroes remain trapped with in their own districts. Each district being unique to a hero vs villains troop.

Isaac and Cassie create a world were all the characters know their life is a story and are forced to play roles they don't want to by the audience always watching them.

Isaac and Cassie take another break from creating worlds to talk about some writing tips. This time in relation to creating that starter sentence. They start out by talking about the different things your first sentence can impact and then end by talking about some famous first sentences from popular books.

No one truly knows what the afterlife will look like so in this episode Isaac and Cassie take their hand at creating one of their own. They pull inspiration from some of the classic stories of our time (many of them Christmas related) and together design a void where being selfless is the only way to save your soul.

Isaac and Cassie take their hand out of carving a world in which ice is everything. The result? Many biomes where ice takes on strange properties and possibly the cutest creature they've came up with yet.

What would the world look like if any ordinary container could suddenly store whatever your heart desired? If mountains and volcanoes could be pocketed and stored in your bag. Well today we discuss?

Isaac and Cassie take on a new series as they dive into some of the techniques for building wars. For this first episode they talk about some of the basics such as where to start and different methods you can use to develop your own world.

Cassie picks up her Grim Fairy Tales and gets Isaac to pick random pages. Whatever title the page lands on the two have to incorporate into this world. And just like that we get the Mother Willow and snake heaven. Oh and donkeys show up to.

Isaac and Cassie take on building a nomadic society that uses dragons as its means of transportation. Listen as stories develop within a society in which people can leave and join as they please while the dragons travel the world.

Welcome to a world where zombies eat humans not just to survive but also to gain more intelligence. What does a world look like when the zombies are able to outsmart the humans? Also, how did the zombies even come to be and how did they grow to gain such power over the world?

In this universe the world is a string of bridge constantly detaching and moving throughout space. People must live with the fear of separation as cultures form and disperse at the will of this living rock.

Today we take on a folk tale like world as a man sets out on a mission to create for himself a jungle. To do so he sends people on quests to find creatures and plants which he combines to create the jungle we know today.

We start with a world with very little land. And then we debate who should live on that land till settling on fish people with frog overloads. It's not as weird as it sounds (its weirder).

We decided to try something different. Instead of creating the world and putting animals and plants inside we create the animals and plants and make a world around them. And for once we stay on the peaceful side making yummy foods, cute animals, and overall a very calm world with unique things to look out. It is also a world with some weird fashion choices. 

This world is full of mountains rich with resources and unique wildlife. But separating said mountains is a deadly fog that suffocates and weighs heavily on all who enter it. Living in this fog are deadly creatures, humans who learned to overcome the fog and a legendary item that only the chosen one can find. All this and so much more do Isaac and Cassie explore in this episode of World Explorers....

This world is a mind bending one as Cassie and Isaac try to make time travel make sense. To do this they create these stones that allow time to travel through an object. In other words objects can age forward and backwards while staying in the present time. Confused yet? Just wait till we start talking about the affects this stone has on humans. 

We are all familiar with our sun which fills the world with its light, but what if the sun didn't produce light? What if instead it produced darkness? How would that work? How would the darkness effect the people living in this world? Well today Cassie and Isaac try to find the answers to these questions and to others. 

Emotions are often the thing that drive us but what if they were also the thing that powered the world. What starts with Isaac and Cassie trying to figure out how emotions could be made into a power source turns into a dystopian world complete with a overpowering government and children expected to save the world. 

Isaac and Cassie wanted to play with the idea of a cyber space themed world. First they explore different ideas of what this world could be before settling on one based on profiles. Every person has a profile representing them in this cyber world. And this profile lives its life based on what that irl person does online. 

Everyone has heard of the concept of the dream world, but what if everyone had access to said world whenever they fell asleep? What if everyone was dreaming the same dream? In this episode of World Explorers Isaac and Cassie take on those very questions. In the process they talk a bit of their own dreams, create a dream cult, and question just how powerful dreaming in this world should be. 

Warning: In this episode we do talk about suicided, fears, and death.  A door appears were their wasn't one earlier, you walk through it and find yourself in a world of your greatest fears. Today Isaac and Cassie considers what this door feeds on, if it can hurt you, how many people can be in it, and if people can interact with each other. They also share some of their own fears and discuses...

Going back to the potato throwing narwhals, Isaac and Cassie readapt this strange world into one in which stories can be created. By doing so they show what value can come out of the ridiculousness of ones imagination.
