November 4, 2020, Holy Rosary (Glorious Mysteries) 04.11.2020

[Comment: Invoking the Holy Spirit] Friends of the Rosary, Today, Saint Charles Borromeo Memorial Day, we read that Jesus Christ reminded that to be His disciple we need to accept and carry our cross. (LK 14:25-33) Everyone suffers in this valley of tears. The difference is in our response to the struggle. We Christians embrace our cross, knowing that the cross redeems us from our sins, and prepar...

November 3, 2020, Holy Rosary (Sorrowful Mysteries) 03.11.2020

[Comment: Election Day] Friends of the Rosary, Today is Election Day in the US. Americans will choose their President for the next four years. The elected President will contribute to shaping the destiny of the World. Every age in history is complicated. It can be more or less peaceful and economically prosperous. However, what matters for the faithful is to advance the Kingdom of Heaven here on E...

November 2, 2020, Feast of All Souls, Holy Rosary (Joyful Mysteries) 02.11.2020

[Comment: Purgatory]     Friends of the Rosary, Today, November 2, the day after the solemnity of All Saints we celebrate the feast All Souls Day, also known as the Commemoration of all the Faithful Departed. When a person dies, the soul can go to Heaven, Hell, or Purgatory, where most people, free of mortal sin, but still in venial sin, go. In other words, these souls departin...

November 1, 2020, Solemnity of All Saints, Holy Rosary (Glorious Mysteries) + Litany of the Saints 01.11.2020

[Comment: Holiness]   Friends of the Rosary, We celebrate today the Solemnity of All Saints. We honor the souls who were faithful to Jesus Christ’s teaching and were beatified and canonized. Now, they enjoy in Heaven the face of Jesus Christ and intercede for us, struggling on earth. Mind you, this feast was instituted to honor the unknown saints as well. Some of them could be our own relativ...

October 31, 2020, Eve is the Vigil of All Saints, Holy Rosary (Joyful Mysteries) 31.10.2020

[Comment: Catholic Halloween]   Friends of the Rosary, The holiday of Halloween has been embraced by the secular world. However, its foundation is rooted in the Catholic tradition. The name itself is taken from an older English term, “hallows,” meaning “holy”; and “e’en”, a truncation of the word evening. So All Hallow's Eve is the Vigil of All Saints' Day. In other words, Halloween, with its...

[Comment: Terrorism] Friends of the Rosary, Yesterday, a terrorist armed with a knife and shouting “Allahu Akbar”, killed three people at the Basilica of Notre-Dame in Nice, France. The attacker was later arrested by the local police. A few days ago, in another horrific attack, a French professor was beheaded in Paris. We pray for the martyrs killed in France and for their families. The perpetrato...

[Comment: Attacks] Friends of the Rosary, As we bear greater fruit in advancing the Kingdom of Heaven, attacks of demons might be more frequent. However, the good news is that in order to combat the devil, the grace of God increases, allowing us to grow closer to Jesus and Mary. St Paul spoke about the armor that God gives us to stand against the attack of evil forces (Ephesians 6:10-20). And St J...

[Comment: Loving Everyone and Everything] Friends of the Rosary, What’s really important in our life? What’s the purpose of our existence? Jesus Christ revealed it to us in the Gospel’s reading of this Sunday (Matthew 22:34-40). The Son of God said: “You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and the first commandment. T...

October 27, 2020, Holy Rosary (Sorrowful Mysteries) 27.10.2020

[Comment: Individualism] Friends of the Rosary, We tend to see reality from our own perspective and interest. We don’t wake up in the morning thinking about what we can do today for the good of one another. Moreover, in today’s individualistic culture, many Christians reduce their spiritual lives to a cultivation of a personal friendship with God. We forget that Christians exist not for themselves...

October 26, 2020, Holy Rosary (Joyful Mysteries) 26.10.2020

[Comment: Pope Francis] Friends of the Rosary, Pope Francis was in the news last week. His usual way of expressing ideas troubled many faithful worldwide. A large number think that Pope Francis has shifted from the Catholic doctrine to an ecumenical, new-aged, non-Christian set of progressive ideas. They are totally wrong. Pope Francis is a faithful priest and Bishop—the Bishop of R...

[Comment: Our Lady of Almudena; Video Tour ] Friends of the Rosary, In the 8th and 9th centuries, when the Arabs conquered the territory of what is now Madrid, in Spain, the faithful were secretly venerating the Virgin of Almudena. In the year 1085, when King Alfonso VI reconquered for Christianity the city of Magerit—the Arab name of Madrid at that time—an image of Our Lady of Almudena was miracu...

[Comment: All Things Are Vanity] Friends of the Rosary, One of the recent readings in the Scriptures was the famous passage of Ecclesiastes, "Vanity of vanities, all things are vanity" (Ecclesiastes 1:2-11). It reads: "One generation passes and another comes, but the world forever stays." "Nothing is new under the sun." (...) "Even the thing of which we say, See, this is new! has already existed i...

[Comment: True Life] Friends of the Rosary, Regardless of the suffering and difficulties we face, living for Jesus Christ through Mary is right answer. Embracing the cross and reflecting on the passion and death of Jesus Christ — as we do today with the Sorrowful Mysteries — is what makes us fully human, allowing us to truly see the way, the truth, and the life. Last month we celebrated the feast...

