Following Jesus is costly...it may cost you in terms of family, time, money, safety, security and any host of other things. But following Jesus is worth it. Jesus' disciples gave up their earthly lives following Jesus, but gained an eternity with Jesus. Luke 14:25-27 and Matthew 10:37-39

The Messiah's Eternal Kingdom brings the hope of His Demolition Project (defeating the devil, death, and evil), and His Construction Project (building a new creation and new humanity). In light of this hope, we can build His kingdom now. Revelation 20: 11-15; 21:1-6; 22:1-5

In the letter to the Hebrews, 1st century Jewish Christians were encouraged to persevere in their faith by remembering that Jesus is better than the things they formerly trusted in. This remains true for us today. Jesus is better so keep the faith! Hebrews

Throughout the book of Matthew, which was the reading for all of week 6, we see Christ meet needs through miracles in order to prove he is the Messiah, to remove any hindrance from hearing the good news, and to create others who shared the good news. Matt 9:9-13, Matt 15:32-39, Matt 14:22-31
