The Death of . . .(Matthew 27:45-66) 30.06.2026

The death and burial of the Lord Jesus.

Smitten and Afflicted (Matthew 27:27-44) 22.06.2026

We follow Jesus from the Roman Governor to his headquarters with the soldiers to Golgotha.  While what's taking place may seem tragic, it is all according to the perfect plan and purpose of God.

Just a Sad, Sad Story (Matthew 27:1-26) 19.06.2026

As we continue our study in Matthew and near the end of the story, we come to three episodes where choices are made - and they aren't good choices.  In fact, it's just a sad, sad story.  But thankfully, the story doesn't end here...

In the Garden (Matthew 26:36-56) 02.06.2026

Here we get a glimpse into the humanity of the Lord Jesus through this intimate scene between the Father and the Son in the Garden of Gethsemane.

The Fruit that Reveals the Root (Matthew 25:31-46) 13.05.2026

Rev. Brandon VanMarels preaches from Matthew 25.

Be Patient, Be Ready, Persevere (Matthew 24:36-51) 26.04.2026

Jesus turns our attention from the destruction of Jerusalem to His 2nd Coming.  This day and hour of his coming will be unknown.  We are called to live faithfully as we wait.

Something Big is Happening Here (Matthew 24:29-35) 19.04.2026

Jesus continues ministering to His disciples on the Mount of Olives preparing them for the coming judgment upon Jerusalem and the destruction of the temple.

Let the Reader Understand (Matthew 24:15-28) 14.04.2026

In this difficult passage, Jesus continues to teach his disciples concerning the coming destruction of the city and the temple.  Jesus faithfully shepherds his followers warning them of the coming judgment.

Raised for our Justification (Romans 4:22-25) 05.04.2026

O the glorious truth of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus!

Signs of the End of the Age (Matthew 24:3-14) 30.03.2026

While Jesus certainly speaks of his 2nd Coming, He does at the end of chapter 24 and chapter 25.  Here, though, in the Olivet Discourse, His attention is turned toward the end of the Jewish age and the destruction of the temple and of Jerusalem.  He prepares His disciples for what will take place in the next 40 years leading to the judgment of 70 AD.

The End of What Age? (Matthew 24:1-3, 34-35) 22.03.2026

This morning we introduce the 5th of Jesus' great discourses, The Olivet Discourse.  Here, Jesus predicts the fall of Jerusalem and the destruction of the temple.  Too often, this passage is seen as yet future even to us, but Jesus clearly states, "The generation will pass away until all these things take place."

O Jerusalem, Jerusalem! (Matthew 23:1-9) 19.03.2026

Jesus prepares the crowds and his disciples for what's coming for what had become of the Jewish religion - a religion now devoid of God and righteousness, but full of self-righteousness.  Seven woes he gives to the Scribes and Pharisees.

You Need to Know Him to Love Him (Matthew 22:34-46) 09.03.2026

After the Sadducees had been silenced, the Pharisees take another stab at trying to trap Jesus with a question concerning the Law.  He reveals once again that they their hearts are far from Him - that in all their attention to the Law, they miss Jesus - they miss the heart of it all. Jesus follows this up with a question of his own - this one concerning the David's Son - not only do they not love...

Attempting to Trap Wisdom (Matthew 22:15-33) 01.03.2026

After a series of three parables that Jesus tells of the Jewish religious leaders, they now come to him with a series of three questions, two of which are covered in this sermon.  Here, Jesus takes their questions that are meant to trap him and turns them around to expose the conditions of their hearts.

An Unsettling Wedding Feast (Matthew 22:1-14) 23.02.2026

Here we find the third parable in this set of three where Jesus confronts Israel's failure to respond to the Lord.  It's the parable of the wedding feast - who would possibly reject the invitation of a king to his son's wedding?

Obtaining an Inheritance (Matthew 21:28-46) 17.02.2026

Jesus brings an effective indictment against the religious leaders of Israel with two parables set in a vineyard.  Jesus says he will take the kingdom from them and give it to a nation producing its fruits.
