Ephesians 4 provides a model for how God wants his Church to function. unfortunately we see a different process going on in many American churches. There are too many consumers and not enough contributors - too many spectators and not enough servants. Ephesians 4:7-16

We are Church. Church is not something we do, it is who we are. Act 2:42-3:8

God is on the move, and you were made to move with Him. That's why God doesn't just save us from our sin, He saves us TO a mission: to make disciples who make disciples. Matthew 28:18-20

What is the Church? A relatively simple question, but how you answer has profound implications because what we believe about the Church will shape how we behave as the Church. We will consider what the Church is, is not, and four marks of the Church. Matthew 6:18-19 and others

I pity the fool who ignores wisdom. Proverbs 8:1-36

God's plan is for parents to disciple their kids, period. When we don't, bad things can happen. Even if we do, sometimes kids still go off course. Everyone is free to choose--whether to choose Jesus or not, whether to choose to disciple or be discipled

Words are powerful, and with great power comes great responsibility. As followers of the God who spoke life into existence, we seek to bring life and healing with our words instead of death and decay. Proverbs 18:21, etc.

One of the great relational pitfalls of our day is adultery. It wrecks marriages and families. It dashes hope, destroys dreams, and devastates us emotionally and spiritually. Solomon shares four principles for protecting our marriages from affairs. Proverbs 16:18; Proverbs 5:1-5, 8, 15-20; Matthew 5:27-28; 1 Corinthians 6:18

Lady Wisdom teaches that laziness leads to poverty and diligence leads to wealth. But is it really that simple? Over 100 verses in Proverbs warn of the perils of laziness and the rewards of diligence. Today we seek to understand and apply these truths. Proverbs 10:4-5; Proverbs 6:6-11; Proverbs 31-10-31

Fearing God produces wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. Fearing God leads to turning from evil. Fearing God prolongs life. Fearing God gives confidence.

God designed us for friendship. We need friends to live joyfully and to grow in godliness. But what does a good friend look like? And how do we become a good friend? We will find some answers to these questions in Proverbs. Proverbs 27:17, 17:9, 17:17, 27:6, 27:9, and John 15:13-15

Seek the bottom or the bottom will find you. Proverbs 18:12

Integrity is adherence to a moral code; honesty. Doing what we say and saying what we do. When people lack integrity, the consequences can be severe. We will look at what Proverbs and Jesus say about integrity and how we can develop it in our lives. Proverbs 2:7, 2:21, 10:9, 11:3, 19:1, 20:7, 28:6, 28:18.

As we begin our summer series in Proverbs we will consider why it is important, what proverbs are and what they are not, and how wisdom ("skillful living") benefits us and those around us, while bringing glory to God. Proverbs 1:1-7

Baptism is not an end but a beginning. Matt. 3:1-4:20

In the final chapter of Ruth we see that God rewards the loyal love of Ruth and Boaz and through them blesses not only Naomi, but the nation of Israel and the entire world. Ruth 4.

Boaz and Ruth are two "worthy" people whose actions of loyal love God uses in his plans to show loyal love to Naomi, Israel and the whole world. Ruth 2-3

The story of Ruth takes place during the dark and difficult times of the Judges. Yet, even in the middle of these times, faith grows and loyal love is shown. Ruth chapter 1

The Christian's life and ministry is not a race but Paul tells us it's like a race. Run with purpose! And stay focused on Jesus Christ and His Mission. 1 Corinthians 9:24-27; Colossians 1:15-18; Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 28:30-31

Reaching out to help restore someone who is going down a destructive path is one of the greatest expressions of love one Christian can show another. Because the truth is, we all need help following Jesus. That is the kind of faith that works. (James 5:19-20)

How do we remain steadfast through the trials of life? James' says it is through the power of prayer. We should pray in all circumstances because prayer is powerful. The reason prayer is powerful is because God is powerful! James 5:13-18

In James 5:12, James warns us about swearing. But his warning may not be about what might you think. He calls us to speak with honesty and live with integrity for the sake of the Gospel. James 5:12
