Each of us will encounter suffering at some time, in some degree. Psalm 130 is essential for us, for it convinces us that the big difference is not what people suffer, but more in the way we suffer. It is a powerful reminder that our suffering is not out of bounds for God. We are persuaded that God’s way with us is redemption and that redemption, not suffering, is ultimate.
