Wake Before the Day

The Psalmist names something we have all experienced at some point - envy of those in the world and are successful. We wrestle with the idea that the "grass is greener on the other side" when in reality it rarely is. Let's unpack Psalm 73 together.

We all go through "wilderness" seasons but we all go through these seasons differently. Is our focus on the Lord or our problems? Regardless of what we're going through King David invites into praise.

In Psalm 51 King David walks us through his confession in light of his adultery with Bathsheeba and the murder of her husband. In the midst of the pain, this Psalm is a beautiful gift for us today as we too need to be walking to continual repentance.

Who doesn't want "peace" in their heart? The Bible seems to talk a lot about "peace", I wonder why we don't experience it more. Colossians 3 teaches us that what we think about and look at greatly impact our lives. When Jesus is in his rightful place everything else seems to fall into place as well.

There is a false humility in the church today with people saying "I don't know" to questions. While the Bible may not speak to every single thing in life it does speak to all that pertains to faith, salvation and a flourishing life with God.

Because it seems their focus has been on angels, Moses, the prophets, the priests etc. How do we keep our thoughts on Jesus? Live out verse 13, by encouraging one another daily - let's go!

It's important to identify sin that is quick to ensnare and entertain. The remedy is to fix your eyes, thoughts and attention on Jesus.

We receive the gift of faith from God and then are called to exercise our "faith muscle" even when our life and ministry appear "fruitless"!

Some of us need to take Jesus' forgiveness seriously and forgive ourselves. Others of us need to take our sin more seriously. Which are you?

So Jesus is greater than ... Moses, angels, the high priest ... the list goes on and on. What's the big deal? Jesus' kingdom and way of life is different and greater than anything humanity had ever known. God's law isn't on a stone tablet anymore it's on the believer's heart. It's not something we take off and put on, he's forever with us.

Jesus is unchanging which means the path to salvation and salvation itself are also unchanging!
