Traditional Latin Mass Gospel Readings

Readings of the Gospel from the Traditional Latin Mass for every day. I am using “The Saint Andrew Daily Missal”. Imprimatur Jos Van Der Meersch 1945. I am also using “The Roman Missal (1962)” Most Reverend Fabian W Bruskewitz, DD, STD, Bishop of Lincoln. Saint readings are taken from “Saints for Young People for Every Day of the Year”. Imprimatur Richard Cardinal Cushing Archbishop of Boston 1963. For the descriptions, I am using the Online Douay Rheims Bible readings and read along. There are also good footnotes in this interpretation. Artwork: AI-generated, used with permission.

[20] Then came to him the mother of the sons of Zebedee with her sons, adoring and asking something of him. [21] Who said to her: What wilt thou? She saith to him: Say that these my two sons may sit, the one on thy right hand, and the other on thy left, in thy kingdom. Qui dixit ei : Quid vis? Ait illi :...

July 24, 2022. Gospel Matt 7:15-21. Seventh Sunday of Pentecost. 24.07.2022

[15] Beware of false prophets, who come to you in the clothing of sheep, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. By their fruits you shall know them. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? a fructibus eorum cognoscetis eos.

[24] And there was also a strife amongst them, which of them should seem to be the greater. [25] And he said to them: The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them; and they that have power over them, are called beneficent.

[36] And one of the Pharisees desired him to eat with him. And he went into the house of the Pharisee, and sat down to meat. [37] And behold a woman that was in the city, a sinner, when she knew that he sat at meat in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster box of ointment; [38] And standing behind at his feet, she began to wash his feet, with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head, a...

July 21, 2022. Gospel Matt 13:44-52. St Praxedes. Virgin. 21.07.2022

[44] The kingdom of heaven is like unto a treasure hidden in a field. Which a man having found, hid it, and for joy thereof goeth, and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field. [45] Again the kingdom of heaven is like to...

July 20, 2022. Gospel Matt 19:13-21. St. Jerome Emilian, Confessor 20.07.2022

[13] Then were little children presented to him, that he should impose hands upon them and pray. And the disciples rebuked them. [14] But Jesus said to them: Suffer the little children, and forbid them not to come to me: for the kingdom of heaven is for such. Jesus vero ait eis : Sinite parvulos, et no...

July 18, 2022. Gospel John, 15.12-16. Continuation of Christ's discourse to his Apostles. 18.07.2022

[12] This is my commandment, that you love one another, as I have loved you. [13] Greater love than this no man hath, that a man lay down his life for his friends. [14] You are my friends, if you do the things that I command you.

And you yourselves like to men who wait for their lord, when he shall return from the wedding; that when he cometh and knocketh, they may open to him immediately. 12:37. July 14, 2022. Gospel Matt 5:13-19. 14.07.2022

[13] You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt lose its savour, wherewith shall it be salted? It is good for nothing any more but to be cast out, and to be trodden on by men. Vos estis sal terrae. [14] You are the light of the world. A city seated on a mountain cannot be hid. V...

[43] You have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thy enemy. [44] But I say to you, Love your enemies: do good to them that hate you: and pray for them that persecute and calumniate you: Ego autem dico vobis : Diligite inimicos vestros, benefacite his qui oderunt vos, et orate pro per...
