Judgement is taken care of in Jesus which gives Christians hope and peace even as we wait through suffering. There is no other hope that comprehensively resolves dark days.

We finish our series on speaking the story of God by understanding “today” as we locate yourselves in the big story: responding rightly to God and holding out hope to others.

This Sunday we are starting a three-week series on “Memory Verses to live by” and we begin by looking at Romans 1:16-17. Brett will remind us that the gospel is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes. We will how this gospel power changes our lives, bringing assurance, confidence and courage.

In 1 Thessalonians 5, Paul teaches us how our hope of Christ’s return in the future compels us to live for Him now. He shows us how this hope changes the way we treat others, the way we spend our time, and the way we face trials and hardships.

What hope is there for those who die in Christ? It is always terribly sad when a loved one passes away, and Christian communities have always felt something of the sting of death. In today’s Bible passage (1 Thessalonians 2:17–3:5), we see Paul’s loving concern for the believers he was forced to leave behind, as well as his deep desire that they be strengthened in their faith in Jesus through all the difficulties they were facing.
