[Comment: Being a Disciple] Friends of the Rosary: Before the resurrection, Jesus tested his disciples by sending them to drive out demons, convince people to repent, and embrace the truth and freedom of the Kingdom, as we read yesterday (Mk 6:7-13). Today, twenty centuries later, from Heaven, Jesus Christ continues calling each and every one of us to carry on with his mission of love. With the ex...

[Comment: Precious Blood] Friends of the Rosary: July is the month dedicated to The Precious Blood of Jesus, as we say when announcing the Mysteries of the day. The devotion of the Precious Blood of Jesus is as old as Christianity. The blood poured out on the Cross from his pierced side purchased our salvation. It's the blood and body present in the Holy Eucharist, that cleanses our...

[Comment: Faithful Saturdays] Friends of the Rosary: For centuries, since the early Middle Ages, Saturdays have been devoted to the Virgin Mary. It’s a preparation day for Sunday, dedicated to Jesus Christ. It’s the day of the Resurrection when we attend the Holy Eucharist and pray the Glorious Mysteries. Mary is the preparer , the Daughter of God the Father, the Mother of God the Son, and...

[Comment: In the Midst of Wolves] Friends of the Rosary: Today’s reading (Mt 10:16-23) reveals what are the consequences on earth for Christians who stand up for the eternal truth. Jesus Christ anticipated to his Apostles that they were “ like sheep in the midst of wolves” . And warned: “But beware of men, for they will hand you over to courts and scourge you in their synagogues, and you wil...

[Comment: Renewal] Friends of the Rosary: Conversion needs to happen every day. In truth, our Christian life is — or should be — a life of continual renewal and conversion. An interior transformation doesn’t come overnight. Instinctively, we might return to our old, unholy past. Everyone gets assaulted with bad thoughts, sometimes consciously, others unconsciously, when sleepi...

[Comment: Weakness and Strength] Friends of the Rosary: St. Paul the Apostle confessed (2 Cor 12;7-10) that "a thorn in the flesh" was tormenting him, as we read last Sunday. It could be a temptation, a chronic eye problem, epilepsy, or any other source of real pain. Naturally, he asked repeatedly the Lord to free him from that torture. God provided him a shocking answer — shocking f...

[Comment: Erase Suffering?] Friends of the Rosary: The Blessed Virgin Mary asks us to reflect upon the sorrowful mysteries of Jesus Christ. The Redeemer of the World drank the cup of suffering and accepted extreme pain, humiliation, and death on the cross. Can we accept ourselves suffering as an important component of earthly life? Our modern society encourages us to go in the opposite dire...

[Comment: Mocked] Friends of the Rosary: In today’s (Mt 9:18-26) and yesterday’s (Mk 6:1-6) readings, we see that Jesus was mocked and ridiculed by people. “They took offense at him,” wrote Mark the Evangelist. “Jesus was amazed at their lack of faith.” Our modern society is not much different. Currently, people offend and mock Jesus Christ with unrighteous practices and ideas. Ideologies are...
July 4, 2021, Independence Day, Holy Rosary (Glorious Mysteries) 04.07.2021 31:29
[Comment: Gratitude] Friends of the Rosary: God Bless America! Today, 4th of July, Independence Day, on the American national holiday, we give thanks to God for the birth of this Christian, unparalleled nation. This is a great day for showing our gratitude and appreciation while celebrating, together with friends and family, the grace shed on the Un...
July 3, 2021, Feast of St. Thomas, Holy Rosary (Joyful Mysteries) 03.07.2021 28:03
[Comment: Progress] Friends of the Rosary: Today, we celebrate the feast day of St. Thomas, the Apostle who doubted at first and later would become a great witness preaching the faith beyond the frontiers of the Roman Empire, in Asia. After the resurrection, Jesus Christ permitted Thomas to doubt, but he did not abandon him. The apostle saw the Man Christ...

[Comment: Conformity] Friends of the Rosary: We are often conflicted with the fruit of the first sorrowful mystery, the conformity with God’s will. We say several times in the Lord’s Prayer “thy will be done”, but we are suspicious. The Father’s will is fine as long as it fits with our plans and desires. Otherwise, it seems a kind of a rhetoric pledge. The Evil O...
July 1, 2021, Memorial of Saint Junípero Serra, Holy Rosary (Luminous Mysteries) 01.07.2021 27:11
[Comment: Faith and Charity] Friends of the Rosary: Today is the Memorial Day of St. Junípero Serra, a Spaniard, Franciscan priest who spread the faith in California and the West Coast in the eighteenth century. He founded 21 missions. Fray Junípero Serra converted thousands of Native Americans, bringing them the gift of the true faith. He also won their lov...
June 30, 2021, Memorial of the First Martyrs of the Church of Rome, Holy Rosary (Glorious Mysteries) 30.06.2021 29:15
[Comment: Crown of Martydom] Friends of the Rosary: Today is the Memorial Day of the first Christians persecuted en masse and martyred. In the year 64, Emperor Nero — a mad and evil soul who hated the human race and committed suicide at the age of thirty-one — put many Christians to death: by crucifixion, being tied to posts and lit up as human torches, or feedin...
June 29, 2021, Solemnity of Sts. Peter and Paul, Holy Rosary (Sorrowful Mysteries) 29.06.2021 29:16
[Comment: Rock] Friends of the Rosary: Today, on the solemnity day of Sts. Peter and Paul, we venerate the two apostles and martyrs who are the rock on which the universal Church of Christ is built. St. Peter was buried on the hill of the Vatican, in the place of the Basilica of St. Peter’s, Christendom’s most famous shrine. After the ascension of Jesus, Peter to...

