Join us for the second week of Advent as our Lay Leader David Shaffer shares how Jesus, the Prince of Peace is the source of our Peace.  

Advent is upon us, the season in which we prepare and wait for the coming of Jesus at Christmas.  Join us as we explore the theme of waiting and look at stories from the Old Testament that teach us how God works in our waiting.

Do we believe what Jesus taught about money or do we believe the lie our culture tells?  Everything in our culture preaches the gospel of more, more, more, yet Jesus says that life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.  Join us as the Holy Spirit challenges us in our relationship to money and things. 

On Veterans' Day we honor our Veterans and ask the question... will you be enlisted in Christ's Kingdom?  Will you serve the poor and outcast, and give water to the thirsty?  Will you be the body, the hands and feet of Jesus to a needy world?

We wrap up our series with a discussion of how Christians should seek justice in our world.  We cannot give up on the biblical mandate to live in right relationship with those around us.  Christians throughout history have worked for justice in their day and cultural moment, we should do likewise.

The biblical mandate to Chesed, translated as: loving kindness, mercy or loyal love is very clear!  We as Christians are called to become like our God who is characterized by this loving kindness, even in the midst of divided times.  Will we be different than the rest of America this month?  Will we choose to allow Jesus to shape us toward kindness?

Join our conversation about the virtue of Humility in the Christian life. The Way of Jesus is one of humility, service and dying to ourselves but it is also the way of joy and peace and goodness.  Much of the world does after power and those who have inflated ego, but we follow the crucified messiah, who leads with humility. 

Today we start a new series on Micah 6:8 talking about how we engage as disciples.  Our scripture today reminds us that we follow a crucified Messiah, one who calls us to follow him to the cross.  Join us as we contrast the way of Barabbas and the way of Jesus. 

Join us as we finish up our series on discipleship to Jesus and discuss the cost of discipleship, what it takes and how good it is to follow Rabbi Jesus. 

Today we discuss the third goal of a disciple of Jesus, to carry on the work of Jesus... or to do the things he calls us to.  Much of what Jesus calls us to is intimacy and knowing him as well as allowing him to shape our character, but it must be lived out in our real lives.  It must translate to action and mission in our real lives.  What is He calling you to do today?

Today we discuss the 2nd goal in our definition of being a disciple, becoming like Jesus.  What does this look like for us?  And what would it look like if a whole group of people actually unified around this goal?  Moral beauty is something to behold. 

We continue our series on deeper discipleship or apprenticeship to Jesus this week as we look at the first goal, being with Jesus.  It is pretty amazing that God wants to be with us, so what does that mean for us today?  What are practices that help us turn our mind to God over and over again in our everyday lives?

We begin our Fall series entitled, 'A Vision for Discipleship'.  There is clearly a gap between folks who identify as a Christian and those who choose to live as a disciple of Jesus, despite the Jesus' and the New Testaments' clear call to be a disciple.  So... The Parable of the Good Samaritan has many implications for us, especially as we approach the Presidential election.  Join us as we seek to keep Jesus as our Lord and authority in our lives. 

Supporting women in ministry is a key difference between Methodist and some other strong denominations in our area, so today Pastor John looks at how we interpret the bible with an eye specifically towards a biblical case for supporting women in ministry.  Take a look or share with a friend!

Today we explore why Methodist practice infant baptism.  Historically this has been the practice for the overwhelming majority of churches, but it is not necessarily common in our area.  This is an extremely secondary issue, and in no way are we trying to say you have to do it a specific way.  We love and welcome folks who were baptized as infants and those who were not. 

So how did the Methodist spread scriptural holiness throughout the land? How did they encourage and spur one another on toward love and good deeds? The answer is the class meetings and bands.  Join us to learn more about the Method which they became known for. 

Join us as we discuss practicing our faith with intentionality.  Jesus says those who put his teachings into practice are those who build their house on the rock; not simply agreeing with his message.  Are we intentional in the way we build our lives around Jesus and his purposes for our lives? 

The early methodists were known for their preaching on holiness.  We agree with them that holiness is not an optional add-on to the Christian life, but a necessary part of life with God following justification.  Join us as we discuss problems with holiness and how we think through holiness.

The early Methodists were convinced that God's grace is available to all, and that God truly wants all to be saved and offers this grace to all!  They taught that God respected human dignity and allows people to turn away from Him as they desired to.  This was in conflict with those in their day who held strongly to the view of predestination, meaning God arbitrarily choose humans to receive...

Pastor John shares a short intro to our new series entitled, Marks of Methodism for Today.  The Methodist Movement swept across England and America in the 1700s spreading scriptural holiness throughout the land.  Here at Trinity, we want to be a part of the renewal of Methodism and Christian revival in our town and around the world.  Would you join us? 

The Methodists reminded the church of the centrality of love and marked the defining characteristic of its members as Holy Love filling and encapsulating the soul.  Pastor John teaches on our Christian understanding of Love and on the importance of receiving the transforming love of God in our lives. 

Join us as we wrap up the story of Jonah, with Jonah suggesting that he is angry enough to die!  God loves even the Ninevites, your worst enemy.  Are we willing to allow God's love to transform us, or will we go on pouting like Jonah? 

Today we discuss Jonah 3, the Ninevites repentance and the mercy of our God who is quick to forgive and slow to anger.  

Today we find Jonah praying in the belly of the fish.  He teaches us that in some of our lowest moments we can know deep intimacy with God and allow God to shape us more into Christ-like love.
