The Declaration of Independence mentions liberty as a God-given right. Grab your Bible and follow along with Pastor Mike as he gives multiple examples of liberty throughout the Word of God. The prophet Hosea's desire was for the nation to come back to the Lord and repent of their backsliding. He knew that God would respond by showing them mercy, if they truly repented. The same Lord Jesus Christ is calling all to come to Him and find mercy today!

In several instances in the Old Testament, the Lord told his people that they despised the law of the Lord and the Word of the Lord. In each instance, since they refused to repent, the judgment of the Lord fell. We need to have a love for God's Word and seek to live our life according to the Bible.

Jesus tells a parable to the Jewish leaders about themselves. He foretells what will happen if they reject the only son of the lord of the vineyard. After the Lord gave King Amaziah a victory, he began to be prideful and it led to his destruction. God sent a prophet to warn him and he refused to repent, so the Lord hardened his heart. Many claim that the Bible doesn't talk about giving in the New Testament, but there are several passages, including Ananias and Sapphira. The Bible describes that a Christian that is saved by Jesus Christ not only has their sins forgiven but they become the sons of God. An Old Testament story shows us the danger of getting the words from God secondhand. An old prophet lied to a man of God saying he had received a word from an angel, which led to his death. We see King Solomon refusing to obey God's command that the kings of Israel should not marry wives of the heathen nations surrounding them. Paul and Silas are praising God for being sent to prison for the Lord and an earthquake hits to free them. The book of Proverbs describes a type of fool called the "simple" ten times. Taking these verses across the book, it paints a picture of people that lack biblical wisdom and discernment and fall for the lies of this world. The Bible dedicates an entire psalm to dealing with judges who are corrupt. They are to be defending the powerless and poor, yet are taking bribes and showing favoritism. The Bible says the results shake the entire society and make life worse for all, but they will stand in judgment before Jesus Christ. After Peter healed the lame man that begged at the Beautiful Gate, a huge crowd appeared at the temple. How would Peter respond? Psalm 80 is a psalm of Asaph where he admits that the children of Israel have a problem and asks the Lord to turn us again. He includes himself in the problem and it is an example of repentance. The last chapter in Acts details Paul's trip to Rome and his house arrest. He had already been in prison for two years in Caesarea, but he refused to quit spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ, which is what got him in trouble with the Jews in the first place. David's final psalm deals with his promise to praise the Lord. David tells us that the Lord's character is good, great, righteous, and faithful, which are all worthy of our praise. Psalm 64 is David's prayer to God because his enemies were meeting in secret to conspire against him and were spreading lies. The book of Romans can be a tricky book to understand. Whenever you encounter a difficult passage, the Bible can always be used to explain itself. Pastor Mike uses the story of Jacob wrestling with God in Genesis 32 to explain Romans 5:1. So many people are wrestling with God spiritually and need to try to stop getting God to submit, but submit themselves to Jesus Christ.

King David near the end of his life gives instructions for the how they should live after his death. He tells the nation to keep and seek the Lord. The Bible talks about the faith of Moses' parents to keep him alive when he was born in both the Old and New Testaments. Romans 4 shows us that Abraham believed God's promise for a great nation to come from his seed and he was fully persuaded of that promised.
