Travolting

From Lucas to Night On Earth, Winona Ryder blew our socks off right away. Like many actors early in their career, Winona quickly finds her stride and her confidence in her performing abilities and with each proceeding film she works on, her abilities grow even stronger. HOWEVER... unlike many actors, young and old, she is able to take a chance on the next phase of her career and take her skills in...

A story told in five individual vignettes, all taking place in one night in different taxi cabs across the world. This movie explores those moments where a short encounter with a stranger showcases the various passive lives people do in their day to day. Sound boring? Well watch it at 2 o'clock in the morning and you'll think otherwise.

Heads up gang, if you think you are about to hit play on this episode and listen to a discussion about a movie with mermaids in it... this is not going to be the episode for you. Instead, Jeff, Stuart and special guest Charlie Schumann dive deep into a movie about a mother and a daughter reconciling their differences and figuring out what growing up and being a parent is really all about. CHER!

There was Wolverine, then Freddy Krueger, but in this movie, the man with the claws is a gentle soul who likes trimming hedges and giving hair cuts! Winona plays her most opposite role she's done so far with the blondest wig you've ever seen.

When a small midwest town is gearing up for a reunion with their native famous celebrity; Winona Ryder's "Dinky", an outsider social recluse, contemplates if she may be the daughter of the famous Roxy Carmichael. This movie "almost" hit many points for us, but sadly lacks any conviction in its themes.

We've seen movies like Elvis, Judy, Whiplash, Amadeus, and many others that explores an iconic artist who went through troubled times but left a legacy that will stand the test of time. This movie would like to be in that club, however what you will find is an exploration of a deplorable man who thought coercing and marrying his 13-year-old first cousin was a perfectly fine thing to do; but hey he...

This may be our sweatiest christmas episode yet...

They said this movie would kill her career before it ever began. They said this movie was tasteless, controversial and extreme; but as Christian Slater as J.D. says in the 1988 cult classic 'Heathers', "The extreme always seems to make an impression." Join Jeff, Stuart and Rebecca Sweeney as they divulge into the nuanced and intricate take on high school culture and we ask those nay-sayers of the...

The moon landing, woodstock, vietnam; these are all major events happening in the year 1969, all shown as a backdrop to two college students dodging the draft and contemplating the path of their lives. In this movie we see Winona Ryder, Kiefer Sutherland, and Robert Downey Jr; all develop their own ideas and opinions on the state of the nation fighting in an unjust war.

Don't say it three times! After two small roles and project, Winona takes the world by force as Lydia, the strange and peculiar girl who can see dead people in Tim Burton's 1988 cult classic, Beetlejuice. Beetlejuice not only brought us Winona, but it also paved way for Michael Keaton and many other amazing artists. Join the boys and special guest Scott Hoelzer as they dive deep into the unfathoma...

13-year-old Winona Ryder plays Gemma, an awkward small town religious girl who wants to move away from her small minded community and angry grandfather to go live with her mother in the big city, Fort Worth Texas. Much like Travolta in Urban Cowboy, Winona soon finds that the cultural shift will rock her world.

Winona Wednesdays begins with Ryder's very first role in a motion picture, Lucas; a film starring Carey Haim, Kerri Green and the unproblematic Charlie Sheen. An 80's film that promotes healthy platonic relationships as opposed to forced and uncomfortable romances. Wait a minute...

Two seasons down, only 58 more to go. Jeff and Stuart cap off the seasons end with a final retrospective on Brendan Fraser starting from where he's been, what he's doing, and where we think he'll go (or should go) from here.

Scorsese is back and this time, he brought our boy Fraser along. In this new resurgence of Fraser's career, the boys are excited to see Fraser perform well in the small roles he gets, and boy does he deliver! As always, we highly recommend folks go watch the movie first before listening to this episode as this will be a spoiler heavy episode as they all are.

You may be looking at this notification on your phone and thinking "wait a second... didn't they scrap the Batgirl movie?" Where would the Travolting boys be without their inside sources? That's right... we got the scoop! A secret full cut of the movie that we got to watch, record ourselves talking about it, and release the discussion to you folks! Let's see how long it takes before Warner Brother...

It has finally arrived... the 'big' one... we mean that both literally and metaphorically. The movie that inspired the Travolting boys to investigate Fraser's career in the first place, The Whale. Joined by special guest, Justin Campbell, as well as a few surprise visits, much like what happens in the movie, The Whale.

Folks, we now enter a new era with the Fraser's Edge, the Auteurist Return Era. Starting with a Soderbergh film taking place in the 1950's starring two mobsters on the run from a heist gone bad. Fraser's role? The man who hired them!

The Hollywood Exile Era was certainly tough to get through, but knowing that there was a light on the other side was what kept the boys going. Jeff and Stuart recap the rough patch of Fraser’s career and speak on the quick rise back to the spotlight that is to come.

Is it scientology? Is it Terryology? Is it some kind of pagan ritualistic cult? No. It’s the Secret of Karma, told to you by director and businessman Milan Friedrich. Is this movie trying to teach us a religion? A way of life? A new philosophy about the morals between good and evil? Can Fraser really pull off that outfit and make-up? One can only watch the movie in its entirety to know for sure… o...

Imagine an Indian version of the Godfather. Could be cool, right? Except if that’s what this movie is, why is Brendan Fraser here?

Fans of Travolting, let’s imagine what this phone call was like for a moment shall we? Jeff calling Stuart Stuart: Hello? Jeff: Stuart. Stuart: Yes Jeff. Jeff: I’m so sorry to have to tell you this. Stuart: Oh great what is it now? Jeff: I was looking at our roster for The Fraser’s Edge…Stuart: Yes? Jeff: And I’ve discovered something that I cannot believe we didn’t think about. Stuart: OkayJeff:...

It's Sunday 2014, you just got out of 10:30 mass with your family. After Mom finishes talking to all of her church friends while you, your siblings and Dad are waiting by the car; Mom mentions the prospects of going to the movies. You're in high school, but as the oldest you also have two or three younger siblings in middle/elementary school so Birdman is out. That's when your youngest sibling vot...

The Travolting boys do a quick pit stop back to our original guy, Travolta the man himself. Mob Land takes an interesting approach when it comes to the idea of what Travolta can do in movies, because once you watch this you’ll understand that Travolta just needs to stop trying to play the grizzled tough guy sheriff.

You know her from the disney classic High School Musical, now watch Vanessa Hudgens play a homeless and pregnant high school dropout who struggles to get away from her drug addict mother and get help from her successful business father (Fraser), only she doesn’t want his help either so she goes to a christian shelter for pregnant teenagers. Definitely the same joyous rom-com vibe of her disney day...

Brendan Fraser takes on his next big foe in this action packed thriller… logging companies! Joined again by special guest, Alex Wilson, the boys have a big discussion on Fraser’s current career status, the ethics of neurotypical actors playing characters on the spectrum, and how dumb the kids in this movie have to be to be stuck in this situation that they’re in.
