[Comment: Thy Will Be Done] Friends of the Rosary, We read this week (Mat 20:1-16) about the parable of the landowner who hires people at various times of the day and then pays everyone the same. From our human perspective, this is unfair. But we are wrong. The Father, who knows everything about everyone, distributes His graces as he sees fit. And this is great. Our knowledge is very limited and e...

[Comment: Invited by the Father] Friends of the Rosary, The Creator of the Universe invites us to a wedding—a joyful feast for his son (Matt 22:1-4). However, we, the guests, mostly refuse to come, arguing many reasons: we don't have time, we are not in the mood for a feast because of the difficulties, economic problems, and diseases we are facing, etc. Even when a special ambassador comes to us e...

[Comment: Offer the Suffering] Friends of the Rosary, On August 19, 1917, at four o'clock in the afternoon, it took place the fourth supernatural apparition of the Virgin Mary in Fatima, Portugal. Our Lady reminded Lucia to pray the Holy Rosary every day, and revealed: "Pray, pray much, and make sacrifices for sinners, for many souls go to hell because there is no one to sacrifice and pray for the...

[Comment: Parishes with the Rosary] Friends of the Rosary, The Holy Rosary is a Heaven-given prayer that has divine power-the power to touch our hearts and to fill them with virtues. St Louis de Montfort explained that Catholic parishes that keep on preaching the Rosary get transformed and faith flourishes. Meanwhile, those parishes that given up the Rosary generally fall back into their sinful wa...

[Comment: 150 Days] Friends of the Rosary, Today is our 150th Rosary, prayed every day without fail. Back in March, we started live streaming from the New York area a daily Rosary as a response to the pandemic. We asked for the protection of Our Lady of Fatima. Since then, the flow of grace has been abundant, beyond imagination. As the fifteenth century's Pope Julius III said, the Rosary, inspired...

[Comment: Persisting in Faith] Friends of the Rosary, In today's Sunday reading, a Canaanite woman persisted in her petition to Jesus to heal her tormented daughter. Initially, Jesus refused to answer but after seeing the woman’s faith the daughter was healed. Bishop Barron explains that God wants us to ask persistently—not in order He might be changed but we might be changed. The Lord forces us t...
August 15, 2020, Solemnity of The Assumption, Holy Rosary (Joyful Mysteries) 16.08.2020 31:21
[Comment: Joy Increased] Friends of the Rosary, Today, August 15th is the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary into Heaven, a major–and joyful–feast day. The Solemnity celebrates today both the departure of Mary from her earthly life and the assumption of her body and soul into heaven. This doctrine was dogmatically defined–after it was divinely revealed–seventy years ago by Pope Pius XII. The as...
August 14, 2020, Feast of St Maximilian Kolbe, Holy Rosary (Sorrowful Mysteries) 15.08.2020 26:08
[Comment: Patron of Suffering] Friends of the Rosary, Today is the Memorial Day of St Maximilian Kolbe, a Polish priest and martyr of charity who founded the Militia of the Immaculate Mary. Maximilian Kolbe was a ground-breaking theologian and evangelizer. His goal was to “win the world for the Immaculata.” In 1941, the Nazis imprisoned him in the Auschwitz death camp. There he offered his life in...

[Comment: Constant Forgiveness] Friends of the Rosary, Peter asked Jesus, “Lord, if my brother sins against me, how often must I forgive him? As many as seven times?” Jesus replied: “I say to you, not seven times but seventy-seven times.” (Matthew 18:21 - 19:1) This is the reading in today's Gospel. The Lord taught us the necessity of constant forgiveness. Agonizing on the cross, Jesus asked the F...

[Comment: The Assumption] Friends of the Rosary, The month of August is dedicated to The Immaculate Heart of Mary. And this Saturday 15th is the solemnity of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. The Assumption was an ancient belief, dating back to the apostles themselves. In 1950, Pope Pius XII proclaimed the Assumption of Mary a dogma, a truth revealed by the Holy Spirit, with these words...

[Comment: Finest Devotion] Friends of the Rosary, According to St Louis Mary De Montfort, one day Our Lady revealed to Blessed Alain de la Roche, a fifteenth-century French theologian, the following: After the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, which is the most important and living memorial of the Lord’s passion, there is no finer devotion or one of the greater merit than that of the Holy Rosary. “The H...

[Comment: Narrow Space] Friends of the Rosary, The fruit of the first Glorious mystery is faith. With the first Hail Mary, we ask for the increase of faith. To follow the truth and enjoy eternal happiness by serving Jesus, we need abundant faith. Wait, we all have faith, right? Well, only until we get seriously challenged. Meaning, until we face a big storm, a moment of darkness, or see our l...

