In this session, we’ll step into the moment Yusuf (AS) reveals himself to Binyamin and sees Allah’s plan unfold. As we explore the chapter, ask yourself: how do you respond when truth is finally revealed? When the test demands patience and trust, where do you stand with Allah’s plan for you?

In the next passage, Prophet Yusuf comes face-to-face with his brothers. In life, you may have been hurt, perhaps even betrayed by those closest to you. Yusuf was too. But when they returned, he didn’t react with revenge. Rather, he responded with wisdom. The Qur’an reminds us: healing takes time, restraint, and trust in Allah’s plan. Sometimes, the test is knowing when to stay silent.

Our income and consumption doesn’t just affect our bodies, it leave an imprint on the heart. What we earn, eat, and spend silently influences our connection to Allah. When the source lacks purity, the soul dims, du'a weakens, worship loses its light, and the heart begins to close. Purity in what we bring into our lives has a direct link to purity in the heart.

The plan of the Divine works in wondrous ways. It is of Allah’s wisdom that the matter of Yusuf’s imprisonment landed in the highest court in Egypt. The King now had a personal interest in the case, which would lead him to discover Yusuf’s innocence, his nobility, and talents.

In the next section of Dear Beloved Son, Imam al-Ghazali mentions 4 things that every Muslim must be careful to learn, should they seek to sincerely tread the spiritual path.

As we move forward in the next passage of Surah Yusuf, the king has a strange dream that puzzles him. Through this, Allah works in His own ways to bring the matter of the boy in the well directly into the court of the King of Egypt. When Allah is on your side, miracles occur, and protection is given, and change happens from sources no one could have predicted.

Despite Prophet Yusuf doing all the right things, his situation does not immediately improve after inviting fellow prisoners to Allah. Instead, he is let down by humans yet again; however, his trust in Allah’s plan and willingness to help others does not waver in the least.

In a time where people often conflate feeling spiritual with true spirituality, the advice of Imam al-Ghazali is especially pertinent: the correct measure of religiosity is to fulfill God’s commands, not your desires. Recorded: July 9, 2025