[Comment: Light of the Nations] Friends of the Rosary: Our modern society is lost and confused, mostly because it refuses to adopt a fundamental truth: Christ is the Light of the Nations. Jesus Christ is the King of the Universe and the Blessed Virgin Mary is the Queen. The light of Christ and the Grace of Mary should reach all mankind. We must understand that the Cross...
June 27, 2021, Holy Rosary (Glorious Mysteries) 27.06.2021 27:30
[Comment: Imperishable] Friends of the Rosary: God created man to be immortal, in an image of his own nature, as we read today in the Book of Wisdom (Wis 1:13-15; 2:23-24). By the envy of the Devil, death entered the world. Earthly death, diseases, and struggle shouldn’t confuse us about immortality. Jesus Christ experienced also earthly death, but his real presence on the Euc...
June 26, 2021, Memorial day of St. Josemaría Escrivá de Balaguer, Holy Rosary (Joyful Mysteries) 26.06.2021 28:29
[Comment: Sanctification through Daily Work] Friends of the Rosary: Today, Saturday 26, is the Memorial day of St. Josemaría Escrivá de Balaguer, a Spaniard priest who founded Opus Dei almost a century ago to promote the sanctification of the faithful through daily work. Canonized a saint in 2002 by John Paul II, Josemaría Escrivá de Balaguer preached the universal call to holiness....

[Comment: Europe] Friends of the Rosary: The European Union will make the killing of the unborn a human right. On Thursday, at the festivity of St John the Baptist, the European Parliament sadly approved to classify abortion as an “essential” health service. Only four countries opposed this attack against the Holy Spirit. The former Communist countries who experienced darkness and no...
June 24, 2021, Solemnity of the Birth of St. John the Baptist, Holy Rosary (Luminous Mysteries) 24.06.2021 29:05
[Comment: Humility and Courage] Friends of the Rosary: Today is the Solemnity of the nativity of John the Baptist, the prophet-saint whose life was an incomparable example of humility and courage. The precursor of the Redeemer was born in a town of Judaea six months before Jesus. Like the Blessed Virgin Mary, he was holy at his birth, born free from the original sin. John was cleanse...

[Comment: Few People] Friends of the Rosary: God loves every one of us unconditionally, but we are free to accept or reject his merciful love. We are not puppets or marionettes in the hands of the Eternal Father. In this sense, we are created like angels and archangels. One-third decided to defy God and went into darkness, lead by Lucifer. They fell into the earth to mess with mankind, seek...
June 22, 2021, Memorial of St. Thomas More, Holy Rosary (Sorrowful Mysteries) 22.06.2021 31:23
[Comment: Integrity] Friends of the Rosary: Today is Memorial Day is two prominent English saints: John Fisher and Thomas More. St. Thomas More was an intensely spiritual man, eminent lawyer, literary scholar, father of four children, and Chancellor of England. He was beheaded on Tower Hill, London, in 1535, because, as a public servant, he refused to approve King Henry VIII’s divorce and r...
June 21, 2021, Holy Rosary (Joyful Mysteries) 21.06.2021 28:34
[Comment: Stop Judging] Friends of the Rosary: In our pride, we judge others. Also, since we consider ourselves more pious, we tend to evaluate others’ conduct. That’s the very dangerous “spiritual pride”. All of this is contrary to the foundational virtue of humility that we praise today in the first Joyful mystery. The Blessed Virgin Mary, all perfection, was all humility. Her Divine Son...
June 20, 2021, Holy Rosary (Glorious Mysteries) 20.06.2021 28:21
[Comment: Theological Virtues] Friends of the Rosary: We see today in the Gospel of Mark (Mk 4:35-41) how Jesus Christ has dominance over the wind and sea. The wind ceased at His command. In his control over nature and the entire universe, the living God encourages us to have faith and not be concerned about tomorrow. “Do not worry about tomorrow; tomorrow will take care of itself,” says Jesus (Mt...
June 19, 2021, Holy Rosary (Joyful Mysteries) 19.06.2021 28:49
[Comment: Treasure] Friends of the Rosary: What we accumulate on Earth is temporary and it doesn’t mostly enrich our souls. We enjoy with gratitude all of the material goods that the Lord is giving us. Life is suffering as well as celebration, as we saw in the mystery of the Wedding at Cana. However, what matters is to store up treasures in heaven, as Jesus said to His disciples — and we read yest...
June 18, 2021, Holy Rosary (Sorrowful Mysteries) 18.06.2021 29:28
[Comment: Holy Communion] Friends of the Rosary: U.S. Bishops are currently discussing whether or not to provide the Eucharist to Catholic politicians who support abortion and genderism. This is an existential issue. The Eucharist is the body and blood of Jesus Christ. It’s the deep mystery of the Real Presence of the Lord. It’s not symbolism nor remembrance of Jesus. As Pope Paul VI proclaimed in...