[Comment: Loving the Cross] Friends of the Rosary, This month, we celebrate two martyrs of Auschwitz death camp, St Maximilian Kolbe, on August 14, and St Teresa Benedicta, Edith Stein, today. They both suffered the worst horrors of the twentieth century. Edith Stein was a brilliant university professor and an influential German philosopher. Born into a prominent Jewish family in 1891 in Bres...

[Comment: Weapon to Reform the World] Friends of the Rosary, We celebrate today the feast day of St. Dominic Guzman, the Spanish medieval priest who received the Holy Rosary from the Virgin Mary for the whole Catholic Church. He also founded the Order of Preachers, known as Dominicans. Along with the Franciscans, the Dominicans became a key Order to maintain the purity of the faith. Born in Caleru...

[Comment: Taking Our Cross] Friends of the Rosary, The fruits and the virtues to cultivate of the fifth mystery of Jesus dying in the cross—that we pray today—are self-denial, perseverance, and salvation. Moreover, as we learn in today’s reading (MT 16:24-28), Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wishes to come after me must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me.” You might wonder...
August 6, 2020, Transfiguration Feast: Holy Rosary (Luminous Mysteries) 07.08.2020 26:07
[Comment: God’s Face] Friends of the Rosary, We commemorate today the feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord (MT 17:1-9), the biblical passage we reflect on the fourth Luminous mystery. Before his Passion and Death, Jesus took Peter, James, and John and led them to a retired mountain. There, the Man-God appeared transfigured in a brilliant white light. The three apostles present were wonderfully...

[Comment: Saints and the Rosary] Friends of the Rosary, There are many saints who bounded themselves to pray the Rosary every single day. St Francis of Sales and St Charles Borromeo strongly recommended this devotion to anyone. The greatest Popes, from St Pious V to St John Paul II said the Rosary every day. St Ignatius of Loyola, St Francis Xavier, St Francis Borgia were deeply devoted to the Ros...

[Comment: Contemplating the Passion] Friends of the Rosary, Contemplating and meditating on the Passion and Death is an absolute need for every Christian. The Virgin Mary insisted on it in Her latest apparitions, including the one of Garabandal in the sixties in Spain. St Augustine emphatically said the turning our thoughts to the suffering of Our Savior was the most fruitful spiritu...

[Comment: Heaven Rejoices] Friends of the Rosary, The mysteries we pray today are rightly called joyful because of the joy they gave to the whole universe. St Louis Mary de Montfort explained that Our Lady and the angels were overwhelmed with joy when the Son of God was incarnate. St Elizabeth and St John the Baptist were filled with joy by the visit of Mary and Jesus. Heaven and Earth rejoiced at...

[Comment: Love of God] Friends of the Rosary, Neither distress, ideologies, people, persecution nor even death can separate us from the love of God revealed in Jesus Christ. We are bound to the Creator as his children, as St. Paul reminds us in his letter to the Romans today (ROM 8;35, 37-39). It is a big lie to say that Jesus and Mary have abandoned you and do not love you. Quite the contrary. Je...

[Comment: Lady of Light] Friends of the Rosary, The name Mary means “lady of light”. The Virgin Mary was chosen as the Lord’s instrument to incarnate the Eternal Word. Through the Annunciation–the greatest event on history–the world was redeemed and peace was restored between God and man. In the Rosary we rejoice by invoking Our Lady, the most perfect of God’s creatures. When we honor Our Lady of...

[Comment: St. Ignatius of Loyola] Friends of the Rosary, Today is the Memorial Day of St. Ignatius of Loyola, founder of the Society of Jesus–the Jesuits–and one of the greatest Spanish saints, along with St. Dominic, St. Teresa of Avila, St. Francis Xavier, and others. The Jesuits started in the sixteenth century as the Church’s spiritual troops in the battle against the spread of Protestantism i...

[Comment: Good and Evil] Friends of the Rosary, In our society, good and evil are often confused or intermingled. What’s wrong is even presented as justice and collective rights. Inverting the values is a sin against the Holy Spirit. People might end up unknowingly worshipping the anti-Christ. We all need discernment to detect today’s lies. Prayer and good deeds can be a source of discernment. As...

[Comment: Martha Served] Friends of the Rosary, Today is the memorial day of Saint Martha. Martha, her sister Mary of Bethany, and their brother Lazarus were close friends of Jesus. [Comment: Pandemic] Friends of the Rosary, A coronavirus resurgence is hitting much of the world. The increase of the daily new cases is a worrisome reminder that crushing the virus was not a one-time event. This COVID-19 pandemic and the economic downturn have revealed who we truly are, what we believe, and what kind of people and society we have become. It's a...