October 22, 2020, Memorial of St. John Paul II, Holy Rosary (Luminous Mysteries) 22.10.2020

[Comment: Testimony of Holiness] Friends of the Rosary, Today is the Memorial Day of St John Paul II. The beloved and charismatic Polish Pope exercised his ministry with a tireless missionary spirit and showed an extraordinary testimony of holiness. He is most remembered for his role in the fall of communism, along with his love for families and young people, and his world travels. On May 13, 1981...

October 21, 2020, Holy Rosary (Glorious Mysteries) 21.10.2020

[Comment: Vigilant, Rosary in Hand] Friends of the Rosary, In the Gospel today (Luke 12:39-48), Our Savior Jesus Christ warns to be ready “for the Son of man is coming at an unexpected hour”. As we say in the Nicene Creed, “Jesus Christ will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and His Kingdom will have no end.” Friends, we must be vigilant for the Second Coming. When the divine ar...

October 20, 2020, Holy Rosary (Sorrowful Mysteries) 20.10.2020

[Comment: God’s Primacy] Friends of the Rosary, As Pope Francis recently said, “Catholics must affirm God’s primacy to the world.” The enemy is always trying to ruin mankind by suppressing the truth and light of Jesus Christ. In this battle between light and darkness, we must speak of God and bear witness to men and women of our time, as Pope said. Too many lives are ruin and souls are lost due to...

October 19, 2020, Holy Rosary (Joyful Mysteries) 19.10.2020

[Comment: Divine Aid] Friends of the Rosary, Last Saturday we read how Jesus Christ promised divine aid to the apostles (LK 12:8-12). Now, as it was in the first century, Jesus Christ’s followers cannot succeed in spreading the truth and saving souls only with earthly tools. In our mission, we need the Helper, the Holy Spirit, and His espouse, the Virgin Mary. Through prayer, the Holy Ghost comes...

October 18, 2020, Holy Rosary (Glorious Mysteries) 18.10.2020

Friends of the Rosary, We visited today the shrine and monument dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus in the Cerro de Los Ángeles, Hill of the Angels, about 6 miles south of Madrid, Spain. In this place, Saint Madre de las Maravillas de Jesus – or Madre Maravillas – founded a Discalced Carmelites convent a century ago. Born in Madrid, she built here a nuns' house following the St. Terese of Avila...

[Comment: Sins Against the Holy Spirit] Friends of the Rosary, We read today that Jesus said to his disciples (LK 12:8-12): “Everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but the one who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.” In other words, all sins are forgiven except one: a sin against the Holy Spirit. Jesus’ frightening exhortation refers to the sin of...

October 16, 2020, Holy Rosary (Sorrowful Mysteries) 16.10.2020

[Comment: Our Senses Fail] Friends of the Rosary, We pay too much attention to our senses; to what we perceive and what we feel. In the 12th century, St. Thomas Aquinas composed the Tantum Ergo hymnal, and in one verse he mentioned the failure of the senses. He literally wrote in Latin: praestet fides supplementum, sensuum defectui , which means: let faith provide a supplement for the failure of t...

October 15, Memorial of St. Teresa of Avila, 2020, Holy Rosary (Luminous Mysteries) 15.10.2020

[Comment: Contemplating Christ's Presence] Friends of the Rosary, We celebrate today the Memorial of the Spanish Carmelite reformer, mystic, and doctor of the Church, St. Teresa of Avila. She was canonized forty years after her earthly death, in the early 17th century, with three of her greatest contemporaries: St. Ignatius Loyola, St. Francis Xavier, and St. Philip Neri. They all enriched the Chu...

October 14, 2020, Holy Rosary (Glorious Mysteries) 14.10.2020

[Comment: Defend the Rosary] Friends of the Rosary, In today's Gospel, Jesus Christ expresses his judgment on the Pharisees, the religious leaders of the time. He said to them: "You impose on people burdens hard to carry, but you yourselves do not lift one finger to touch them".  (LK 11:42-46) Today, the world is in peril from the well-organized anti-Christian forces. But also the Church is e...

October 13, 2020, Anniversary of the Sixth Fatima Apparition and “Miracle of the Sun”, Holy Rosary (Sorrowful Mysteries) 13.10.2020

[Comment: Fatima] Friends of the Rosary, On October 13, 1917, in Fatima, Portugal, around 70,000 people witnessed the largest miracle ever recorded. The “Miracle of the Sun” or “the day when the sun danced” took place exactly as the Virgin Mary promised to the three shepherd children – Lucia, Francisco, and Jacinta Marto. The supernatural event proved the validity of the Fatima Marian apparitions....

October 12, 2020, Feast of Our Lady of the Pillar, Holy Rosary (Joyful Mysteries) 12.10.2020

[Comment: First Marian Apparition] Friends of the Rosary, We celebrate today not only Columbus or the Indigenous Day but most importantly the feast of Our Lady of the Pillar, Nuestra Señora del Pilar. The Virgin of the Pillar is the patron of Spain and all Hispanic people. Precisely, on October 12, 1492, the feast of the Virgin of the Pillar, Christopher Colombus first sighted American land, and t...

October 11, 2020, Holy Rosary (Glorious Mysteries) 11.10.2020

[Comment: Carlo Acutis] Friends of the Rosary, On Saturday 10, in Assisi, Italy, Carlo Acutis, a 15-years old Italian web programmer, became the first millennial to be beatified by the Catholic Church. Now he is one step away from canonization. Blessed Carlo Acutis died of leukemia in Milan on October 12, 2006, on the feast of Our Lady of Pillar (Virgen del Pilar). He offered his illness and his p...
