Wake Before the Day

Laziness benefits nobody! Work hard, plan ahead, and you'll have food and material possessions to spare and share!

If you love someone you'll be willing to have the hard conversation with them! As the Proverbs have mentioned before "discipline" is two-fold. In one sense "discipline" can be a consequence to negative action and yet in another sense "discipline" is sticking to the plan, the habit or the way you've committed to. Isolation and self-centeredness are foreign to God's design. God created us for family and community.

Initially the ways of wisdom and foolishness may look similar but they end up in vastly different places. We need discernment!

Godly living should be persuasive. Do your words and life align? Wisdom is a giver not a taker.

The sluggard (laziness) and the scoundrel (thief) act in unloving ways. Fire can be an instrument of pain or of good. The difference? Self-control.

This Proverb begins with **WARNING** PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT YOU ARE ABOUT TO HEAR! The chapter continues to unpack how the ways of the "adulterous woman" are seductive and are not life giving. A question to ask ourselves is, "Who has my ear? Who's voice influences my thinking and formation? At the end of the day, everything is done under the gracious supervision of God. God's "word and way" act as guardian and guardrail for our life. Accept, remember and apply God's word to your life today!

Wisdom is not a secret, it is not found in a game of spiritual hide and seek. God is available and wants you to be wise!

This Psalm begins and ends pointing out God's righteousness - let's call it a righteousness sandwich! The heart of the Psalm tells us to spend time reflecting and meditating on God's past faithfulness, a common theme in this book!

When we ask for help God we believe God gives us what we need. It might not always be what we wished or hoped for but we trust that God only gives us what is best. Psalm 138 concludes by essentially saying, "God fulfill your purposes in my life!" Let's pray the same for us today!

Psalm 121 holds a special place in our heart. It is one of the first passages of scripture we memorized as a family. It tells us that God not only watches over us but he protects us day and night and in our coming and in our going! Join us as we see what we learn about God and ourselves in this chapter.

While praise and worship can take many different "shapes and sizes", this Psalm is all about loud shouts of praise and joy filled worship songs. In this podcast we'll discuss who God is and what he has done!

Blessed are those whose hearts are set on pilgrimage! (Psalm 84:5) We were created for a relationship with God, and the Psalmist says those who go through the ups and downs of this life focused on God will be blessed. Let's unpack this encouraging chapter that wraps up reminding us that God doesn't withhold any good thing from those he loves!
