Traditional Latin Mass Gospel Readings

Readings of the Gospel from the Traditional Latin Mass for every day. I am using “The Saint Andrew Daily Missal”. Imprimatur Jos Van Der Meersch 1945. I am also using “The Roman Missal (1962)” Most Reverend Fabian W Bruskewitz, DD, STD, Bishop of Lincoln. Saint readings are taken from “Saints for Young People for Every Day of the Year”. Imprimatur Richard Cardinal Cushing Archbishop of Boston 1963. For the descriptions, I am using the Online Douay Rheims Bible readings and read along. There are also good footnotes in this interpretation. Artwork: AI-generated, used with permission.

Nov 19, 2024. Gospel: Matt 19:3-12. St Elizabeth, Widow 19.11.2024

44  The kingdom of heaven is like unto a treasure hidden in a field. Which a man having found, hid it, and for joy thereof goeth, and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field. Simile est regnum caelorum thesauro abscondito in agro : quem qui invenit homo, abscondit, et prae gaudio illius vadit, et vendit universa quae habet, et emit agrum illum.  45  Again the kingdom of heaven is like to a...

1  And entering in, he walked through Jericho. Et ingressus perambulabat Jericho.  2  And behold, there was a man named Zacheus, who was the chief of the publicans, and he was rich. Et ecce vir nomine Zachaeus : et hic princeps erat publicanorum, et ipse dives :  3  And he sought to see Jesus who he was, and he could not for the crowd, because he was low of stature. et quaerebat videre Jesum, qui...

Nov 17, 2024. Gospel: Matt 13:31-35. Twenty Sixth Sunday After Pentecost. 17.11.2024

3 1  Another parable he proposed unto them, saying: The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took and sowed in his field. Aliam parabolam proposuit eis dicens : Similis est regnum caelorum grano sinapis, quod accipiens homo seminavit in agro suo :  32  Which is the least indeed of all seeds; but when it is grown up, it is greater than all herbs, and becometh a tree, so...

Nov 16, 2024. Gospel: Matt 25:1-13. St Gertrude, Virgin 16.11.2024

1  Then shall the kingdom of heaven be like to ten virgins, who taking their lamps went out to meet the bridegroom and the bride. Tunc simile erit regnum caelorum decem virginibus : quae accipientes lampades suas exierunt obviam sponso et sponsae.  2  And five of them were foolish, and five wise. Quinque autem ex eis erant fatuae, et quinque prudentes :  3  But the five foolish, having taken their...

Nov 15, 2024. Gospel Matt 5:13-19. St Albert the Great, Bishop, Confessor, and Doctor of the Church 15.11.2024

13  You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt lose its savour, wherewith shall it be salted? It is good for nothing any more but to be cast out, and to be trodden on by men. Vos estis sal terrae. Quod si sal evanuerit, in quo salietur? ad nihilum valet ultra, nisi ut mittatur foras, et conculcetur ab hominibus.  14  You are the light of the world. A city seated on a mountain cannot be hid. Vo...

Nov 14, 2024. Gospel: John 10:11-16. St Josaphat, Bishop, Martyr 14.11.2024

11  I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd giveth his life for his sheep. Ego sum pastor bonus. Bonus pastor animam suam dat pro ovibus suis.  12  But the hireling, and he that is not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and flieth: and the wolf catcheth, and scattereth the sheep: Mercenarius autem, et qui non est pastor, cujus non sunt oves p...

Nov 13, 2024. Gospel: Luke 12:32-34. St Didacus, Confessor 13.11.2024

32  Fear not, little flock, for it hath pleased your Father to give you a kingdom. Nolite timere pusillus grex, quia complacuit Patri vestro dare vobis regnum.  33  Sell what you possess and give alms. Make to yourselves bags which grow not old, a treasure in heaven which faileth not: where no thief approacheth, nor moth corrupteth. Vendite quae possidetis, et date eleemosynam. Facite vobis saccul...

Nov 11, 2024. Gospel: Luke 11:33-36. St Martin, Bishop, Confessor 11.11.2024

33  No man lighteth a candle, and putteth it in a hidden place, nor under a bushel; but upon a candlestick, that they that come in, may see the light. Nemo lucernam accendit, et in abscondito ponit, neque sub modio : sed supra candelabrum, ut qui ingrediuntur, lumen videant.  34  The light of thy body is thy eye. If thy eye be single, thy whole body will be lightsome: but if it be evil, thy bo...

24  Another parable he proposed to them, saying: The kingdom of heaven is likened to a man that sowed good seeds in his field. Aliam parabolam proposuit illis, dicens : Simile factum est regnum caelorum homini, qui seminavit bonum semen in agro suo :  25  But while men were asleep, his enemy came and oversowed cockle among the wheat and went his way. cum autem dormirent homines, venit inimicus eju...

25  Amen, amen I say unto you, that the hour cometh, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God, and they that hear shall live. Amen, amen dico vobis, quia venit hora, et nunc est, quando mortui audient vocem Filii Dei : et qui audierint, vivent.  26  For as the Father hath life in himself, so he hath given the Son also to have life in himself: Sicut enim Pater habet vitam...

17  These things I command you, that you love one another. Haec mando vobis : ut diligatis invicem.  18  If the world hate you, know ye, that it hath hated me before you. Si mundus vos odit, scitote quia me priorem vobis odio habuit.  19  If you had been of the world, the world would love its own: but because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the wo...
