Traditional Latin Mass Gospel Readings

Readings of the Gospel from the Traditional Latin Mass for every day. I am using “The Saint Andrew Daily Missal”. Imprimatur Jos Van Der Meersch 1945. I am also using “The Roman Missal (1962)” Most Reverend Fabian W Bruskewitz, DD, STD, Bishop of Lincoln. Saint readings are taken from “Saints for Young People for Every Day of the Year”. Imprimatur Richard Cardinal Cushing Archbishop of Boston 1963. For the descriptions, I am using the Online Douay Rheims Bible readings and read along. There are also good footnotes in this interpretation. Artwork: AI-generated, used with permission.

June 22, 2024. Gospel: Luke 12:32-34. St Paulinus, Bishop, Confessor 22.06.2024

32  Fear not, little flock, for it hath pleased your Father to give you a kingdom. Nolite timere pusillus grex, quia complacuit Patri vestro dare vobis regnum.  33  Sell what you possess and give alms. Make to yourselves bags which grow not old, a treasure in heaven which faileth not: where no thief approacheth, nor moth corrupteth. Vendite quae possidetis, et date eleemosynam. Facite vobis saccul...

June 21, 2024. Gospel: Matt 22:29-40. St Aloysius Gonzaga, Confessor 21.06.2024

29  And Jesus answering, said to them: You err, not knowing the Scriptures, nor the power of God. For in the resurrection they shall neither marry nor be married; but shall be as the angels of God in heaven. 31  And...

1  And it came to pass, that when the multitudes pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Genesareth, Factum est autem, cum turbae irruerunt in eum ut audirent verbum Dei, et ipse stabat secus stagnum Genesareth.  2  And saw two ships standing by the lake: but the fishermen were gone out of them, and were washing their nets. Et vidit duas naves stantes secus stagnum : pisc...

June 19, 2024. Gospel: Matt 25:1-13. St Juliana Falconieri, Virgin 19.06.2024

1  Then shall the kingdom of heaven be like to ten virgins, who taking their lamps went out to meet the bridegroom and the bride. Tunc simile erit regnum caelorum decem virginibus : quae accipientes lampades suas exierunt obviam sponso et sponsae.  2  And five of them were foolish, and five wise. Quinque autem ex eis erant fatuae, et quinque prudentes :  3  But the five foolish, having taken their...

June 18, 2024. Gospel: Matt 5:13-19. St Ephrem, Deacon, Confessor, Doctor of the Church 18.06.2024

13  You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt lose its savour, wherewith shall it be salted? It is good for nothing any more but to be cast out, and to be trodden on by men. Vos estis sal terrae. 14  You are the light of the world. A city seated on a mountain cannot be hid. V...

14  For even as a man going into a far country, called his servants, and delivered to them his goods; Sicut enim homo peregre proficiscens, vocavit servos suos, et tradidit illis bona sua.  15  And to one he gave five talents, and to another two, and to another one, to every one according to his proper ability: and immediately he took his journey.

27  And it came to pass, as he spoke these things, a certain woman from the crowd, lifting up her voice, said to him: Blessed is the womb that bore thee, and the paps that gave thee suck. 28  But he said: Yea rather, blessed are they who hear the word of...

June 14, 2024. Gospel: Luke 14:26-33. St Basil the Great. Bishop, Confessor, Doctor of the Church 14.06.2024

26  If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. 27  And whosoever doth not carry his cross and come after me, cann...

35  Let your loins be girt, and lamps burning in your hands. Sint lumbi vestri praecincti, et lucernae ardentes in manibus vestris,  36  And you yourselves like to men who wait for their lord, when he shall return from the wedding; that when he cometh and knocketh, they may open to him immediately. et vos similes hominibus exspectantibus dominum suum quando revertatur a nuptiis : ut, cum venerit e...

16  Behold I send you as sheep in the midst of wolves. Be ye therefore wise as serpents and simple as doves. Ecce ego mitto vos sicut oves in medio luporum. Estote ergo prudentes sicut serpentes, et simplices sicut columbae.  17  But beware of men. For they will deliver you up in councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues. June 10, 2024. Gospel: Matt 13:44-52. St Margaret, Queen of Scotland, Widow 10.06.2024

44  The kingdom of heaven is like unto a treasure hidden in a field. Which a man having found, hid it, and for joy thereof goeth, and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field. 45  Again the kingdom of heaven is like to...
