That an almighty God desires and has made a way for each of us to be his friend is shocking! But that is the incredible news of Christmas – Jesus shows us that the giant has come to us and for us, even playfully.

Every single one of us is in need of our Lord God leading and guiding us like a shepherd guides his sheep. This Avent we are invited to reflect on whether we are running loose from our shepherd or allowing him to guide and lead us as the Good Shepherd.

Entering into Advent season prepares our hearts for the celebration of the coming of the Promised Messiah. Allow a vast perspective of God’s creation and the promises that he has made (including those yet to be fulfilled) to stir worship anew this season!

When Jesus encounters the question about the most important commandment, his answer explores ways that we can extend great proof and evidence of our faith in our lives. The simplicity of his answer also underscores the primacy of the love we first received from God and then are intended to extend to a lost and desperate world.

In many places around the world the message of Jesus is not welcome. This weekend we launch our Missions theme for the next year “Whispers of Faith”. We will discover how Bible Translation and The Persecuted Church are woven together in the hardest to reach areas of the world.

Many of us just can’t help but seeing people in terms of labels. But when we are committed to learn more about their stories we are better positioned to suspend prejudice and be open to grace. Thank the Lord that he sees people as stories in progress and never just stops short at labels!

As a special stand-alone week, we hear from Dr. Jerry Root on personal evangelism. All of us have a story in faith and have a responsibility to share it because 'this stuff matters and it matters forever.'

Turning around a ‘trap-question’ from the Pharisees, Jesus teaches his people about the most intimate of relationships from God’s point of view. In fact, Jesus continues using all kinds of object lessons to show his people kingdom values and that everything is far richer by his hand than our own!

Infighting can be so easy to do because these people are closest to us (and have the tendency to cause friction). But Jesus continues to lead his disciples - then and now - in a way that addresses what we should really be opposing - SIN. Take your own sin seriously and continue to lean into Kingdom connection with one another.

Amidst the disciples' struggle to position themselves as the greatest of Jesus followers, Jesus continues to retrain their minds and hearts based on Kingdom principles. One cannot be great in the Kingdom without lifting others up ahead of themselves (and no one did this more than Jesus himself).

Student Weekend is a weekend when we get to celebrate students. We get to have a sneak peek into Timberline Student Ministries and see how God is moving in the lives of students. We are pumped to be together.

God meets us in the middle of our struggles and needs. He invites us beyond just met-needs into surpassing power and love!

Facing the pivotal question of the Gospel of Mark, Jesus now intends on taking all those who would follow him much deeper into an understanding of his purpose and call on their lives. Each of us must find our own answer to The Mark Question.

In a heightened time of developing understanding within his disciples, Jesus heals a blind man in two stages. Could this be an enacted parable to instill in the disciples – and us – that seeing things clearly is a process that is wholly dependent upon him?

In a shocking interaction, it seems that Jesus is being quite rude (if not even racist) to a woman. Pastor Brent helps us see that in this very incident Jesus is in fact breaking the back of such thinking and initiating radical inclusion - by which ALL PEOPLE are now included and welcomed into the family of God!

Throughout Mark’s Gospel we see Jesus doing great signs and wonders and we also see him teaching. If his great mastery over all things is proven in the signs and wonders, we must allow whatever he teaches to take root across all of our lives!
