Designed to be more precise and thorough, the Larger Catechism complements the Shorter Catechism, which aims to be easier to read and concise for beginners. Completed by the Westminster Assembly in 1647, this essential work was adopted by the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland in 1648, and later modified for the Presbyterian Synod of New York and Philadelphia in 1788.
