This week Mitch, Christian and Tyler watched one of the most inspirational documentaries we've covered so far.  Get ready for a story of poverty, illiteracy and female empowerment!

Have you ever wondered what happens to people who die but have no next of kin? No? Neither did we until we watched the 2003 doc A Certain Kind of Death directed by Grover Babcock and Blue Hadaegh.  A warning there are some graphic scenes.  This one was a very surprising one for us, didn't know what to expect but definitely found it compelling and extremely interesting.  

Comedy's original bad boy Lenny Bruce.  Broke the mould when it came to freedom of speech and paid the price for it.

The Israeli - Palestinian conflict has been raging for what seems like forever.  5 Broken Cameras takes you on the ground from the point of view of a Palestinian farmer taking part in peaceful protests against Israeli occupation.  Definitely worth a watch.

Ecstasy, MDMA, Molly...whatever name you know it by Alexander 'Sasha' Shulgin is the man behind it all.  A brilliant chemist who dedicated his life to the research of psychedelic drugs.  This 2010 doc directed by Etienne Sauret profiles the life of the man who brought MDMA to the mainstream. 

It's time to get philosophical for this one folks! This week the dudes watch and discuss the 2011 BBC 3 part mini-docuseries called All Watched Over By Machines of Loving Grace.  This doc takes a look at our human relation to computers and machines and filmmaker Adam Curtis argues that computers have failed to liberate humanity, and instead have "distorted and simplified our view of the world...

Get ready....this doc will have you in tears, enraged, heart broken and asking WHY THE HELL DID I SUBJECT MYSELF TO THIS! But trust me when I say it is 10000% worth the ride.  This 2008 documentary directed by Kurt Kuenne profiles his childhood best friend who was murdered and the stories from people who knew him best.  Extremely heartfelt and one of my favourite films of all time.

This week the dudes visit Russia and watch the doc "The Putin System" directed by Jean-Michel Carre.  This doc profiles Russian President Vladimir Putin and his rise from KGB man to leader of Russia.  This one is for all the political junkies!

For this week we chose When We Were Kings, recommended by Fran Solomita and Chad Sahley but unfortunately we couldn't find it online to watch anywhere.  None the less we marched forward and did an episode anyways, Tyler ordered the DVD off Amazon and we will be bringing a special episode once we've watched the film. 

Special episode this week! We were joined by the director (Fran Solomita) and Executive Producer (Chad Sahley) to talk about their documentary When Stand Up Stood Out.  The documentary is a love letter to the early days of the Boston stand up comedy scene, in which Fran was a part of.  

Lovers of dirty comedy and stand up comedy in general will love this doc! Imagine the dirtiest joke you can imagine and then 10x worse and you have the Aristocrats! An inside joke told between comedians.  This 2005 doc interviews a ton of top standup comedians and their takes on the Aristocrats joke.

This week the dudes watched a heartbreaking 2001 documentary from Edet Belzberg called Children Underground, profiling homeless children in the Romanian capital of Bucharest.  Christian goes a little off the rails and the guys talk about the recent theme of homeless Soviet Block children and drugs we've been watching.

This one is for all the Nirvana lovers out there. This week we watched Cobain: Montage of Heck profiling the chaotic life of Nirvana front man Kurt Cobain.

Due to some technical difficulties were almost a week late! But none the less we bring you the documentary Almost Holy.  Such a great watch.

A in-depth look at the history of USA interference in Latin America.  This documentary seems more relevant than any we've watched up to this point.

Let's rock the hell out with this VICE doc about the first heavy metal band in Iraq!

This week the Dudes dive into Errol Morris' 1999 documentary Mr. Death: The Rise and Fall of Fred A. Leuchter Jr.

This week we were lucky enough to chat with Brett Harvey, director of The Union: The Business Behind Getting High.  Hear Brett explain working on not only this doc but some of his newer projects as well.

We're kicking it old school this week.  What a treat this one was, the 1929 silent documentary Man With a Movie Camera by director Dziga Vertov.  This documentary paved the way for all kinds of cinematography techniques and was completely ground breaking for it's time.  If you're a cinephile or just love old school cool this doc is right up your alley.
